Thanks Shawn for a wonderful demo of our amp class amp. It is an honor to have you do this for me.
BRUCE EGNATER, Best review of the amp class kit yet!
I’ve been interested in your class since you were on Tone Talk, the schedule just didn’t match up yet... but this sells the package IMO.
Hey Bruce, I have your Renegade amp and got to say I wish every amp was designed this way. Its just a killer amp and I love the foot switch control too.I own some great amps and the Renegade is one of my favs.
It (ok, Shawn) sounds amazing. Perfect wattage too.
I also built the 20 watt unit. Just completed Bruce's seminar in Detroit. Did the 2 day amp building in March and then the 2 day advance amp theory seminar this week, After the 2nd seminar it was great to walk through a schematic of a recent vintage amp purchase and speculate on different approaches I could take with the circuit if it didn't sound as I hoped after I restored it. We had covered all the concepts and then to apply them like that in a quick breakdown really highlighted how far I've come since March of this year! Bruce will be combining the two seminars into a 3 day seminar moving forward. I'm encouraging Bruce to put together a troubleshooting guitar amp issues with an oscilloscope seminar. Hopefully people get on board and this potential future course materializes. Bruce is game for it if the structure and content of the new seminar comes together. Thanks for your video.
First I’ve heard of this
@surfthejapstrat7010 on YT there are loads on amp techs allowing g for fly on the wall videos of repairs and mods. It falsely elevates their status in a way if they have loads of subscribers. But here is the thing about humble Bruce; he spent years at NAMM at his booth, was flown repeatedly to China to oversee product manufacturing, and had a production line of his own amps. Totally different level of amp builder than the current versions of yt amp techs.
That amp sounds fantastic...but I'm convinced there is nothing that sounds bad in your hands Shawn!
He could make a blender sound musical
LOL you got that right!
Stoked to see Egnater is offering his amp building seminars again! I was lucky to have purchased an original Seminar/JCM 800 from Bruce cause I wasn't able attend the amp building course. Killer Amp! Everyone walks out of that Seminar with a clean built, great sounding amp, and the most importantly.....knowledge of how amps work and some repair & tweaking skills. Priceless......I wanna go!!! lol. Thanks again Tubbs! great demo as usual.
Awesome sound AND design!
I’ve always wondered why every amp ever doesn’t have two master volumes. In most cases (at least in my opinion) you don’t want to change your tone, and if you know how to manipulate your gain through your guitar volume, you only need a little volume bump for solo spots. Cool to see Bruce thought on this!! His density and presence circuits have always been spot on too.
Awesome amp!!!
Sounds great! (Reminds me of a country version of Round and Round by Ratt....)
I thought it sounded like a low gain version of Round And Round also.
Round and round.... ;-)
...just give it time time time
@@79lpcustom ...what comes around goes around...I'll tell you whyyyy...whyyyyy...
Shawn , great video. i took the class and built the 20 watt amp. it was a wonderful experience. thanks for your demo.
The Egnater class amps sound great. I built one in 2008 and still use it. Straight up JTM45 clone with Bruce's custom turret. I changed the tubes on mine from the ultra clean JJs supplied at class and the results were impressive. Just ferocious growl. Sounds like Marshalls of old with a twinge of Fender.
Wow I think it really favors the Strat! Amazing tones coming from that sucker, great guitar too of course and great player!
a wonderful sound with brilliant playing, I can here every note beautifully.
WOW! That amp sounds killer! You sound great though it too.
Excellent demo. Totally captured the sounds and the vibe of these amps pretty well. You really do get a full featured single channel amp by doing the class. I have the 50 watt EL34 version and I've gotta say, from hearing the 20 watt amp in the room during my class and hearing this demo, the 20 watt doesn't give anything to the 50 watt at all. The tones are near identical. I use mine weekly at band rehearsal.
Sounds amazing ! And 20 watts is perfect !
That amp sounds perfect !
Great tones and awesome playing as usual Shawn!
I WANT ONE!!! Seems amazing! I want to attend this class!!!!
Nice demo. Great tones!! Hello to Bruce Egnater
Clean channel is more like Fenderlish than TDX module of my M4 preamp originated by Mr.Bruce Egnater himself as well as the clean of 4100 head. In short more advanced and balanced sound designed for universal use...Anyway, good demo vids, thanks Shawn.
Ya the clean tone, especially with the bright switch enabled, sounded awesome. With the added gain boost this is really a dream amp; fendery clean, amazing Plexi crunch and not-quite-brown-sound gain boost, plus nice master volume and added EQ options.
End of the month I’m going, building the 50watt!!!!!
I had one of these amps pre built. I wish I hadn't sold it. Incredible sounding amp.
Wow Shawn, that amp sounds fantastic!
I have an earlier 50 watt version of the seminar head that just rips! Just wish it had an effects loop.
Maybe reach out to Bruce? It not hard to add an FX loop.
I had one of these....I still regret selling it. Sounded incredible.
How was the volume at 20watts? Had a bad experience with a Bugera 22watt combo that always got drowned out when playing with a loud band so im suspicious of anything under 30-35watts actually being heard in a small show/jam session with no P.A for the amps.
Those sound pretty damn good. Looks like you can get the Fender clean AND the hot rodded Marshall in one package.
Cool stuff Shawn
Bruce is one of the best! and so is Shawn... ;-)
The average player is not Shawn Tubbs. He makes everything sound great. I am interested in what speaker(s) were used.
Thanks!! I used a Bogner closed-back 2x12 cab loaded with Cele V30 speakers. I used a Royer 121 and Shure SM57 on the cab.
A Plexi Tweaker! Nice. Wish i could buy this off the shelf. Sounds better than the Marshall Origin - only wish there were a super-low wattage setting for my apartment bedroom.
Nice demo, Shawn.
I think you can buy the amp directly from Bruce.
Seems like you could use the master volume to play at bedroom volumes and still have an over-driven tone, as Shawn does around 9:00 into the video.
Very nice sounding litle amp by mr Egnater snd fantastic Demo done by an amezing musicisn.
Big big sound , very well done
Great playing....Great tone!
The song reminds me of a genre-bent / more tasteful take on Lay It Down by Ratt lmao. Awesome playing as always dude.
I like solid state rectifiers. They are tighter sounding. I have a couple amps that have the option of tube/SS rectifier. I think both are SS.
Love it! So I guess you have to take the class to be able to get one?
What kind of speakers are you going threw sounds great
I'd love to get this in 4- kt88 5w/50/100w output with the 59 marshall input jumper do hicky with the patch cable and some very high quality caps in all the right places!!!
Reach out to Dave! Maybe he can build you something.
sounds great. great playing
I wish I could break away to do this class, also wish I could gift it to several friends...
You got a twin brother? You guys are killin!
I'm stealing the lick at 1:32. Thanks.
Me too
I just want the kit!
This amp sounds awesome! Shawn, what cab did you use in the vid? Also, would you happen to know if any of the Egnater Amps that are for sale sound like this one in the vid?
Thanks, I used my Bogner closed 2x12 cab with Celestion V 30's.
The September class is full, sorry. There are spots available in the October 6/7 class. Don't wait too long. Email me at begnater@aol.com or visit www.ampbuildingclass.com for details.
Sounds great man!!
I loved my REBEL 20 before it was stolen 8 years ago
Awesome Sound Shawn, what pickups you have in the black strat ?
How's the volume at 20watts? Had a bad experience with a Bugera 22watt combo that always got drowned out when playing with a loud band so im suspicious of anything under 30-35watts actually being heard in a small show/jam session with no P.A for the amps.
This thing sounds killer. Where can I get one?
Your also using a Humbucker in a Strat guitar, we want to hear signal coil
Lovely sounding amp. And as ever, a cool demo.
Would be nice to mod it so that the other switches on the front panel could also be footswitched. Possible? Without having to resort to relay switching?
Maybe it can be done! Reach out to Bruce about it.
Would be really nice to do this, but sadly i'm on the wrong continent.
PS shame there are no circuit diagrams but i guess i can see why not.
great!!!!
BRUCE I GOT TO HAVE ONE. WOWOWOWO
Hi Shawn, great playin´as always! Am I right, that you don´t use the ox this time?
No, I always mic up my cabinets when I demo an amp. Bogner 2x12 closed back loaded with Cele V 30s.
Who needs dirt pedals when you can have this beauty?
Shawn, great review... what cabinet are you using for this review out of curiosity?
I'm using my Bogner 2x12 closed back cab. It's got Cele V30s. Thanks!
Hello Shawn!! That is a amazing tone, I know that you can have a good tone even in a small solid state 15w amp hahaha, but if you can give me a tip. I have a Focus rite áudio interface, and by just recording with a 57 kind mic, straight to the interface, in a plain track in the reaper, my tone in the record is not warming as is in live, with the same amp and guitar. So how I get a warmer tone? I must have a mixer before the áudio interface? Or I have to put any plugin in the record software? Nice tone again 👍🏽
A proper mic pre can help but you can get the most tonal variance simply by moving the 57 around the cone of the speaker.
@@ShawnTubbs thanks Shawn

Lovely!!!!!
Sounds great, he should sell that model!
You gotta make it yourself, bro. It's powered by the knowledge and heart you put into it.
I think you can buy the amp from Bruce.
whats going on with the gain knob.. when you turned it up it moved on its own? 5:47
Any chance to have the kit in Europe to build it on my own?
Link doesn't work...
When's your CD out?
What transformers does it have?
I wouldn’t buy anything based on shawn’s demos. They all sound good. Demo something that sounds bad once so we believe any of the other gear actually sounds good. Lol
Sean, what is the Suhr unit that is below the Egnater, aas seen in the video at about 2:04?
(Oops! Sorry for misspelling your name...)
That is a Suhr Reactive Load box and ACE cab emulator. I might be demoing it in the future.
OH! OK. it is two separate units. Thanks Shawn, I thought that there was something new out that I could not find any information on, looked to me like a very fancy Suhr Reactive Load box that might have "been in the works" and so I got a bit excited. Those are both very good products, and I would love to see your take on them! Thanks so much for your reply! Really love your work!
Tight switch adds/removes negative feedback?
Not sure on that one. I guess I should take the class!;)
Changes a coupling cap early in the preamp
Guessing the cathode bypass cap? Maybe .68uF for the tight and 1uF or 2.2uF for the "normal". Or the coupling caps, but I think that might produce a pop when switching.
Coupling cap after the input tube. does not pop.
Sounds a little like "Round and Round" by Ratt. lol
Agreed!!
Hey Shawn,,,just to let you know,,,,you can get a guitar playing job anywhere 👍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍🎸🎸🍻🇺🇸
Sounds great but too complicated for me.
