Negreanu showed up sharp and determined at a final table that included Justin Bonomo, Isaac Haxton, David Peters, Masashi Oya, Jonathan Cohen, and Daniel Smiljkovic. The buy-in of this event was $10,000 and Negreanu collected $218,000 for his victory!

Being able to appreciate a sick fold is like being able to appreciate really good football defense, it can be just as impressive as a crazy bluff but you kind of have to know what you're looking at.

There is no doubt of Daniel’s ability. He is in his 4th decade of winning poker tournaments. He’s willing to learn and adapt. Never count him out of a tournament. He may have had his biggest loss in a year last year but sometimes the cards just don’t come. Does 2024 feel like a hot one for Daniel? There is no reason to think it won’t be

@@giovannibalistreri2973nope. 10 out of 100 you will hit the Queen. Just like everyone else. One of the 100 you might only hit 7 times and the next 100 you might hit 13. But everyone will hit the same 10 percent per 100 on average
@@stevenwalker9013ya I always think of poker this way. Not to mention with them heads up I’m pretty certain Daniel was putting him on a 10. So in his head he just has to hit an Ace, King, or Queen to win. Decent outs
@@stevenwalker9013incorrect. That's only true if you deal the cards infinity, and it will approximate that number as you deal more and more times towards infinity. But in 200 hands you might end up winning 0 (although with less probability than winning 5 or 10 of 30)

@@AT-qu2bz ever since Daniel started with the hairplugs and HRT/Test, he totally changed. Goes off the rails on his streams triggered at trolls.
Spends too much time online (the sure sign of a boomer/Gen X that spends too much time online is their ease to be triggered and insatiable need to 'convince' by getting into arguments.
It's really sad b/c back in the 2000s/early 2010s he was such a chill guy. He remains well spoken due to his personality but he's no longer a great poker ambassador.

That KQ vs A,10 was brutal. I was literally just thinking about the worst possible hand for A,10 and I was like "As long as the flop doesn't come down A,10 he should be okay." No freaking way A,10 comes down then that J to seal the deal. B.R.U.T.A.L.!

this is one of the reasons why people like daniel and why he's always been good for poker. he played well during the tournament, but he knows he made a bad play on the turn and got lucky. he has no ego about admitting that immediately, "i don't know what i was doing on the turn? here take my money."

There's nothing like sucking out to win the tournament, but his instincts felt good going all in there. He said he felt it. I been there where i felt it that something good would happen. Great win for him. :)

In the first hand, Negreanu smartly folded with a pair ace and Oya also with a pair ace donated another 450K to Bonomo. That showed he was much much smarter than Oya

Man I wish the title of this video wouldn't spoil it. I know it's for click bait and it gets the views (I probably wouldn't have watched without it) but watching these highlights were exciting enough. It ruins my anticipation knowing how it ends.

I'm not impressed by Negreanu in that A6 hand. It's a clear raise in position on the flop and Bonomo is out of the hand before the K comes on the turn. Then you have bluff equity on the turn with the flush draw and at very minimum showdown value on that river. Played fucking awful and that's why he lost $2.5 million last year.

Daniel, first of all, congrats on finally winning a decent size tourney after the miserable 2023. However, you just talked about your 2024 "resolutions" and one of them was that you try not to be an underdog when going all in. Yet in this tourney the very last hand and one a while before that, you must have known that you were behind.
I have a question regarding playing with beginners. If my hand is weak (e.g. 8,3 offsuit) and everyone has only paid the minimum preflop (e.g. big blind), should I just limp in as well to see the flop?

@@christiaanmostert8951 because limping costs money, and with a hand like that when are you flopping the best hand in a family pot? Like your 3 is obviously never good, and even if you hit an 8 you have 2 issues: first being your kicker is horrifying, and second being the board is barely ever 8 high, and if it is then the odds of someone hitting a straight or at least a draw are quite high. So that leaves us with the only time we have the best hand being when you flop trips or quads. If you flop quads everyone snap folds because there's a lot of 8s in your limp range (considering it's probably ATC), and if you flop trips and are betting for value, what's calling? Flopped boats, 8s with a better kicker (unless they literally have 82 lol) and maybe a random 2 pair for 1 street?
TLDR limping is bad because it encourages hands that can easily beat you to call, it's why the name of the game in poker is isolating preflop. Same thing applies to limping with 87s suited and etc, with so many people in the pot your flush is probably never good and even if it is they are just snap folding.
Imagine if they said at the end how much money Negraneu won in the tournament. But I guess the announcers don't care to inform the viewers?
