The whole mercy killing theme is back again but this time done exceptionally well. Kath is a complex character and she's trying to stand on principle even to the extent of putting herself in jail-- great acting job very well done by Kate Hood.
@Eugene DeGeorge- i completely agree with you! It is done incredibly well and Kate Hood does a great job in playing Kath Maxwell! You really empathise with her character and legitimately question what you would do if you were in that predicament...well scripted and well acted!
To the people who are saying Joan Ferguson's character got repetitive, I agree in part but imagine the show at the moment without her! She's never a dull character and helps keep us watching. Well done Maggie KP! Genuine question: Does it ever snow anywhere in Australia?
This really brings back vivid memories for me. I remember my schools tv very well usually the teacher's used a Ferguson TX televsion with video recorder on a cabinet with wheels showing programs for schools and colleges from the BBC that the teachers use to tape, and us kids sitting on the floor crossed leg pretending to shoot the dots of the tv screen with us kids pretending to use imaginary guns (with our fingers) making noises of gun fire as the dots disappeared counting down to the next programme. The teacher shouting us to be quite. This was would of been in the late 1970s and 80's. How many of you guys out there remember this or similar??
Though I'm more impressed with that VCR - capable of suspiciously studio quality fidelity, and in colour on their usually black and white telly, despite not being plugged in and no tape inserted.
@@deanhall4064 hell yes, that sounds very familiar. It wasn't till 1985 that our school had a VCR and we thought "wow, a video!!!". We watched a lot of ABC TV (Australia) shows like " infinity limited", "BTN- Behind the news" and an American one called "read all about it". Oh and yes, teachers shouting to be quiet even when no one was talking. Lol.
@@julabard She's more annoying than Cass. At least Cass was fairly sussed at times and was likeable. Merle is just an annoying, nosey twit. I actually used to work with someone exactly like her and even shared the same surname. Maybe this is why I dislike Merle so much.
@rayman760- I totally agree! Considering how she was like when she first entered Wentworth to where she is now- she has really come into her own and developed a backbone! Another great casting and another great example of character development at the back-end of the series!!
@ 22:27 Never caught this before. Lorelei sitting in the rec room is flashing herself to the camera, until Roach reaches over Lexi & pulls her skirt down. It's quick, so watch close!
Once again: Rita could have easily have told her biker friends on the outside to kill Joan for her, and they would have been happy to do it. Don't know why she was so set on doing it herself and getting life in jail.
That's cute what Merle did in the kitchen. I was thinking of snow when she did it. It's almost Christmas, and we don't have any snow yet. Boo hoo! You better keep taking your medicine, Merle. Don't listen to Janet! Merle put the tape in the oven? OMG! Fergo, Merv, and Joycey are going to all live together in peace under one roof. Ha, ha, ha! Feel compassion for Fergo? "It's like feeling sorry for a shark when it's taking your leg off!"
Joan needs a break! Her life has been a bit hectic in the last week or so, what with the backstabbing to win promotion, the bomb scare, tit for tat arson, gangland dealings, undercover police work, and her best friend being killed!
Kath is a Jekyll and Hyde character. She has a conscience about lying to keep out of prison, but doesn't give a stuff about how horrible she has been to everyone else.
Well Damn! Nancy is holier-than-though but she certainly handled Rita and The Freak like a Boss. The Freak deserves a hardcore takedown but she's not worth spending the rest of your life behind bars for murder... not to mention the other women would have likely had aggro to deal with off the back of Rita's shenanigans. And I'm not convinced Slasher and Bongo are worth killing Freaky Fergie and losing your freedom over. Poor Merle - I hate seeing her taken advantage of, but it's a very realistic situation. I will say one thing positive about Kath - it's obvious that Merle has become a substitute daughter for her and I do like seeing Kath look after Merle... well she tries to at any rate. Good lord Living Single Shacked Up With The Pringles. One guess how well Freaky Fergie Living With The Pringles will term out!
Ok so.....like most people on this I am an avid fan of Prisoner. So much so I know alot of the background characters and I take interest in seeing their development and how long they last in the series. I am sure there are many of you the same. Tina and Lorna are obviously the two longest, with Ronnie and Jacko not far behind. But there was another prisoner from fairly early days who ironically was called Rita. She's been missing for quite some time but I think she has mad a come back in these 're ent episodes, the frizzy blonde in the group when Lexie and Roach run by. Anyway I just wanted to say that. Totally out geeked myself
How come Rita isn't surprised when Nancy said she didn't kill her husband? In later episodes Nancy tells Rita she is isn't and he replied that she isn't surprised
41:10 Joan's comment 'it won't be in the first place you look, it'll be in the last place' well there'd hardly be any reason to continue looking for it after you find it o.O
I think the show relied too much on The Freak to keep the viewers at this point, all these attempts to 'get rid of Ferguson' and the writers always have somebody step in and save her just to keep her in the show.. It's repetitive. The Freak character ended up like a sucked orange.
she was found guilty, then had it overturned, i cant find anything where she discusses NOT having sex with a minor >> it was different back then, lol, really? it was and still is innappropriate
When Maggie Kirkpatrick talked about it being "Different back then", she was talking about the interaction between TV stars & their fans, and how today you would never have fans back to your home. She wasn't talking about the charges. As for the charges, she would have had to discuss it in court where she did deny it, with the judge concluding that he was "Not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that the offending occurred". One of the reasons for that would be that she denied it. You can't find anything when she discusses it because she hasn't....Publicly, which is her right. She said in her only TV interview that she didn't want to discuss her accuser, but she has consistently denied all charges, and was ultimately cleared of all of them.
They've made an unbelievable job of Nancy's character. She started off as one of those suburban housewife characters whom you assumed would lag, cry, get beaten up, lose a family member, attempt suicide and get let off with murder after 10 episodes on the grounds of temporary insanity. In the meantime, we pray for the end of their story. Not Nance. 600odd episodes on and they're rocking that suburban wife!
+rayman760 She actually was in the earlier episodes. And poisened alot of the women. A crazy person who believed she was a doctor using herbs and shit, killed people and yea.. XD
