Funny how we need someone to do a "Herrera on Hazard job" now. You know who used to do it for us but no one talks about now? FRED. Actually an underrated player imo.

I'm a Palace fan and will be there tomorrow. That was hilarious to watch - funny chap. Decent tactical analysis of Palace too, but need to swap Eze and Olise's positions as they cut in with their stronger foot. I actually feel sorry for United fans with them two and Mateta constantly running at Maguire and Casemiro. It's gonna be brutal I'm afraid.
Our record and ability when they both play is unrecognisable. Just been injured most of season. Adam Wharton is also an incredible talent since he came in January - his passing into the channels for them is lethal.

Am I alone in feeling we should undoubtedly be considering Eze over Elise? They share similar attributes. He admittedly lacks the 'X' factor of Olise, but in exchange, he has a far greater work ethic, robustness and a more team-focused game. We have enough 'individuals' in the wide areas intent on being the leading-man, in so doing, rendering our number 9 inert.

Palace have been one of those mad teams. They came up a decade ago. Never seem to be in major threat of being relegated. Never push for Europe. They just seem to sit comfortably between 12th-16th-ish place. Then they show up at the business end of the season and beat some of the big boys 😂

I prefer Eze over Olise. Should be in England team, but Southgate is a tit.
I understand the frustration at him playing the same way every week but as he mentioned in his interview w Gary Neville, I think it's fair enough of ETH to keep playing the way he is given it has worked before when we played some very very good football towards the start of last year (Camp Nou esp). The issue with us at the moment is personnel and while we wait for that to be addressed in coming transfer windows (hopefully with a recruitment competent set-up), we need to be playing the same style of football so that when we eventually do get the players right, we're able to bring the quality back to its highest level. As ridiculous as it is having conceded 600 shots and sitting at a goal difference of 1 with 4 games left in the season, Man Utd in Jan-23 was some of the most enjoyable and exciting football I have watched and we need to replicate that on a more consistent basis by bringing in players that fit the style.
This is very well researched and informed. Well done. It's rare that ANYONE pays us the respect to actually understand our qualities and tactics (Palace I mean)
You had me rolling this whole preview.
Knowing us, we’ll see Eriksen or Mctominay meaning Mainoo will be exposed. He’ll be knackered by 60 mins. We’ll sub him for Amrabat, who’ll also be exposed. Antony, Garnacho and Fernandes won’t pass to Hojlund and he’ll get frustrated again. Amad will come on for Antony and get a goal and we’ll lose 3-1. It’s usually how it goes.
Ten Hag seriously needs to learn how to adapt when hit with injuries
My optimism has long gone. It could be a good game. Two mid table class teams battling it out. But we have just had three games against effectively second division sides and struggled. So Palace at home could take the win. But it is a case of who do we play. Having what was once a world class midfielder stuck in defence, seems a waste. Midfield. Toss a coin. The Staffie on one wing. I wouldn't ever play Anthony. So someone else on the other wing. The Ever ready bunny, Bruno. And Hojlund. When I look at your probable team choice it just gets more depressing. We aren't playing for anything now. may as well experiment. The horse has bolted. at least it would give us something different to watch.

Eze is worth more than £60m and Man Utd is an unhappy, disjointed club. I can't see Eze wanting the move at the moment.

Wanted to look it up because he seems like a ghost in nearly every game I've watched this season. McTominay has completed 464 total passes this year in the Prem. For reference on how embarrassing that is. Amrabat, who ISN'T FREAKING PLAYING has completed 408....in nearly 1000 less minutes. Make it make sense.

Full strength squad this time , players are hungry , rested & very confident
it was 4-0 and a direct Glasner instruction (shoot near post, he said he told them to do that in the post-match interview) directly resulted in 2 goals, and Edouard hitting the post. Centre backs kept getting isolated 1v1 in transition against top dribblers. It was such a dominant Palace display, they subbed off Eze, Olise and Mateta to rest them. Masterclass is right.

I question our recruitment. We signed Mount when we could have signed Eze or Gibbs White.
Erik Ten Hag is responsible for Mctominay's runs and positioning. It's clearly a tactical instruction from management. He knows how to be disciplined - it's an instruction for him to not be.
Mctominay played deep for solskjaer in several high profile games with Fred and didn't go walkabout like he does nowadays and - Ten Hag tells him to do it.
This is the thing that people like Howson don't seem to understand about McTominay.
He does what he is told!
Every manager has cited how reliable he is, and how he trains harder than most and does whatever is asked of him.
He doesn't piss and moan when a manager asks him to play out of position, he doesn't throw a strop if he's told to play somewhere different from game to game.
If he is playing a certain style in a given position its because he has been told to do that by the gaffer.
If Ten Hag brings a defenisve midfielder off and send Scott forward that's not McTominays job to be the DM. It's the managers job to provide the team witha clear and coherent system to manage the shift in positions.
I'd be tempted to play a 4-4-2 diamond with Garna and Hojlund as duo strikers. Bruno and Mount behind them and Mainoo and Casemiro as two 6s. Back 4 picks itself based on who's fit. If we stay compact and Wan Bissaka doesn't have a brain fart in the 88th min, we should win. On the upside, atleast Rashford is most likely not available.

My take away from EtH’s interview with Gary Neville was he plays the players that he has that understand the program, even though several due to injury are not good enough for the program.

We have won more than 50% of the games McTominay has started. No one outside of some of the rapidly rotating defence has that stat.
McTominay has the highest league goals to minutes played of the entire team.

lad hes been given no gametime to adapt, and when he has played at DM and started hes done well, the first chelsea and city games are good examples of that
@@aadi8568 He managed to get through those games without falling on his face. I think "done well" is only compared to the rest of his performances. He did nothing to suggest that he's the answer to any problems. I don't know if he wore different boots in Serie A, or whether they have different grass and he struggled to cope with the grass over here, but how many times a game can a guy slip on his arse and no one think, "Why does he keep doing that?"
