- I purchased this bathtub and could not find any real video reviews anywhere so I wanted to share my thoughts on this popular whirpool / air bubble tub that you can buy on Amazon. (Paid Links)
I purchased this tub here amzn.to/2OdMhqb
Here is the faucet I used amzn.to/3eSpk78

The tub has held up but there is one flaw that I found. The small air tubes that run from the air switches to each motor like to come off. This is a big deal because if they come off of the switch you have to remove the tub and turn it over to reach them to fix the issue. I would replace these lines with longer ones and secure them on each end with a clamp before installing the tub. Both of mine failed within 6 months. I actually deleted the air switches and added remote control electrical switches to each motor instead.
Thanks. I am leery of this and may just purchase a drop in instead!
A name brand drop in would probably be more reliable.
Hey there , thx for the review , great job , now can u answer me a question, the 2 gfi plug ins that u say it needs ... can it be hardwired or is it a plug in ... I’m thinking about putting it inside a long shower would you recommend it ?
@@jnacontractorsllc7437 It is plug in and both can actually plugged in to the same 20amp circuit. It could be used with a shower if you had a curtain all the way around it.
Hi - I have a similar Woodbridge tub which also has a pressure switch and mine has failed like yours did. Unfortunately we did what you did which is changed out the flexible drain to a solid drain and glued it down. So it’s not so easy for us to tip it on its side to reconnect the pressure switch. How did you manage to do it? Also can you describe exactly where the air lines fell off the pressure switch - was it right under the switch or further under the bathtub ?
Thank you! I am having this installed in my newly remodeled master bathroom by my contractor (who is also a licensed plumber). He's been doing bathrooms for over 30 years, but there were things not included in the installation "manual" included with the tub that had all of us scratching our heads. I guess a lot is lost in translation.... This is so incredibly helpful.
I wanted to purchase this tub, but you pointed out a few things that I don’t want to deal with. Thanks for the video.
Jack, thanks for the useful review. Good to know it has a standard 1-1/2" tailpiece thread. You've convinced me that it's not worth the added trouble and expense to get a jetted model.
same here i dont think im going with the jetted model for the same reason, and my size
I've purchased a similar product (different model # with air jet only). When you glued the tub to the floor, how did you manage air flow for the motor? We'd like to secure it, but are concerned about burning out the motor.
What pop up replacement did you get that was metal or brass? I just installed my tub but had a leak. I think I need to replace pop up with brass one and I think it needs an overflow if I remember right. I have ITD35 drain setup where you can slide it in.
I'm interested in placing it in the corner as well. Can you tell me how many inches the edge of the tub is from the corner and from the corner to the center of the outer tub wall? I currently have a corner tub and I'm trying to figure out if this would fit. Thanks in advanced.
Anybody have a suggestion on how to modify the pumps to reduce the pressure? The air jets are way too strong! I'm not going to mop up the bathroom every time I take a bath.
Thanks for a very helpful video. Can you tell me what faucet you used?
I am looking at the BJ400 tub which is almost the same thing as you have from what I see. I think I figured out how to set it up so it does not move. Attach metal/plastic cups right where the legs sit. This way you set the tub into the cups and run a screw threw the bottom of cup into the floor. (cylinder shape with one end closed off) This will keep the tub from sliding around if you bump into it but can also easily lift it out of the cups that 2in or so. Great video by the way. I wish they would solve that light issue and make it static to one color. Not a fan of the disco theme you are trying to relax. ( I wrote cups for the concept so its easy to visualize but there are other products out there that would work best) Thank you for your video.
Can you trade in a non jetted stand alone tub into a jetted. Stand alone tub?
Thank you! Almost didn’t purchase because of the lights so glad to hear you can disconnect them!
We have this tub and I love it. I have the smaller version of this tub. We are on the first floor with a concrete slab. Any suggestions on how to do the electrical?
only way to do it would be to create a trench in the concrete or to keey the tub lifted on its feet and hide the electrical behind the tub
That’s a pretty nice bathroom set up.
Thank you for this!!!!
Hi I am building and we are preparing the space in the master bathroom for this. Single level home, should we install the gfi outlets behind the tub or underneath on the floor?
If you have a basement below, it's easier to do it below
Great presentation thanks.
Question we are installing one and I am not clear about the electrical connection. Do the electric plugs are under the tub? I know it needs two. ? Did you do a dedicated line?
Dedicated 20amp circuit. I am able to run both the jets and air on 1 20amp circuit though. Yes, in my case the outlet is in the basement on the ceiling and the plugs just plug right in.
Thanks for this information. We were just looking into this tub. It is highly recommended and seemed too well recommended (if you know what I mean). Really great information well explained.
Thank you for your video! I am seriously considering this tub, but have been looking everywhere for a tub like this. The price is way cheaper than another other tubs I've seen in stores. I would love to hear if it has held up since you made this video.
The tub has held up but there is one flaw that I found. The small air tubes that run from the air switches to each motor like to come off. Question, where did you install the electrical outlets, underneath or behind the tub against the wall?
In the basement under the tub
Jack, thanks for the video. I'm considering purchasing and installing this tub myself and your video is very helpful. What size and number of holes did you drill for the plumbing and electrical connections?
Just one 4 inch hole for the drain and cords. Then I drilled 1 1.75" inch hole for the 2 water lines I believe.
Are the wall plugs like any ordinary plug size? Asking because I'm planning on installing a 3 gag box but am worried the plugs might not fit if they're oversized.
Normal size
Omg this was so good. FYI the installation instructions say not to silicone around because the motor needs ventilation, I'm curious did you remedy this? Or have you had any issues?
It's open to my basement on the bottom so it's not an issue for me.
Thanks for the review! I’m building a house and hate the look of built in/drop in tubs and was disappointed that it is hard to find a whirlpool tub in a freestanding model. I’ve been looking at this one for a couple months now and like the features and price tag but was hesitant until seeing this review. I think I’ll pull the trigger! Are you still happy with it?
It still works fine. A common problem is the air switch lines pop off after some use. I bypassed them, but just make sure the tiny air lines that run from the switches to the pump are tight
Someone asked below about the water staying warm, which I have read can be an issue with these style of tubs. I see the tub has a heater blower, did you find that it is sufficient enough to keep the water warm for an extended period of time (30+ mins)?
I have not had any problem with the water staying warm. You can always just add a little more hot water to keep it nice and warm. It does not have any kind of heater.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone thank you
Hi, do you know what might be the problem if after installing it jet's nor air switch is not working? My installer just tried to show me how my tub works and it didn't?! I am so worried since tub is partially tiled into the floor. Please help if you have any idea what might be wrong.
Thanks in advance.
The air line probably came off of the vacuum switch during installation or shipping. Going to have to remove the tub to fix it right. Or alternatively you can break the vacuum switch and reach it from the top.
Love all features! Can you stretch out or most eating their knee caps. I’m 5’6 and the hubs is 5’11.
I'm 5'11 and can fit easily. You would have no problem stretching out.
Great video sir, it definitely helped make up our mind! I have a couple questions for you, if you don't mind. We have this tube in route. I am curious about the wiring. The online directions stated there are two three prong plugs, one for the blower and one for the pump. I contacted Woodbridge directly and they advised I can either use 15a or 20a breakers separated dedicated lines. The directions tell me to utilize GFIs as well along with the breakers. Woodbridge told me that the two three prong plugs are 48" in length. I am not sure where to mount the GFI or outlets for each of these lines.
Is it possible to extend the three prong plugs that come with this tub?
I would like to put in an access panel for the outlets in the wall, but need to either extend the length of the pre-made prongs or put the outlet in the floor (I'd rather not), and both cords are at each end of the tub. The tub is on the second floor with a finished ceiling below. Any of your thoughts and ideas could be so useful? Thank you
Keith
Just use short black extension cords. They come in 8 or 10 foot sizes.
I don't know if that's code in Ohio. Was there a way to extend the cords from the blower and pump?
Not that I know of.
Jack, I am Architect and I just spec this Woodbridge Whirlpool tub. Your shown use of the tub was very well demonstrated, but you indicated nothing regarding the Two electrical GFCI receptacles. You said you had a basement below the room where the tub is installed. Did you install the electrical GFCI's below the floor joist in the space below?
That is exactly what I did. The GFCIs are 2 20amp GFCI breakers with 2 seperate outlets on the basement rafters below. There was just barely enough wire to plug them in
I'd add that the cord for the air pump is way shorter than the water pump cord, so if you're building an electrical box plan on placing it offset closer to the side of the tub the air pump will be. I built my outlet box close to center and almost didn't have enough cord to plug the air pump in. (Maybe a non-issue for me since the air jets are too powerful, I'll probably never use them. I was hoping someone might suggest a modification to the pumps to reduce the pressure output.)
Thanks for the video, I'm considering one but the location where it is going is in the basement, how do I do the plumbing then?
Bust out concrete floor. Sucks in the basement.
If you don't mind the drain going out the side of the bottom of the tub then you could put a 90 on the drain along with a trap to hold air and then have the water exit through the side of the tub into a wall drain area at floor level
Maybe a dumb question, but I was wondering does it need an independent faucet or can it fill itself?
Independent
Can you show the full Installation pipes & electrical
Hi thanks for your video. I purchased one of these tube and only one of my air jets work any solution? Thanks!
If only 1 air jet works it's most likely a disconnected air line under the tub. Probably will have to flip it over and look for disconnected lines
@JackofAllMasterofNone thank you. I got to work. Your awesome 👌
Aren't you supposed to mount the tub up a few mm's for the vent on the bottom to work?
It's open to the basement below the tub in my Install
Mine stinks when I turn the jets after a couple of days of last use. Have you run into this issue?
I have not. I always runs the jets and air pump after the tub is empty for about 10 seconds to clear all the water out before it sits for any amount of time.
Probably a stupid question, but what is the knob for? Between the two jet buttons.
Turn up the air to water ratio. Intensity of the jets
Honestly after a heavy day at work i prefer a silent bath i dont like big noise motor water noise and noise i order a regular 67" free estanding now I happy i can hear opera my music peacefully 😴
How do u hook up the electrical to turn on the jets?
It's 2 plug in cords. May have to hire an electrician.
apparently the manufacturer also says one GFCI outlet with a single dedicated circuit works fine as well, at least thats what the amazon answers from the woodbridge manufacturer account said in the comments.
Yes it does work fine.
What is the model of the faucet you used

WARNING - If you purchase this whirlpool tub and after installation you found that the pumps will not turn off and/or off and the tub appears to be broken. During shipping of this particular model the vibration of this unit during shipping has been causing the "Pump/Vacuum Line" to come loose and making the tub not properly function once installed. Turn the tub sideways and you will see either one and or two pieces of clear tubing dingling (not properly connected). You can resolved this problem by reconnecting the tubing adjacent to the pump switch. This will resolve the problem, solution recommended by manufacturer when demanded to replace whirlpool tub by Amazon.
Good comment. Thanks. I definitely tried mine before gluing it down to the floor.
This is an EXCELLENT comment. This was EXACTLY the problem with my unit. The buttons were not qorking. I flipped the tub on its side and sure enough, BOTH clear tubes were disconnected from both the pump switch and the air switch. Thanks for the heads up!
Where did you get your tub from
amzn.to/2OdMhqb
It sounds like the legs are adjustable?
Yes
Hi, how do you install power?
Call an electrician to wire a GFCI outlet dedicated to this tub. It plugs in.
I still can’t figure out how to use the shower attachment
Turn the knob next to the shower connection. It rotates around.
Thank you, I will get something else.
If you can afford to buy a better brand, I would. For those on a budget, this can work well if the air switches are addressed before installing
It would have been useful to add the sound of the motor and/or the water jets.
the direction said not to caulk the perimeter to allow the pumps cool air...
I have a large opening under the tub to the basement.
Read directions if attempting to install yourself. The install manual literally says NOT to seal it with caulk to allow ventilation for the motors. To stop it from moving, you can caulk the bottom of the feet prior to lowering it into place.
I have a large opening into the basement under my tub which allows ventilation. If you don't caulk down the tub, it will move and will break the plumbing. The tub is way too light to just sit there or glue the tiny feet down.
Where did you find the installation instructions? Mine was just shipped without a manual or instructions
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Should probably mention that in your video. I don't have an opening under mine. I caulked the feet down to prevent movement
How much you pay for this spa ma friend?
The Amazon link is in the description.
Well, the installation instructions specifically say to leave an air gap around the tub and not to put silicone around it, for pump cooling, so I'm wondering how to best keep it from moving without sealing it up like this reviewer.
You have to glue it down, otherwise it will move. It's too light. If it moves you will break the drain plumbing.
You can use silicone however you can do it in several areas and leave the rest open and that should be adequate
where is your power outlet
Under the floor on the basement ceiling
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Thank you!
It sucks that you can’t change the color
Sounds really loud. Is it?
Not really louder than any other Whirlpool bath
WHAT DID YOU SAY?!
you lit
DO NOT SILICONE around the base , the 5-10mm gap is NECESSARY for Air Bath and Whirlpool Tub !!! This is written in the manual specification ! ;-)
Unless the floor is open underneath like my installation, since it's over the basement.
That light is scary
Oh come on dump some bubble bath in already
Looks cheap and probably won't last longer than one year warranty. Update us.
Well it still works great. It's been years! Only problem has been the little air hoses on the air switches slowly worked there way off. I recommend extending the air lines (fish tank type air hose) before installation to avoid the issue.
One thing I feel disappointed...It is MIC
Mic?
