Anyang 55 forging 1.5" stock

Anyang 55 lb power hammer forging 1.5" square stock to a tapper with flat dies and one heat. Used a Tabasco chili forge

Is the strength of the hammer less powerful substantially if you had just under an inch of space between your. Material and the hammer?

Max, yes if you had only one inch between the material and the top die, you would lose forging power.
