  • Robert F. Smith is the world’s richest African American, but for some reason, no one really knows about him. We’re all familiar with the likes of Oprah, Michael Jordan, Rihanna and Jay-Z, but Robert Smith didn’t build his wealth in sports or entertainment. He’s the founder of Vista Equity Partners, one of the world’s leading private equity firms.
    Vista invests exclusively in software, data and tech-enabled businesses. Whether you’re a B2B SaaS business in Silicon Valley, a data analytics firm in New York or a fintech startup in Stockholm, Vista Equity is probably keeping a close eye on you. The company manages $96 billion in assets, has completed more than 590 private equity transactions and made Robert Smith a billionaire many times over. Behind this legendary private equity firm is the incredible story of a young man who just wanted to become an engineer, but instead ended up competing with the biggest financiers on Wall Street.

    Hey, I'm Kunal. I'm a Swedish founder in NYC and ex-investment banker (Lazard M&A). You can think of this as my personal business blog, but in video format.
    I create videos about finance, business strategy, M&A and mental models to help me better understand our complex business world. Through my work, I've mostly covered tech, media, healthcare, sports and holdcos so those are naturally the topics I gravitate towards.
    My goal is to constantly challenge myself to become a better business operator, investor and thinker by studying world class founders, financiers and investors. I hope this channel will help you do the same.
    Just sharing what I'm learning along the way and documenting my journey - nothing on here should be considered financial advice.

      Robert F. Smith of Vista is a crook. He made his fortune by conspiring with the biggest financial criminal in US history Robert Brockman, who was indicted for money laundering, human trafficking, and tax evasion. He plead guilty in 2020 to these crimes to avoid prison time. He dumped his African American wife and family of 25 years, for a WHITE PORN STAR.

    Great video. I truly appreciate the highlight of a financially successful African America or in this case a Black American, especially outside the entertainment industry. However, the richest African American is actually Elon Musk. I promise this is not a troll. Keep up the great work, your content is really good and very educational.

      Elon musk South African and not African American! Although Africa American is Misnomer , but it primarily refers to black Americans that are descendants of American slavery . Most Africans go by their tribes or nationality .

    • @abiola9579
      @abiola9579 Год назад

      @@lockvegas05 I understand what you are saying. I'm African American myself and black and I am aware that labeling people according to race vs ethnicity differs in America vs the rest of the world. I respectfully disagree with you though. Africa does not mean black. There are black people who are not from Africa (the Caribbean and Australia for example) as well as there are entire nations of native people who are not black and are fully African. It was in a light hearted nature that I pointed out Elon Musk's nationality. I don't think it matters that much honestly, he and this other successful gentleman are still successful and living their best life regardless. I think it's more important to not treat Africa like a nation of 1 look when it's a continent filled with nations of very different races and ethnicities. You may be right that he isn't Black American but as an African immigrant (South Africa is an African Nation same as Egypt, Algeria, and Nigeria, even though the people of these nations vary on color/race and phenotype) then he is African American. He is technically more African than I am. Btw I personally never described him as Black American because obviously as you pointed out...the skin. But he is definitely African. Some people are more convertible labeling Trevor Noah, who is 1/2 caucasian, as African but not Elon Musk because of weaker melanocytes. Well then why not settle at Euro-African lol? I think it's a silly double standard. Basically in my opinion it's a labeling issue in America, like calling all black looking people African American but not calling all white looking people European American. To your point, that culture is a result from the history of slavery and race views in America. Anyway let's all strive for success and acceptance. Thanks for reading my novel.

      @@probsomething Also I noticed and appreciate you for updating the title of your video. I really didn't expect that so it's a cool surprise. It's a more honest representation of the positive message you were going for. You are as open to learning and thinking for yourself just as much as you are to teaching. Much respect to you.
