Good job, she is coming along nicely. I have a 73 Mirror to restore and repaint this summer. Watching your two restores is very helpful, thank you. Cheers. :-)

Thanks for the series! I've just bought a 1963 Bob Hoare Merlin, number 1593, and it's in pretty good shape bar some soft bits internally which I'm hoping wood hardener and then epoxy will solve. There are a couple of planks that have moved (as it's been stored for ten years) and have ~2mm gaps for a few feet, do you think the filleting method you used will work or do I need more Draconian methods?

Hi Chris, she sounds like a lovely boat. To be honest I don't know whether I'm qualified to be giving advice, but to me 2mm sounds like you'll need to glue the planks back together first, and then fillet them on the outside as well for good measure. The tricky thing is clamping the planks together while the glue dries, especially if they're low down in the boat. But my best advice would be to ask an actual shipwright what they think! Good luck with the rest of the project :)

Obviously too late for this paint work - I found that about 3-5% of a flow agent in the top coat helped remove the brush marks! THiner 333?)
