Hi friend. I bought mine today. When I put the USB cable in the energy, all led switch on, and sometime it quickly turns off. It not turn on in sequence, like you show in the video. Also, the app say "baterry is too low". Do you know what is happen?

Hey all, just got this Gimbal, but noticed that the smart follow feature only works when the gimbal is in “L” mode… is that how it’s supposed to work? Anyone have any insight there?
on android, if you connect your phone's bluetooth with the gimbal outside of the zy cami app, the zoom and record buttons work in any app, including my phones stock cam app.
Can you make a crane shot with it? I mean pan forward from bottom (ground level) to top holding gimball normally (not upside down), not like in DJI OM6 where you have to handle gimball sideway.

Hi mate, Smooth Q4 arrived to replace my OM5 however trigger doesn’t work with native camera app like Q3 or DJI gimbals, I prefer Zhiyun for its mode buttons and to be used with iPhones native camera which is much better than shooting in ZY Cami. If trigger doesn’t work, it just fails as a gimbal, what’s your thoughts? I used iSteady X, OM4, OM5, Q3 and Q4
@@OttoJulian_ in Q3 record button would work in native camera app to take picture or video, same with DJI gimbals, but in Q4 record butting doesn’t function in native camera app for IOS. Unless my one is faulty?
Oh I see. You said trigger, not shutter/record button. I also like using the native camera app over the manufacturer’s app. I don’t think your gimbal is faulty, but for me, I just use the record button on the phone all the time so that is not such a big deal for me

I mean, if I record a video at 09:00am my local time the video is recording as 06:00am. hello, no need to reset bluetooth BUT you need to make sure that one of the phones is not connected to the gimbal when you try to connect the other one
Great video thx. I would like the gimbal to just stabilize my phone while I'm connected with for example a videoconference tool like zoom. So I can stream steady shots. Would this work? Or does the cami app need to be active for the gimbal to stabilize?
I feel that the Ultra is a bit too big for this kind of gimbal, specially if you are going to use it with a phone case. If that's the case, the Smooth 5 might be a better choice for you

I find that when I try to go upside down I that more often than not the gimbal spazzes out turning every which way and then turns off. Is there any more tips for using it close to the ground upside down? Am I doing something wrong?
There is one way to flip it upside down otherwise it will go crazy. Not sure if I mentioned this in the video, but the movement has to be done towards the side making a 180 flip
Hi, I would like to ask does it has an auto follow mode, like if your subject is going to move does it follow does it has the capability to follow the subject?
HELP. Have to do the six-side calibration it only gets to step one. it is always off by a degree or two - not level horizontally. using the Zhiuyn Gimbal Tools "Level Trim" function I found setting tilt to -2.00 now it is level. However, whenever I turn on the gimbal now it beeps. Regardless the manual and the software just give no clue how to actually perform steps 1 - 6 - it just stays on step 1 - need better instructions. Also now it will not do the zy cami calibration. It always says calibration failed.
Hi Otto, Thanks for your video. I just bought Smooth Q4, installed the apps and activated. I tried to play around. However, the Joystick can only turn the arm to the right, not left, not up and down. What may be the problem?
@@OttoJulian_ Hi Otto, the joystick fixed. It works normally. However the Smooth Q4 Gimbal is completely not what I expected. The main problem is that it sometimes generate some "wo-wo-wo~~~~~" noise when recording video. Whenever the Gimbal rotate or pan a little, it generates the annoying noise. The other problem is the underslung mode. I have to rotate it down very very very ~~~~ slowly, like an idiot, otherwise the arm will rotate crazily, lock itself and switch to standby mode. However even succeed to underslung mode, it also sometimes rotate crazily, lock itself and switch to standby mode, if not move smoothly.

sometimes these gimbals can hold it but it will not be 100% secure and some gimbals will not balance correctly. I don't have this gimbal anymore so I can't test it. The proven way for it to work is to buy a special adapter that has the shape of a phone where you can mount the gopro. I haven't seen those in a while but they were top sellers a few years ago.
Hi Otto, thanks for the Tutorial, quite helpful. question: at Minutes 8:36, while in video mode, you tap on the video settings and it shows that you have 4k at 60 FPS showing and selected. i have the smooth q4, and i do not have that option showing, i am using s22 Ultra, kindly advise if i am doing something wrong... i even made the purchase based on the fact that your video shows that 4k 60 is available, while it is not on Dji OM 6. thanks in advance
Hello Khodor! the reason that it shows 60fps is because I am using an iPhone for that video. Android based devices will have some limitations, including no 60fps. youtube thinks that you wrote a website link because you didn't separate properly the "please.how" and this comment went on a "held for review" section. Anyway, the gesture control, you activate it on the app, then you need to do the gesture when the camera is looking at you. The trigger has a few functions, I do explain how to use them on the video
I have on my channel a few videos comparing different gimbals. Android will have a few limitations compared to iPhones but this is the same for different brands. You need to look for one that suits your shooting style
@@OttoJulian_ Yes that's what my problem, couldn't able to find a proper gimbal for Android, I hav watched many videos and at last totally lost n confused. I know there r limitations for Android, still decided to buy one, which suits most and works fine with atleast features I can use it. Just mention one gimbal that fits me as I m a beginner.

I use PF mode but it does not stay on place, the moment I lift the gimbal to ie. upward direction, the phone goes to different directions. I can't use POV too
I'm planning on buying the DJI OSMO SE 2022 and have been wondering if I can use the main camera as a vlogging setup while going around. My issue is that I don't like using the selfie cam while vlogging, do you have any tips for me about this Sir? Because I've seen that some gimbals won't be able to pan 360 so meaning I can't use the main camera to shoot myself while walking around.
Hi. Yeah this gimbal will not let you turn the camera itself around. I mean, you could just place the phone the other way around (screen facing the front)
Hi Otto, I enjoy your tutorial. It is very clear. One issue is the auto tracking isn´t working consistently. When I get it it holds for less than a minute then the square turns red and it stops tracking. Also when I push the trigger once the green square doesn´t always appear. There is a square but doesn´t turn green and gimbal doesn´t track. What am I doing wrong?
Yeah the tracking is a bit inconsistent specially on Android, I have mentioned this on my video reviews (since this video is a tutorial I don’t point out these kind of issues because the idea is to explain how everything works). When you press the trigger and it doesn’t track it’s usually because it didn’t find a subject to track, so you are not doing anything wrong 🙂

Thanks Otto, for this video and other fine videos you did. I bought the Smooth Q4 after seeing all the good reviews on RUclips. Just curious, in PF mode and L modes, does yours lock the Tilt axis. Mine didn't. I returned and get a replacement but the 2nd one does the same: the tilt axis does not lock in PF and L modes. I reported to Zhiyun tech support but am curious if that's how it is supposed to work. I have a video showing this. Thank you.
@@OttoJulian_ no it’s not. In L mode I just tilt the gimbal forward and the phone stays straight a little then tilt toward. Tech support said I went over the tilt axis range but it wasn’t that much. Guess I can’t use L mode like flash light mode
Hi sir, I’ve had searched for a gimbal for a while and loved the compact format of the Q4 but unfortunately I’ve found a lot of complaints about it just breaking easily, like out of nowhere not turning on anymore and such stuff and the manufacturer not giving the proper support for the gimbal and it’s defects, as you seen on the comments of this video and in your own experience, can I buy it safely without having any problems? Like, I most probably won’t be losing all my money for a product that had a defect? Because here this gimbal is in the medium expensive side and when you buy it you don’t want to waste your money, thanks already!
Nobody wants to waste any money. Gimbals are electronic devices and just like any other they can malfunction at some point. Mine is still working. I’ve had more expensive brands fail on me. Something else is that people (some of them) break them because they don’t know how to use them, they turn them on without a phone, or the grab it from the arms when it’s on, etc.
@@OttoJulian_ thank you for the reply. I haven't noticed anything out of normal. But still, that feeling that I may have damaged the motors remains in the back of my mind. I can't seem to find any information about turning the stabilizer without the smartphone, have you read that warning somewhere?
@@TheVahnKaiser There is a warning in the user menu like this: SMOOTH-Q4 should have a smartphone mounted on and balanced before powering on. smart follow =tracking? if so, once you activate tracking it will free the pan and tilt axis and the gimbal will move according to your subject.

hi, sport mode means faster movement or reaction time by the gimbal when you move it, so you should follow the action when players have the ball

hi, make sure bluetooth on the phone is not connected to anythng else. Turn on the gimbal WITH the phone on it first, then open the app

Not normal. Try to go inside the app and search for the joystick option. If changing that doesn’t work you might have a faulty gimbal

sometimes these gimbals can hold it but it will not be 100% secure and some gimbals will not balance correctly. I don't have this gimbal anymore so I can't test it. The proven way for it to work is to buy a special adapter that has the shape of a phone where you can mount the gopro. I haven't seen those in a while but they were top sellers a few years ago.

question: at Minutes 8:36, while in video mode, you tap on the video settings and it shows that you have 4k at 60 FPS showing and selected.
i have the smooth q4, and i do not have that option showing, i am using s22 Ultra, kindly advise if i am doing something wrong... i even made the purchase based on the fact that your video shows that 4k 60 is available, while it is not on Dji OM 6.

Hello Khodor! the reason that it shows 60fps is because I am using an iPhone for that video. Android based devices will have some limitations, including no 60fps. This happens also with other gimbals, including the OM6.

youtube thinks that you wrote a website link because you didn't separate properly the "please.how" and this comment went on a "held for review" section. Anyway, the gesture control, you activate it on the app, then you need to do the gesture when the camera is looking at you. The trigger has a few functions, I do explain how to use them on the video
Can u suggest a best gimbal for Android phone???? My phone is Vivo V23 5G. Confused which one to buy for Android.
I have on my channel a few videos comparing different gimbals. Android will have a few limitations compared to iPhones but this is the same for different brands. You need to look for one that suits your shooting style
@@OttoJulian_ Yes that's what my problem, couldn't able to find a proper gimbal for Android, I hav watched many videos and at last totally lost n confused. I know there r limitations for Android, still decided to buy one, which suits most and works fine with atleast features I can use it. Just mention one gimbal that fits me as I m a beginner.
What if the volume buttons are in the middle of the phone? How do I place it in the clamp?
There is no workaround, but you probably won’t need to use those buttons when you are using the gimbal

some Android phones will limit access to their camera. I've only seen this happens with older ones though

About the L mode, it's to lock the phone camera direction stay lockedand and lock the motor angle not means lock the gimbal don't move with your hand.

Hi Otto. This is the most detailed tutorial. I am still having problem with my gimbal smooth q4. Would you be able to help me with it? it does not seem to follow the way I want it to be. I use PF mode but it does not stay on place, the moment I lift the gimbal to ie. upward direction, the phone goes to different directions. I can't use POV too
it should not go to different directions, what are the status lights showing you?

I'm planning on buying the DJI OSMO SE 2022 and have been wondering if I can use the main camera as a vlogging setup while going around. Hi. Yeah this gimbal will not let you turn the camera itself around. I mean, you could just place the phone the other way around (screen facing the front)

Hi Otto, I enjoy your tutorial. It is very clear. One issue is the auto tracking isn´t working consistently. When I get it it holds for less than a minute then the square turns red and it stops tracking. Also when I push the trigger once the green square doesn´t always appear. There is a square but doesn´t turn green and gimbal doesn´t track. What am I doing wrong?
Yeah the tracking is a bit inconsistent specially on Android, I have mentioned this on my video reviews (since this video is a tutorial I don’t point out these kind of issues because the idea is to explain how everything works). When you press the trigger and it doesn’t track it’s usually because it didn’t find a subject to track, so you are not doing anything wrong 🙂

Gimbal will work with older firmware update but if possible it should be updated
what happens if you accident to turn on the gimbal without phone? because i realise the gimbal is on when i put back in the case.
it's not going to break when it happens but eventually can damage the gimbal

Thanks Otto, for this video and other fine videos you did. I bought the Smooth Q4 after seeing all the good reviews on RUclips. Just curious, in PF mode and L modes, does yours lock the Tilt axis. Mine didn't. I returned and get a replacement but the 2nd one does the same: the tilt axis does not lock in PF and L modes. I reported to Zhiyun tech support but am curious if that's how it is supposed to work. I have a video showing this. Thank you.
That’s not normal. Are you pressing the trigger? (Sport mode bypasses those modes)
@@OttoJulian_ no it’s not. In L mode I just tilt the gimbal forward and the phone stays straight a little then tilt toward. Tech support said I went over the tilt axis range but it wasn’t that much. Guess I can’t use L mode like flash light mode

Yeah the tilt axis has a limit. Once you pass that limit the phone will just “get stuck” on that position and will move along with the gimbal
Hi sir, I’ve had searched for a gimbal for a while and loved the compact format of the Q4 but unfortunately I’ve found a lot of complaints about it just breaking easily, like out of nowhere not turning on anymore and such stuff and the manufacturer not giving the proper support for the gimbal and it’s defects, as you seen on the comments of this video and in your own experience, can I buy it safely without having any problems? Like, I most probably won’t be losing all my money for a product that had a defect? Because here this gimbal is in the medium expensive side and when you buy it you don’t want to waste your money, thanks already!
Nobody wants to waste any money. Gimbals are electronic devices and just like any other they can malfunction at some point. Mine is still working. I’ve had more expensive brands fail on me. Something else is that people (some of them) break them because they don’t know how to use them, they turn them on without a phone, or the grab it from the arms when it’s on, etc.

I've turned the gimball ON without the smartphone, several times, when I was trying to update the firmware. It did twitch a lot... how bad is it?

I’m not sure if they print it on the manual or not. I know I’ve read this before multiple times but can’t confirm exactly where and when.
@@TheVahnKaiser There is a warning in the user menu like this: SMOOTH-Q4 should have a smartphone mounted on and balanced before
powering on. If no smartphones are detected when powering on the gimbal,
the motor will make a sound and enter standby mode automatically.
