    I followed along every step twice and wrote them down the second time. I find that helps me to learn and also enables me to try and apply these techniques to my photos. What I think would be great is a series on each Luminar Neo tool: when to use, how to use, etc. Knowing the why would enable me to mix and match the tools I need for a particular vision of the photo. Hope that made sense.

Learned a lot about Neo as well, which I have but have been a Ps user for so long that laziness has ruled. You showed me good reason to experiment so thank you. Very much liked your image's conclusion.

    As i have said before - you are adding value to Neo every time you publish a video - but i have abandoned it for good for many reasons!
    But your thought process adds value to almost any image editor out there :) and all the stuff you just showed, i am taking to my edits in ON1. It can do all you have shown and more.
    At first i thoght the image was dull (apart from that you took it of a loved one offcourse) but you completely succeded in making it interesting.
    I would love to se and hear your decision process when you first look on an image and decide how and why you will take the image in a certain direction in your demos.
    My favorite edit is still the one you did of a natural "bridge" iver a creek in the jungle.

      I just got on1 and I am struggling a bit. The portrait and body is better on Neo. I’d like to use neo as a complimentary plug in. I see a few advantages to on1 but I am not proficient. Why did you change m?

    • @GunniGrahn
      @GunniGrahn Год назад

      @@nutin321 i agree with you on the portrait section - but that section alone is not enough for me to go all Neo. I need a stable editor with enough well implemented functions and features to rely on it for my workflow.
      Neo is fun, and i have followed and used Luminar products since they first came out many years ago o
      n macs
      Then, they were one trick ponies, and did well. Then they mad us pay for new programs, but when they started to release the software when it still felt like early beta, the unstability made me (and many others) to hesitate.
      It started with Luminar 3 - very unstable and lack of basic features, and then they abandoned it for a brand new program 4, and again, it felt unfinished and was not stable.
      At this point, i didnt want to re-edit all my photos again and theres was no way of mygrating really.
      Then they abandoned the Luminar 3/4 line and went Luminar Ai?!?! Very interesting, but it took more than a year and a half to get it stable, and for it to have basic editing features. Today its fine, but again they abandoned their creation because of bad programming decisions it seems.
      Lo and behold, they "tricked" me again into going along with Luminar Neo, but once again, it started out unstable and with no functioning backup capability. There was no dialog with them at that point.
      There was also no migration tool - so it was re-editing again.
      Basic functionality was not in there. No undo, no cloning, and it is still a sluggish experience - and still lacking so many features. Like combining layers and so on.
      They even had the audacity to charge a bunch extra to get what they promised from the start.
      AI noise reduction is extra?!?! I got the HDR merge for free at first- since they abandoned Aurora which i had bought earlier - but then had to buy again if i wanted the other extension.
      Extensions wasnt even mentioned until long after everybody bought into the "Buy Neo -own it for life", and then at a price unreassonable higher than Neo itself. Neo is still a half baked excuse of an editor - where functionality that other programs deliver out of the box, cost a boatload extra.
      ON1 has stacking, HDR merge, Panorame, upscale, easy background removal, AI selection, Supersharp AI, Noise AI, mergeable non destructive layers, movable vignettes, luminosity masks, AI brushes, smart albums, AI keywords, - and the list goes on - right out of the box - for an all life purchase of around 120 dollars or so
      Neo is fun though, and for now, their protrait section is better - but on everything else, they lacking and their modus operandum obviously is to release beta software with no migration possible, try to patch the error and missing functionaality over a year and a half, add basic stuff to buy extra instead, no customer communication of any quality, and then come up with something new instead.
      Neo and Luminar will never reach maturity, and they are already so far behind they can never lead - and they dont posses the understanding of what photographers need above all - right from the start; a full set of fully working editing features, Stability, migration tool, working backup functions, reliable customer support, and the possibility to have a work environment they can rely on.
      I have now spend 400 dollars+ on Neo and add ons (my bad) - and i have spend far to many hours reediting thousands of photos - and still its only really good at portraits, and its still not a proper editing tool for photographers with pro demands.
      And i dont want subscriptions as a rule.
      Hope that answers your question :)

    My favorite part of this is using the star field from a night photo as "snow" in your edit. Another great artistic tip that can apply to any photo editing software, really. Have you ever thought of doing other videos that aren't specifically devoted to Neo? I'd love to see a series of videos on the tools you use for your work. What camera bodies and lenses you work with most and why you like them, which ones work better in different conditions, how do you pick your locations, what your computer setup looks like from a tech spec perspective, etc. Maybe even film the videos of you going out to shoot something, so we can get a feel for your thought process during the shoot, and then you can do a follow-up video where you edit the photo in Neo.

      @matthewisaacs4537 Год назад

      If you don't already have Luminar Neo, watch several of Anthony's videos to get a feel for it before buying. I originally bought Photoshop Elements 2021 a few years ago, mostly because I just dabble in photo editing and didn't need a full subscription to professional tools. Elements seemed to offer most of what I wanted. However, after using it for awhile, I still found it a bit difficult to get the results I wanted easily. So I looked around for other products. I found several reviews for Luminar AI and they were all glowing, so I picked that software up. Luckily, I bought it just a few months before Luminar Neo was released, so Skylum gave me a free upgrade to Neo. I liked the software, but still didn't really understand the power of it. It wasn't until I found these videos from Anthony that I really understood how great Neo is and how easy it is to do the touch-ups and enhancements that I wanted to do. I mean, look at the dramatic changes he was able to get in just a few minutes with this software!
      I'd suggest that you just watch Anthony's videos to get a feel for the software and what can be achieved with it. If you like what you see, I'd recommend it as well. Neo really is great software and you don't have to be a pro to get good results. What you get for the price you pay (especially with discount codes like the one Anthony provides in his video descriptions) is really phenomenal.
