Just one point regarding FREEZE64... we're not just about obscure games; just take a look at the first 10 issues: they're either top-rated games or brand new :-P But we're definitely about getting into the nitty-gritty of how games were made and speaking to the people who made them - which is the essence of FREEZE64.

That was a very informative and impartial review; thanks for sharing your thoughts. I subscribed to this new version of Zzap 64 because although I grew up with the Commodore 64 (my first computer ever); sadly, I never got to read the original Zzap 64 magazine living in the United States. In fact, I'd never even heard of Zzap 64 until I subscribed to the Retro Recipes RUclips channel last year; which is definitely worth checking out, if you haven't already, that is. Keep up the great work, and take care. 🙂

I'm subbed to both Crash and Zzap. Excellent publications wrote with love and passion for both machines.

On a side note if you head to Retrofusion books they have free PDF's of some books and even the Zzap annual from 2018 to download. For some reason I can't link it directly as it deletes my post 🤷
I loved the adventure section .. still my fav . Check out FREEZE64 as well if you haven't it's well worth it 😀👍
I'm with you on preferring to read something tangible. I don't find reading web sites relaxing in any way. Plus you have to contend with the fact that most sites are 70% ads and other distracting fluff surrounding the content itself, further detracting from the experience.

Great video! (As always). I would really love to see interviews with the programmers from the beginning of the Zzap64! era and their thoughts on the scene back then and hopefully some inside secrets! Jeff Minter, Andrew Braybrook, Tony Crowther to name a few.
I've tried Jeff Minter for a complete retrospective of Matrix, no reply.
Probably worth you reading FREEZE64 as we’ve interviewed the likes of Andrew Braybrook, Paul Clansey, David Darling, Mark Greenshields, Duncan Kershaw, Karl Hornell, Jon Hare, Shaun Southern, Gregg Barnett... and lots, lots more 😊
