Beautifully orchestrated and sung, this is pure brilliance. Think of how dramatic and beautiful the music video could be...disco will never end, it's just waiting for the right time to emerge once more...
Andy knew about this version as he recorded this version in 1979 when everyone was jumping on the disco bandwagon before it dissolved in 1980. This song mixes well with Take Me Home by Cher and Makin’ It by David Naughton. Dramatic orchestration and flawless strings and piano capture the sounds of the greatest year in music history, 1979.
Reality is that this is one of the better vocals for any disco song of the time. And the symphonic orchestration is very tight and well-composed, but there will be a prejudice against an older singer trying his/her song at the fad. Andy Williams had quite a talent for different musical genres, and this certainly proves it,
This is my FAVORITE Style of disco!! I wish there were more disco songs like this. (besides Lady you bring me up by commodores, ride like the wind by Christopher cross, and I was made for dancing by lief garrett)
This reminds me of the song Donna Summer does called Heaven Knows, is has the same sound. LOVE THIS, NOW THIS IS REAL DANCE MUSIC, not the shit my generation the 20's have has, rap and hip hop shit, that could take a rest as far as I am concerned, DISCO FOREVER
That's because Bob Esty did both arrangements. The single version of Heaven Knows is unusual in that it combines the vocal tracks from Donna Summer's album that was produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte with the instrumental tracks from Brooklyn Dreams' album that was produced and arranged by Esty.
Music was not produced the way "music" is "produced" today, that is STOLEN under the nose of the original artist and dubbed. Andy Williams - a lover of orchestrated beautiful melodies WANTED to produce his classic in full exquisitely symphony-orchestrated disco and called upon Bob Esty and the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra, Sid Sharp concertmaster to produce it. The same with Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Ethel Merman, Sergio Franchi, Trini Lopez, and on and on.
Produced and arranged by Bob Esty, Esty also co-wrote, arranged and produced Take Me Home for Cher and Main Event/Fight for Barbra Streisand. Esty did the orchestral arrangements for Donna Summer's Once Upon a Time album and co-produced and arranged Last Dance.
Once Upon a Time is Donna Summer's masterpiece album, though I don't think it was commercially successful. Casablanca was releasing her albums very quickly.
wuw Amazing ! i think the song was better than the movie Ryan O'neal was great looking and a decent actor who turned into a ham so big Boears Head would die for on the other hand Ali mcgraw was pretty except for the tears they could have used a mannequin in this or any other movie she was in, Thank God for Andy Williams
Are you simple? Who do you think performed this song, and - mirroring the posh arrangements and immense orchestration - with the most exuberant style of his whole career?
Andy Williams is fantastic, and this is just the best of him. I think this song never ages or goes out of style.

Andy Williams would be proud to hear that he has been "disco'ed". Just love this version.

How great would it have been if he would've teamed up with Donna Summer for this song? We've lost some wonderful talent in our music industry.
Another gem produced by Bob Esty....
