    Many of you have suggested to review the NH150 Trekking Hiking Shoes by Quechua, Decathlon. This is why we wanted to test it out ourselves. We used it on the Gidara Bugyal trek, a moderate-difficult Himalayan trek, in snow, slush, and small stream-crossing.
    In this video, we share our experience with the shoe in terms of the grip, ankle support, flexibility of the sole, and waterproofing.

    One tip from my end. Whatever shoe you buy please don't take completely new shoes to the trek. Yuo need to break the shoes. Wear it for few weeks or few months before. Another important thing is lace up your shoe very tightly around your ankles. It you save your toe-nails while descending. :)

    I have this shoe and has used it in snow conditions in Kedarkantha trek in December-January( with microspikes) and Sandakphu trek in March and thereafter in few other treks as well and it is perfect in terms of grip, waterproofing, looks, etc and most importantly budget friendly and value for money for beginners..
    Update: Still using it for treks after almost 4.5 years.. The sole is still good, the waterproofing is not working anymore and the colour has faded, the skin has got bruises from boulders and rocks in the treks..

    I have an older version of this shoe and was informed by my trek lead on one of my IH treks that it is fine in terms of ankle support, flexibility and cushioning but one major drawback is the grip is not very good. Having done a few treks, I would agree with that. Not sure if they have fixed this in the current version, but my shoe has the exact same pattern.

    I'm from the hills and have used this shoe at least once a month for a year. The waterproofing on the shoe is great considering its price but sadly the shoe didn't last me for more than a year as the rubbery material used on the shoe started tearing up slowly per use. I used the shoe for some light trekking and passing along streams, but considering the distance I traveled on them, they didn't last as expected. Also the outer soles look quite grippy but they are the opposite to its purpose as they are more slippery on hiking trails as compared to most of my running shoes. Also if you are looking for a hiking shoe that will last for years, I would consider some other brand than Quechua as I have owned multiples of them in different variants.

    I have done the Sandakphu Phalut and Kedarkantha treks with this shoe in a span of 2.5 yrs. In the Sandakphu summer trek, this shoe felt like an extension of my feet and gave immense grip, and didn't let me slip even once. But in Kedarkantha, I slipped a few times on black ice trails. The microspikes damaged a part of the sole, and one shoe sole also came apart after the trek. So, from my experience, this shoe is totally great for long summer treks, and for snow portions, but you have to be careful about grip on icy portions.
    Waterproofing is top-notch, my feet weren't wet even after waddling and playing in the snow, and after the Kedarkantha summit trek of 10+ hours. Cushioning and ankle support are also great.

    The review being done here is the woman's version. The men's version of the NH150 doesn't have cross contact sole. Can anyone confirm?

    Informative video. Can you suggest some socks as well? I have extremely sweaty feet (so much so that I have stopped wearing chappals outside home completely as I slip wearing them even in winter). As I sweat a lot, smell is also an issue. Can you share tips regarding maintaining the shoes too like cleaning and storing ? TIA.

    Hi Swathi. Will this shoe be adequate for doing the Bali pass trek in early June?

      Definitely, I don't see why not. As long as it's not too worn out from overuse, it will work well at Bali Pass.

    Hi Swathi mam. My brother had NH150 but men's version which he uses for local treks. My foot fits well , but it doesn't have criss cross grooves like the one in video. Do you think they are safe for not slipping if I plan to use them in some snow or slippery rocks/mud

    • @Indiahikes
      @Indiahikes  2 года назад

      Hmmm we’re not sure, because we haven’t used this sole ourselves. But you can use them on a local trek and see how they perform.

    • @Indiahikes

      Hi Aditi :)
      Thank you!!
      So the NH150 is a better quality shoe overall, it’s waterproof and has a great sole.
      NH100 is alright for local treks but it won’t be suitable for Himalayan treks in the long run. The wear and tear is much higher.

      Hi Harshul,
      Hmm.. not sure about this. Womens’ shoes are usually narrower. But what you can do is try them on at a store to see if you find them comfortable, instead of buying them online.

    Please make video on gear that can be purchased from the local market and not from Decathlon. Basically, the idea behind it is to get more affordable gear in less price. Decathlon items are undoubtedly good but they're not pocket friendly. So any such idea of how to get basic items like shoes, trek pants, jackets, etc in affordable price would be appreciated.

    • @taoronaldo
      @taoronaldo 2 года назад

      Decathlon makes some of the most affordable clothing items. I don't think the price to quality ratio could get any better than what they've currently achieved. I bought their running pants for 1499 and they're as good, if not better than my Puma and Nike joggers that cost over 4k.
