    Nicely Done Roger! Came for fluke jigging technique but got more impressed with your cooking skills lol!
    It’s been year of shorts for me. Lost count at this point, more than 200 shorts 😂 I am going to keep working and hopefully I catch half a dozen keepers by end of the season!
    My Labrax 9ML arrived last night and can’t wait to try it this weekend 😬😅

    Love the catch and cook episodes! For the sauce, do you ever strain out the garlic before adding the rest? I follow a fluke recipe you did years ago where you filet the white side and roast the rest of the whole fish. Going to try this one this weekend. Keep forgetting to use the spinner blade tips I bought from you so will try those too!

      Haha that's from way back! and nah we never strain garlic but you certainly can.

    Everything you said about whole full cooking, but you forgot one thing the marrow in their bones is the flavor. My father never ate a flounder or a fluke without frying it hole and flowering it to fry and they were delicious.

    Nice job bro , always catching nice keepers ,amazing technique. I have a question tho , I’ve been trying many different methods for fluking like the single jig and the high low but I’m having a lot of trouble catching keepers. Last year I did great on the single jig and the high low but this year I get lots of fish but now keepers .Do you have any tips?

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing  3 месяца назад

      Stick with the 1/4oz single jig and 6" jerk shad - get all the right gear for it and learn that technique inside/out - it's your best shot at keeper sized fish. This year has been rough up and down the coast...keepers were caught but it's been a grind, so don't waste time with a teaser rig just weed through the shorts for the next keeper.

    Nix the parsley...use capers instead ....brown butter sauce with capers ...a classic ....yummy

    How do you avoid sea robins while fishing for fluke?

    • @CookingandFishing
      @CookingandFishing  3 месяца назад

      There's no avoiding them but you can feel the difference in how they bite and pull your jig away from robins. Robins generally have a scratchy, hesitant bite whereas fluke bites are much sharper and more percussive - the classic 1 or 2 tap are usually fluke.
