With the blue coin friend available from mid-game, you could have tightened your resource loop to get 6 points every 3 turns - spend 3 resources for 4 points and 1+1 coins; spend those 2 coins for 2 points and 2 resources; retrieve workers (the extra resource comes from using the Golem for one of the locations). With 2 golems, you could have taken it all the way to 12 points every 4 turns - use the golems first time round the loop, then workers the second time.
I don't know if 3 points per turn (+2 per income) is that great (particularly taking a little longer to set up in the first place) and there is no slack in the loop to allow other points to be picked up elsewhere, but it would be reliable so long as no-one blocked a golem placement.
For your setup, where most of your points came from your own charter, the points friend would also have worked well.
In general, your own colour friends work best since they give you benefits for using the matching minion too - if you have your point friend, placing the cat on a non-scoring action gets you 2 points (though the friend only triggers once per action - a 4-point action can earn 6 points using friend and minion, but not 7). Similarly a Butler goes from 1 coin to 2 coins.
