Its not like they completely lost it its still kinda there, you have to listen really closely to realize their talking changed, so it's logical for them to be kinda bugged when they're asked for their accents since they don't speak american

Something common in music in Spanish, is that as there a lot of different accents, the artists try to sing with a "neutral" accent to make their music more international.

This is how it is with southern artists as well. Lead singer of the band Paramore, Hailey Williams talked about purposely hiding her country accent in an interview with Ryan Seacrest. Miley Cyrus’ accent is also gone. Rihanna tries to hide her Barbados/Caribbean accent as well. I think like 5sos said, they’re just trying to make it easier for us Americans to understand them when they speak and there’s nothing wrong with that. I do however don’t judge them just because of what their real accent sounds like. When you’re as talented as them and all the other artists that I named in this comment, it doesn’t matter what accent they use in their interviews. I could careless❤️ keep up the good work, boys.
RoyalOutcast I didn't even know hayley had a country accent :< . The american accent is kind of a void? Its hard trying to speak how you used to speak when you've been using the american accent, It just sounds weird for some reason.

If I didn’t know this was a 5SOS interview and I heard Ashton’s voice, I wouldn’t be able to tell you that it was him speaking. He had the thickest accent and now he sounds straight American. Crazy!

THANK YOU! Australian-American here. Born and raised in Fitzroy until I was 16 then moved to America. Lost my accent strictly because Americans couldn't understand/ made fun of me so I adapted to the American accent. Honestly, wish I didn't change. There's a lot of more Aussies in American media than there used to be.

I was really into 5sos in middle school but once they stopped being active for a while , I fell off and my music taste is super different now 😭 but i decided to click on this bc I haven’t heard them speak in years , and wow I’m shook. Especially Ashton , his accent is almost completely gone but you can still hear their accents in some words .
Even Ashton who everyone is saying has a super American accent actually still has a confused accent you can hear he pronounces a few words differently than most Americans would.
This happens in NYC often.

This is so strange to me. I’ve never not been able to understand them ever. So hearing how everyone does or has I’m like how sjnsbdnd
I totally understand them. Basically I grew up with British English as my second language and I learned it from the natives so I ended up with a Yorkshire accent myself. On RUclips I tend to watch more of the American English side of it so I started to pronounce the words like in the USA without noticing that

You know, as someone who has learned English as a second language, the accent doesn't really matter to me, I don't understand American English better than British English or Australian English. I personally like hearing different accents, it's interesting!
This is so funny to me bc when i came to Australia (FNQ) no one could understand my accent so I switched it up and started speaking "australian" or whatever.

Despite Australian and British accents being kinda similair, British accents are completely different from American accents, yet it's much easier to transition from Australian to American than British to American 🤔
