Sentencing Day (Every Defendant Must Watch This ASAP)

- On Monday, April 19, 2021, Michael Santos and I drove to the Federal Courthouse in San Diego to support a client who was getting sentenced.
Following the sentencing hearing, I filmed a video to memorialize the experience.

Advice regarding allocution--in other words, when should you speak?

Justin, congratulations on securing a favorable result for your client! This video is yet another crucially critical one in your series. Would that I had not delayed obtaining the services of White Collar Advice until ONE WEEK before my sentencing hearing. I do not recommend being as foolhardy as me. At least this client had a lawyer interested in the facts and not sanguine about his defense. Thankfully, you and Brad stepped into the breach at the last minute and helped me snatch home confinement from the jaws of prison custody. Good on ya.

Don’t give up trying. Read the message below from Tom Finley. He always wished he started sooner, but we were still able to keep him out of prison. In time, he will come around, I assure you.

Prosecutors ain’t no joke they wanna drag you and give you more time they want to give my husband 10 year mandatory sentence due to a federal drug charge and his lawyer is trying to agree on a better plea hoping for the best !!
How often is a sentence given in the same hearing as a guilty plea for federal misdemeanors?
