    Even though he doesn't speak English fluently i personally feel DEAN is the most qualified artist to transition into the american market, because his sound is way too wide. he can go in the R&B realm or even pop realm and kill it. and I've listened to Eric nam and CL but Dean's talents just out weigh them both musically, That American R&B Influence he has is just too great.

    • @tdotmiss
      @tdotmiss 7 лет назад +85

      Young P.X 1000% agree. He makes music that Asian Americans can relate to. It's harder to break out when artists are very much based in the culture of Kpop.

    • @youngp.x2577
      @youngp.x2577 7 лет назад +34

      exactly one of the biggest reason's why Asian Americans relate more is because they like black *African American music (Hip Hop, R&B Etc..) and that's where he gets his style from.

    • @kiwisae3147
      @kiwisae3147 7 лет назад +74

      I completely agree. Sure, out of the three major entertainment companies I would say YG is the one with the best chance of breaking into the US market.. but even then, artists like CL are too pre-packaged. Idk, I just don't think Americans appreciate musicians being presented to them on a platter, they want to hear those organic, started-from-the-bottom type stories and Dean is the only one that really fits that bill. Plus, his sound is modern and sleek in a way that makes most Kpop sound like they're just followers/imitators of the kind of direction Dean is going in.

  • @scottj6146
    @scottj6146 7 лет назад +129

    I know he's the least fluent in english, but I feel like Dean has the best shot out of those 3 to make it in the US. His style is unique in Korea and is more tailored for American audiences, plus relevant American producers/singers (Anderson Paak and Eric Bellinger) liked his music enough to collaborate with him (remember that this was before he blew up in mainstream Korea). And personally, I just think he makes better music than the other two, everything he puts out is top-notch.

    • @AteezheadlinesMAWAZINE
      @AteezheadlinesMAWAZINE 7 лет назад +13

      True. Dean has been accepted in the Rnb realm in the U.S. because he is soulful and has the vocal chops to back it up. Much of Koreas "soul" would get shot down here.

    • @alyssamilem6414
      @alyssamilem6414 7 лет назад +16

      Totally agree. Dean has a universality about him. I think it does help that his genre is more recognizable to Americans, but mostly it's just that he has insane vocals and a really unique/complex level of production in every single song he drops. He's attracting a diverse fanbase hella quickly, which I think is the sign of a good musician.

    It's sad the Koreans feel like they have to make it in America to be 'successful' I guess what I'm trying to say is Koreans in general always look at the American/western as the ultimate goal and they feel the need to copy or fit in. What makes kpop enjoyable for me and a lot of other fans is that it is DIFFERENT and unique. Y'all don't have to try and fit into the western industry. You're amazing as it is. I'm all for worldwide exposure such as working in the states and holding worldwide concerts, I'm just talking about how a lot of kpop idols or Korean stars in general feel like they need to be accepted by western music industries.

    • @Aminangela
      @Aminangela 7 лет назад +19

      well the US has always been a really big power in the music industry (with all of the power and freedom and such that America has), to surpass American celebrities in their own field would not only mean success, but would in turn grow into world-wide fame. So I think it makes sense to want to grow a following in America.

    • @KTT94
      @KTT94 7 лет назад +6

      Koreans can be extremely closed-minded and conservative, as opposed to American culture, where media is more accepting of artist. Korean artists are able to use the U.S. music industry as a medium express their right to musical freedom.

    • @LovelySunshine17
      @LovelySunshine17 7 лет назад +13

      I do think that their success here would also be a gateway for Asian-American artists to become more mainstream and accepted as well. I can't think of a single American musician/singer of Asian descent who is widely known here and that's kind of sad.

    Eric said it and i quote "race just has to drop out of the picture". Sooo many people have told me i shouldn't or i can't listen to kpop or khip hop because it's in korean, and because i'm black they say I should be a normal 13 year old teenage black girl who listens to that same old trash trap music that has no meaning or feeling put into it. Music is the blood in my veins the beat at which i walk too, and i hate to see apart of music die, i feel like korean idols would do some good for music, give music a little bit of it's identity back, in america i notice it's not about quality of the singer or the songs, if you have a good beat it just passes, but music is a fusion of heart,soul,and passion mixed with the beat of nature,life, instruments,and luckily technology.

    • @noview5241
      @noview5241 3 года назад +1

      This really touched me. I went through the same thing too. Beong criticized for loving something that some people are to blind to accept that others don't think about the language barrier or the race of the person. We as people not just as blacks can love any music we want and we shouldn't let that hold us back. I'm so glad I saw your comment. It has made me become more confident in acknowledging and telling people that I listen to Kpop/khiphop/krnb and I'm not ashamed.😁✌🏾

    They all made valid points. There needs to be more representation of Asian in western culture because they are stereotyped as nerds. I, myself am not Asian but I do see it a lot in media of how they are portraited. Also, what Eric said was right, race does need be forgotten when listening or creating music. It doesn't matter about your sexuality or ethnicity, all that matters is if the song is amazing and that you can connect with it. No matter what I'll still support my babies ❤ CL, DEAN, AND ERIC FIGHTING ❤💪

    I honestly think it will be Jay Park that hits it mainstream in the US first, talking to friends who aren't even fans of Kpop his is the name they know and generally have better reactions to his music. CL I think is trying to get into a niche that just will not push her to the forefront. But at least she is doing better than Boa or the Wonder Girls did, those were just brutal to watch.

    It's the truth no one will truly recognize artists like dean and cl in the USA entertainment business because the fact that they are Asian. no mid or south or east Asian is recognized in america and that's the sad factor about them reaching their fame in america. it's gonna take a lot of effort for Cl to get recognized in the USA.

    Y'all forgetting Yoon Mirae aka Tasha. She's been offered relentlessly to "make it big in America" but she turned it all down. In the end it's all about music and if people truly appreciated music they'd know that you don't need to "conquer" America to finally make music or good music. Fxxk those who think music is supposed to be a certain way. I strongly dislike the label that is put on the entertainment industry that if you don't make it big or even at all in America then you're invalid.

  • @TheDominoEffect2011
    @TheDominoEffect2011 7 лет назад +6

    Whoever edited this man. Loved it. I really think American producers need to make an effort to showcase these talents. Deans music is definitely ready for media play. Eric's voice can totally rock out with some of the best. As for CL I think better management could work. I like her but the fact that some of those lyrics weren't her own just makes her come off as fake. Hello bitches was ok. So I'm hopeful she has better stuff coming out cuz her presentation and her connections scream that she's ready.
