Literally, I wouldn't be shocked if the creator of the show told the writers to not write much Ricky dialogue and just give Josh free reign to just fuck around before his lines and/or adlibbing like most meetings in pre-pro was probably just him and his writing staff going over the storyline for the last season and just being like "don't write a ton for Josh this season, let em fuck around with the character and figure out how Ricky matures." basically.
Joshua Bassett's comedy chops went to another level in season 3 and it just continued in the final season. He can act, sing ,dance, do comedy. He's got it all.

@@bln182193wasn’t that season just showing that he isn’t perfect in any way & can be incredibly insecure while also not being able to handle change especially if it has to do with his parents, it was a vulnerable season for him which is good bcuz we got to see his growth a lot in the two seasons after

@@gracekim25 the cheating trope was just so out of character for both of them and i don't think it fit into the plot AT ALL
I’m soooo over the whole “it’s ok that we cheated cause we were realizing we’re gay” thing in tv and film as a cheap excuse for drama. Like I think you can realize you have feelings without actually cheating. It just feels sooo out of character especially given how much Big Red adored Ashlyn and would never want to hurt her. It just feels cheap. Also I think they kinda did do Ashlyn a bit weird from season 3 to season 4 cause the bi thing….ok? Like I get that they’re a cute couple but it feels kinda random to me for that to have popped up in season 3, feel like her and Big Red had a reconnect moment at the end of season 3, then suddenly she’s emotionally uninvested in her bf, he cheats, and she is just down to skip off to Maddox. No shade, just felt kind of sudden. My two cents 😅
