never seen anything rot apart like jeeps/chryslers of the past 20 or so years.
i had to chuckle when you slipped those arms of the list underneath without checking how the subframe looked. i'm not a mechanic by trade, but i've seen more than a few of them that would be in danger of folding or crinkling without some careful placement.
once my sister-in-law tells us her liberty suddenly became undriveable. it showed up at my shop on a flatbed, with some serious negative camber, toed out. ball joint popped out on the driver's side. fix that out in the weeds, go to test it out, ball joint's out on the passenger side, too. she obviously drove it with some signs of failure but it didn't have a ton of miles.
trailing arms will rot off, especially seeing the interstate in the winter. front control arms too, passenger side.
factory lugnuts + aftermarket hub assy's with chinesium wheel studs. anti-seize and proper torque is still no match for salt. assuming alum rims, what i like to do is beat on a 17 12pt or an 18mm short and put a 5ft breaker bar on and hope i can snap it. otherwise better have some good drill bits.

On my RV Road trip, we stopped at Future Ford in Indio Ca for an oil change on my 2022 F250 with 57k miles.. #1 took an hour...#2 45 min in they came to me and said one of my batteries were bad (got to replace both) $500...#3 then came and said i need a front brake job. WRONG!!! I checked and the pads were 2/3 worn and both discs were smooth. I told him they were fine for another 10k miles. So a "reputable dealer" tried to get to spend an additional $600 for a front brake job...😂 I did replace both batteries, so my $175 oil change turned into $675...

When I lived in Kansas I took my corvette to Western Auto for upper ball joints, $600. A few weeks later I went to a small shop for the lower ball joints. He said that I also needed the upper ones. My husband didn't want to do anything about getting ripped off at Western Auto.

It gives shops a bad rap there are still shops that if it looks like you don't understand what they are saying they know they can rip you off it's not right to mess with people's trust they are trusting you to tell them what is wrong and a price to fix it
but they are not all like that it's sad and disgusting that there still a bunch of scumbag shops out there that is why I have friends and family that I am the one fixing their cars and sometimes I have to put my own race car off

I had it fixed this week with a new compressor for $650 from an ASE CERTIFIED mechanic .

This just literally happened to my granddaughter today. They said she needed new struts, brakes all around and a 4 wheel alignment. $2000 was the quoted price. The struts were practically new when she bought the car last year and the brakes were new. The previous owner had done all that work before her mom bought it. She's only put 4000 miles on the car since she got it. They didn't even take the wheels off the car to inspect the brakes because she forgot to bring the wheel lock adapter. How can you measure how much brake pads are worn without taking the wheels off? I told her to take it to another shop.

I think it’s pretty good that you checked this person’s jeep out even though that’s not your thing . I did have a shop tell me a bunch of things wrong with my brakes and it really was only a brake booster and I think for $29.99 I got a rebuilt one (if I remember correctly) from Big Wheel 45 years ago and have never taken my vehicles in for repairs since. But if I was near you I would definitely go to you . I have a 2000 F250 7.3 I bought in 1999 and a 2018 F250 6.2 gas both crew cabs . I enjoy your videos thanks . Seems like your happy with your new shop on your own . I’m glad to see that for you . Take care !

Took to dealership about a sensor went on vacation called said it was ready told me a mouse got to the wiring around the battery had my doubts but what do I know drove off the lot 1/2 mile down the road had to bring it back light came on again sensor error again wasn’t to happy about it they replaced the sensor for the cost of the part Not sure how to argue a mouse got the wiring when this was the original issue how do you question that. Do you give bad parts back to customer if they ask for them I may start doing that so I can see the part that’s in question is that wrong to do

Every now and then, we have to do some chairty work. I did a steering angel sensor on 2014 escape this weekend for free
I felt bad for the customer and the shop, which they had to put 3 junkyard engines in that thing. Only because that's the only way the customer could afford the job.
Also that jeep sounds like a belle tire estimate arod. My longtime friend spent a decade at that place and the service writer's DO have sales commissions and contests for most sold items at the end of quarter. It's normally for a 3 day vacation at a fancy race track.

I got an estimate to change out a water pump at three different shops. Two shops were about the same at around $750. The 3d shop was a dealership and quoted me over $900. I told him what the average quote was so far and he said let me look at the numbers. I told him the part was around $220. He called me back and blamed the high price on a mixup with the numbers. He met my lowest price offer so I gave him the job because he took care of me before.

I have not been taken advantage of but I've assisted friends who have had reservations about what they were told (mostly females) and more often than not, it's been a money grab by the shops, which is bullshit.
Any shop that upsells instead of telling people what they need is bogus. A lady I know had a shop tell her she needed a new CV axle, looked at it, and it had slight seepage, could press the boot and no cracks and feel grease in there, so definitely did not need replaced, pathetic.

Just a couple weeks ago my best friend brought his Mazda in for service. One of those oil change deals, tire rotation and cabinet air filter for like $79.
They told him he needed an air filter $60, alignment $150, and a... and I quote, "chassis bolt inspection" for $175...😂
They gave him no documentation showing the alignment was off.
He received a video walk around from the tech who inspected it, and all the tech mentioned was to probably change the air filter...
Shady service writer...he paid for his oil change, denied thr rest and left. "Chassis bolt inspection"...? Seriously!?!?

An issue we are having in east central Florida is every reputable independent repair shop had to close up during and after the lockdowns. The last 2 just since January unfortunately so we are forced to use dealers.😢
