I sat in an Aviator Grand Touring, a Navigator Black Label, and a Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series III and they were on another level of luxury. For those who are wondering, it was at Motor Bella at M1 Concourse in Pontiac, MI.
I used to like the sound of this engine, but I made the mistake of watching WRs Genesis GS80 review before this, and now the Aviator's engine sounds cheap, hollow and unrefined.
You're right, the engine does sound taxed for some reason. It's strange cause this 3.0L ecoboost is actually a good engine, and 400HP is quite a lot of power even in a 4,800lb SUV, so I doubt the engine is taxed but it sounds very coarse and grainy for a luxury vehicle, the 3.5L Ecoboost in the Navigator is pretty quiet and refined. Not sure why the 3.0L is so loud.
I love these videos because it's kind of what I would do if I was in a real life GTA V game. I mean who let's you beat their cars like this? At any rate, good solid entertainment.
You do realize that almost all luxury vehicles are just churched up versions of lesser vehicles, right? The Infiniti QX-60 is a churched up Nissan Pathfinder, the Audi Q7 is a churched up Volkswagen Touareg, the Cadillac Escalade is a churched up Chevy Suburban, and the Lexus GX and LX are just churched Toyota Highlanders... to name a few. The money that a company saves by not having to invest in a totally new and separate platform is money that can be re-invested into material quality, technology, safety, performance and ride quality. In this way, the consumer gets a better product at a better price.
@@dave3682 Yes Dave, I understand all of this - except the GX and LX are still body on frame construction and are closer to the Toyota Land Cruiser than the Highlander, but I get your point. That aside, it still doesn't invalidate my comment; lipstick on pig is still lipstick on a pig and for $75k I am not choosing a Ford product. Except maybe the Raptor, those are pretty sweet.
@@Namesi I understand that. But I do think that brand loyalties and brand dis-loyalties are foolish. Shop everything, compare everything, drive everything, and choose the best vehicle for yourself, regardless of brand. In this way, you will always ensure you get the best vehicle for your price range. Do not rule out any vehicle just because of brand and do not purchase any vehicle just because of its brand. Worth pointing out, also, that the Aviator starts around $50k. As with most vehicles, its only as expensive as you make it.
