Always enjoy watching your monthly empties videos. Like you I am also new to the world of fountain pens. At the moment I have only tried using cartridges but I have been saving them with the intention of being able to refill them once I expand my knowledge of how to clean and refill fountain pens. Do you think that you will need to be more intentional with your journal and paper purchases with needing to make sure that they are fountain pen friendly?
I am still so new that I don’t really notice the differences in how the ink presents on different papers. Right now I guess my main concern is bleed through but so far I haven’t had any issues. I’m in a Moleskine now and everyone says they aren’t fountain pen friendly but so far it has been fine. I’ll definitely be checking though. And I am sure as I get into more sophisticated inks, I’ll need to seek out the right paper.
I had no idea I would be drawn into all the inks colors. I thought I’d just stick with a basic black and purple. But it is fun and it’s a nice creative outlet. I won’t let myself buy more expensive pens until I can check them out in person though.

What do you like so much about the Pen Gems?
They are beautiful to look at and they are smooth writing ballpoints. The bonus is I am supporting a woman owned small company.
