Such a beautiful performance. Exactly like you said you wanted it: calm and purposeful. And thanks for sharing about your grandmother. Puts the prelude into perspective.
Thank you very much!
One of my absolute favourites of Bach showing the rise and fall of emotion around death. Yet, also that clear sense of moving on beyond- as you state. I play it a bit slower - my technique being a limitation! Thank you
Yes, isn't it a wonderful piece? I can see why it's one of your favourites. Tim
Thank you for the perspective. It is a wonderful piece of music. Your tempo and phrasing are pleasant. I have to go just a tad slower because of arthritis :) (so I add a quiet, bright stop to help compensate...). I like the way you play these pieces "for real" and not for concert, or for a grade from a teacher.
Thank you for that! Yes, I agree it's wonderful music and I'm glad you enjoy playing it. For all these films, I've tried to say something and then just to play the piece once through to demonstrate the points, rather than as a studied "performance" - so it's sometimes less polished than a prepared recording would be - but as you say that does create an immediacy that I'm rather enjoying. So thanks for the encouragement! Tim
