Hey no problem bud! Glad I could help. And good for you starting so young, keep it up bud and you'll get there some day. Is there anything you wanting to learn right now?
I am not a welder but I am a union fitter and traveling opens up so many other opportunities if you pay attention and learn. Nuke work has change my life and hopefully set me up to retire at 55 and do what I want. Great video Sir
Can you do a video about your accountant ? Maybe a money Monday ? How they charge, what they do, how much they save you, where to find a good one, split check vs contract?
I was lucky I worked for a power company that owned many power plants for 30 yrs. I was a high pressure pipe welder, made 6 figures, on the road a lot with Per diem.
Bout to go to Tulsa welding school and hopefully once I am done I’ll be able to do the same as you after I gain some experience. Glad I came across your video bc that’s the confidence I was needing bub. God bless
Jake. “Only in The USofA” What are the vehicle driving license categories in the USA? And ownership and operation of Oxy/acetylene. I ask this as to drive these large heavy vehicles together with the all up weight one could not drive with only a “car” license,we in the UK and I recon in the European Community required a Heavy Good Vehicle License in addition to the car/ automobile. One requires a medical to get and a medical to keep the HGV license Together at least a weeks driving course, a multichoice test and 1- 1.5 hrs driving test with an examiner. Can take up to 18 months to get through all the admissions & £1300 plus. O yes, there’s quite involved regulation controlling the ownership and use of Oxy/acetylene cylinders & cutting equipment. Also there’s a monthly cylinder rental. full or empty. I don’t think we get away with Arc welding in a domestic driveway & parking lots without curtains around the arc & road works notices “Arc welding in progress- DANGER TO EYES” And when all that’s done one requires an “HGV operators license” to cover maintenance records and the location/ facility of the yard the vehicle will be operated from.
We don't have to deal with any of that, we can drive anything on the road without air brakes under a normal license, heavy duty trucks like 5500s have a different weight class though so registration is more expensive. As far as bottles we rent them from companies, it's not hard to do either
5th wheel may be your own place but those come with a monthly payment too for the most part when traveling for work…. So either way your paying for comfort 🤷♂️🤷♂️

Union rig welder here….. only taxed on income(pocket check) my rig pay and per diem untaxed……. Downside thanks to good ole Trumps tax plan…. I can not write off tool expenses or depreciate my rig or machine anymore….. it’s all 6 one way half dozen the other
Keep your attention on the road!! This video while driving would be enough evidence to be prosecuted !! That cough is caused by Breathing Too much Welding smoke. Not only taxes. You need to get paying into a pension. Ask yourself “what age do I plan to retire” &” how long will I be healthy enough to physically be able to do this work “
No matter what you do you need to plan for retirement, also Medical benefits. A lot of people In our country like self employment not just rig welders, They want to be able to take care of themselves and be Indiduals, It goes back here an American thing for a lot of us. But true you gotta plan for future. Safety and Health gotta throw that in there , as they say "Safety 3rd"
First things first: FJB.. Morning Jake! Have a great week everybody!

How long did it take you to make 6 figures?
I feel like you watched Nacho libre right before you made this video lol
You nailed em all, although I always suggest to guys new to rig welding is to do your taxes quarterly until you get some money put up.
Keep up the work! I’ve been doing this with service truck and shop here for 40 years! Kent Smith Welding.

I’m in hvac right now and considering getting into the welding trade. Just really don’t know where to start
I heard hvac makes a killing my brother was thinking of doing it
I’d start by learning about torching and oxyacetylene and O2 and how to set those up and the correct psi’s etc
Don’t forget to save money for your taxes if you are contract or 1099 a 1/4 what you make is good way to go about it.
Great tips and great guy right there folks
Where do you find contacts? Roadtech? Or somewhere else
Man most of mine are from word of mouth or me looking into an industry and finding contacts
