Macro Photography with an Old Scanner

I read an article about optics in CCD scanners and ran to look for advertisements for their sale. Found a non-working one for $5.
Formally, the scanner lens is used as an addition to the existing lens. It doesn’t give much additional magnification, but it does allow focusing at close range. In combination with a portrait lens, it allows you to get really impressive results.
