Don't forget to SMASH the like button if you enjoyed and gained value out of today's video! Excited to share with you my experience overcoming Impostor Syndrome as a Project Manager!
Thank you for this video. I agree with your point that we must accept that we don’t know everything. I started as a Project Management Intern at my current workplace right after graduating from college. After 3 months, they let my boss go, the project manager, and suddenly dropped all their responsibilities to me and hired me full time as a Project Coordinator. After 1 yr working with them, I can’t believe how I pulled through and led projects for this company. They helped me get SCRUM Master certified and now I’m currently studying for the CAPM. The imposter syndrome was real especially when leading meetings with SMEs but what I did learn from this journey was that SMEs tend to be tunnel visioned on what they are experts on and do not see the bigger picture of things. You are absolutely correct that you don’t have to be the smartest in the room. What matters is that you can initiate a conversation with everyone and bring all their talents together to achieve the goal.
I 100% agree with you, and thank you for sharing your experience as well! It sounds like you're doing an amazing job at your role, and tackling everything as the Project Coordinator. good luck studying for your CAPM Exam!!
I was about to quit my 5 year PM role, till I bumped to this video. Thanks PM Alvin!
I'm really glad I was able to help inspire you! We all experience the same hardships, and I hope I was able to motivate you! :)
it's exactly like I'm feeling now, like an impostor! After PMP exam, I'm actually starting my career like Project MAnager, less than one month in my new job, and I just don't know how to lead projects properly
I completely know how it feels! Congrats on landing your PM Job, I want you to know that you CAN do this!! I'll be releasing even more videos on my channel to help you in your PM Journey, so stay tuned!
I believe the lack of having a mentor during this transition is part of the issue. It is hard to find a mentor these days. Not everyone wants to share the knowledge and experience, and that's sad. Because the courses you take when studying for certifications don't show you the real PM world.
Great feedback Adalyd, thanks for sharing with our community! That's why I'm so passionate about sharing all my learnings and experiences through my videos so anyone can learn from my career
great topic, really helpful.
