Turkish kung fu champion faces investigation over Palestine support

- Continental Europe's federation for kung fu announced an investigation on Tuesday into a Turkish martial artist over a display of support for Palestine during the European Wushu Kungfu Championship in December 2023.
A video circulating online from December 2023 shows Necmettin Erbakan Akyuz, a Turkish martial artist with six championships, displaying a Palestinian flag after being presented with the European Championship gold medal during the award ceremony at the European Wushu Kungfu Championship held in Istanbul.
In response to the investigation, Akyuz said he is proud of his actions and will carry the penalty “with more pride than the world championship”.
