Good video. I'd like to you discuss cover & concealment, including utilizing hard cover vs soft cover, and the enormous benefits (and limitations) of using mortar and 320 smoke in game as well, with an emphasis on cooperating with friends in squads.
I'd like to see a video covering when to prioritize actions such as reloading and sprinting. I find myself getting killed by my bad times to reload my primary, and sprinting round a corner into 3 guys. Also, picking your fights would be a good pro tip.
The point of the video is too help those who expose themselves unnecessarily to cut their corner exposure. If you do well run'N gunning, then good for you....but when you get into a Lobby full of Beast's, that run'N gun sh*t ain't gonna work for crap. If you are a good player while disregarding angles, corner-cuts, etc...then you'd be an awesome player utilizing these fundamentals....
Got to start with the basics. Based on what I see people do all the time this a good place to start. You say this stuff is obvious but i bet if we were to look at your gameplay we could see many places to improve your angles. Even i still get killed a lot and realize i could have prevented it if i had just limited an angle i didn't need to expose myself to.
I’d be seriously interested on his take today about the verdanske map, I think it’s poorly designed because it’s not designed at all it’s just every good COD map slapped together with little thought but we going to the new BF so who cares about shitty warzone anyways lmao
I think most people know this in theory but the hard part is to actually be able to apply it when in a game.. I have to admit sometimes during big gunfights and crazy /attack/defense moments on rush I tend to forget about this and my covers can get really sloppy. I believe no one can say they are in the best possible angle 100% of the time, therefore no one should tell Level this video is useless. It is in fact a good introduction to how angles work and how to use them. Keep up the good work.
No matter your level of fps experience you can always pick up new things. It's also useful to see someone elses train of thought on different situations. So I think great video Lvl.
Now I realize why I always get killed on Scrapmetal constantly! Thank you so much for videos like this. I've been watching you for about a month now and my game has really improved because of your tips. I really enjoyed the cornering video because I was always running out and completely exposing myself. Keep up the good work on these videos. I only improve by watching them!
Very important to be aware of while moving through a map. Only thing I'd add is applying what you demonstrated as peaking back and little ways away from a corner or a window to keep the barrel of your gun from giving away your position by sticking out of the window/corner. I get lots of kills on guys who know how to "pie" a corner because they hug it too closely letting their gun barrel stick out thus letting me know that they will be coming around it. Good job & nice video!
Great video! You go into a good amount of detail, and you point out things that I hadn't thought of. It also helps you understand how maps are made, what makes a map good/bad and good areas.
I already did this alot of the time naturally. it's a very good tip and when used effectively you can literally control all the gun fights you're in. some times it's necessary to expose yourself, maybe for a destraction or even just to move out a little to get a kill. good video!
Although i see and agree with your reasoning I personally love scrap metal because of how intricate it is. my thinking on it is that it suggests a new tactic to play against. It requires more team/squad work in calling out spots. telling your squad mates a section is clear so they watch your back while you watch theirs. Plus the skill of how well you can take down targets through a mess of environment. widening you eye i guess you could say
This is a useful video, even though I'm a vet of fps games, battlefield has always seemed to have had its own set of rules and I've just started back to playing bf3. I would love to see more "back to basics" series maybe even some videos about the best way to start out with beginners loadouts. Love the vids level, good stuff!
I agree LvL was talking more about what he dose by him self, and they are great tips that will probably help me a lot. But I think squad play is the most important thing in cq. It would be cool if he showed us how other squad mates can help limit those angles of exposure in maps like that or even larger maps. I do feel that when I get a squad that sticks together on cq maps we do better then even a conquest or rush round with the same team work.
im a cod player but i really like watching bf3 videos, and tips like this are very usefull for all shooters really. ive began to use tips like these, and rivalxfactors tips all the time. they work :)
It doesn't have to be head-glitch spots, just spots in areas to hold down that have a lot of traffic or covering objectives. Ex: Having someone on the back stairs of Metro to make sure US doesn't flank.
in an ideal situation, your field of view is equal to or bigger than your angle of exposure. a big field of view is always good, as long as you can control all the threats
scrapmetal doesn't have good cover as Levelcap says, but I think we need some of these maps because they are realistic, and also offer variety from "good" maps. These FPS games are actually really good training platforms for actual soldiers, or at least help with training, so it's good that there's variety. Because how often would a swat member enter a building where all of the cover is precisely tactically set up, etc.
Level, this series is great, but I would love it if you would tie in some good "shooting locations", e.g., areas that are good to hold down on certain game types where you have limited angles of exposure.
I agree. I'm usually pretty good about peeking corners and limiting my exposure, but when the bullets start flying, I start to panic a bit. I love to get the jump on people, I hate an all out firefight.
Levelcap people need to be aware where enemies spawns. If most of your teammates are in one area clearing guys you need to be aware where the posibilities enemy can pop up and limiting your area to 1 or maybe 2 angles. This can take some getting used to but it's worth it. I hope you agree :)
that death trap slope is a good place to use dem smokes to cover squads/teams/ your advance. i know the video was focused only on the exposure without advanced tactics.. just leavin it out there tho
You know I don't think xfactor minds, he's got plenty of people thanking him on his own channel. More people teaching this stuff to more people is only a good thing. What counts is that people get better and play better games, that way everyone wins. Lvlcap has a different way of talking and putting things than xfactor. Hearing the same thing a second time in a different way is often a great way to understand it better.
I really like this tips. I apply this in all shooter games and it really helps me. I really appreciate this tips lvlcap, well done. Keep up the good work! :) ^_^
levelcap, don't listen to the haters. they think that they are 'pro' but the completly ignore the players who can use your help, players like me. Thank you for making this video!
U are a top bloke LC! This is great how you are helping people out here. Really useful & usually I try to think about angles etc, but as I play Noshair C mainly - trying to get faster & more accurate under extreme stress - I get wasted from in front, behind, left right above etcetc but I LOVE that challenge in Noshair. Many thanks for this really useful info - as always!
Nice. I think you should do a similar video on flag capture points, especially the one near the US spawn point on Caspian.. People seem to just stand in the open but the cap zone includes so much cover.
About "bad map design" and being able to limit your angles: don't forget that BF3 is also a team game, open areas can be covered from more than one spot, where you cannot limit your angles yourself you might be able to rely on your teammates to cover those areas.
Hey LevelCap , your tutorials and tips are really great and it has been very useful to me . But I have a request for tips on how to break out of a nade fest in Metro Conquest servers . I'm sure most players would have encountered a nade fest while playing Metro and I swear to god , there are so many nades to the point that I can't even shoot right because of the ground shaking . What is your view on this ?
Hey mr. funny, most people don't have this though process while playing, maybe even you if you really pay attention to yourself. Also, aiming down sights and entering vehicles have some aspects that one may be not aware of: When to aim down sights or not. About vehicles is how to get out of them on the desired side, also if you hold the E key before entering the vehicle as you pass close to it you'll enter right away, this keeps you from worrying about the timing of the press. See my point now?
do you know when your going to make any new pro tips video i would love to see a pro tip video on how to use cover thanks i really like all of your video keep it up
I know LvL cap was complaining about map design i still like it because it enables 2 average players working together to play better than a player like LvL cap who usually would treble their K/D and score/minute. And personaly i think that's what dice is aiming to do with maps like scrapmetal.
Mind if I add my 2 cents? There's a difference between knowing something and being able to utilize it. Just because an amateur -knows- it's important to limit his angles doesn't mean he's good at it. And rank doesn't necessarily say much about the skills of a player, more about his dedication. I mean you can grind till colonel 100 and still suck at shooting d:
The red dot's are simply an option for close quarters engagements. (Though your point i understand is that they charge straight in like its an assault rifle, i get that, just letting you know. :P) those guys arn't the problem though, its the Semi-automatic Spray sniper rifles, (SKS, EMR, M417) that are awful. I've seen some of their trigger fingers, it might as well be an assault rifle.
hey LvLcap, i have noticed tearing on screen when you turn very fast. I think you should turn on V-sync (me personally, I would get a 600 series because you can get adaptive v-sync which I use ALL the time)
You should talk about range and what short, medium and long range is... I'm always confused with that as I am only a casual gamer and don't read strategy guides or whatever. Perhaps something to estimate range to objects to better gauge how far enemies are before trying to kill them with a SMG ;)
Uhm, most snipers are far away, if they running into your face, you've either forced them into a close quarters situation, or its a close quarters map. going prone when hit by a long range sniper when theres no cover will get you killed, but if you start making a bunch of random jerky movements, it's much harder to hit you.
basically, the greater your angle of exposure the higher your chances of being shot be mindful of from where you could be shot and if you should be exposed to certain spots and your chances of survival increase
To me, all this comes naturally. I tend to avoid being exposed in large open areas, and find a cover where there are the least possible angles of exposure.
how about doing a thoght process on say Oman where you are US, coming into town & emphasize on areas of less resistance, utilizing weak points of defences, avoiding snipers, both on foot & in vehicle
lvl i see what your saying but a lot of time i try to be a thorn in the enemys side by rushing ahead, and distracting them possibly get around there position and kill them or at least take some of there attention off my team.
nice video. Although I already know the angles theory, I now understand why my KD is always below my own average in scrapmetal and I rage the most in this map.
Depends on how good your monitor is. One 670 gives me 55-80 fps on Ultra. If you have a 100+ Hz monitor Probably 2 670s or 680s will give you 100+ fps on Ultra. 1 690 would do pretty much the same as 2 680s but cost about $200-500 more.
Thats because he uses a mechanical keyboard. I have one and even when I adjust the noise gates you still here it on recordings because they are loud. But they are the best keyboards to use for gaming
I was once at spetsnaz training and the trainer was shouting at them "HUG THE ***** WALLS!", "DON'T STAND IN THE ***** MIDDLE OF THE **** FIELD, *****" and so on. And that's about the same what LvLcap tried to bring you, but without cursing.
@TheKyshu I'm like one of the bad players in bf, but I know where I will be shot from, I just don't have the reaction and accuracy to fire back. That's the problem with many players, they get wound up about these minor things and forget to practice agility and good eye to shoot more accurately:)
Every single game I play, ( I play on Xbox), I always see someone just sprinting past corners and running out into the middle of everything. How can you do that? It's basically death insurance. I always check my corners and try to survive as best I can, while playing the objective, considering rush is my favorite game type.
Hi Levelcap, i have always wondered this, how do keep a income well you do a lot of videos for you-tube, like how do you find the time to be good at video games and still have some sort of life.
Re: Scrap Metal Map Is that bad level design? Or does it just promote team play? If you are moving into the killing floor and you've got a guy up on the balcony behind, you know that angle is "safe"
Not me... But "medium range" and "long range" doesn't mean much to, and i'm sure many others too. Knowing distance in games like this can be very beneficial I think.
@mmx25 c, thats ur problem, and y this vid was made. i dont ''peripheral vision'' if i can manage my surroundings well. couple that w accuracy and quick aiming because of larger objects...oo and dont forget map management, and then u get me owning you. if u cant top 700 spm n this game, then u dont hav a chance
saying all that it sounds like you get nowhere fast but I've seen most of your other vids and your not slow at all - so thanks for the insight into how many calculations you 'top players' are doing for any given situation.
@LevelCapGaming You talk about Scrapyard being bad map design because "it punishes tactical payers" but it's on of Sandy Ravages favorites. You tend to play a cerebral game but he manages to combine that with excellent twitch reflexes. Arguably you need to level up & stop camping. But at the end of the day, whatever makes you happy.
LevelCap, I love your videos, but open maps do not equal poorly designed maps. They just require a different strategy to run through, particularly focusing on teamwork to limit your effective angles of exposure. In other words, if your whole team is behind you and on your right, then you don't have to worry about those angles. I think they were just trying to shake up the, at times, monotonous gameplay. It's not hurting talented players, it's giving them another challenge! Keep up the good work!
whenever I'm feeling a little off my game it helps to come back to these old-school level cap vids
Good video. I'd like to you discuss cover & concealment, including utilizing hard cover vs soft cover, and the enormous benefits (and limitations) of using mortar and 320 smoke in game as well, with an emphasis on cooperating with friends in squads.

Not checking my angles of exposure made me leave BF3 for a long while.
But now, I almost NEVER die.
Thanks.

Bro, u dont imagine how that "How to corner" video helped me, keep doing these tips videos.

LvL its really good that you want to learn the ''basics'' to people, dont let people controll you!
For newer FPS players, this is a nice vid. For us experienced players, its a nice reminder! Great vid LevelCap.
As I watch your videos. I realize that I do most of this without actually realizing it. This is good video

BF is my first FPS game so these tips comes very handy for me. (im 30 years old so its not like I just got my first computer) keep the basics coming.

I just want to say..... Thank you.
I have bought bf like yesterday and your tips 'n tricks REALLY helped me out
I really like this tips. I apply this in all shooter games and it really helps me. I really appreciate this tips lvlcap, well done.

cant belive ur the only gamer i no who does soooooo many episodes of 1 type of serie (e.g get to the chopper)
do you know when your going to make any new pro tips video
i would love to see a pro tip video on how to use cover
thanks i really like all of your video keep it up

85-90 only if u have very large screen. since when u zoom in, (using Cobra/red dot) it kicks ur FOV back to 60. so i prefer to already be zoomed in
I swear LevelCap has the ability to stop time, scan his entire screen for hostiles, and then resume time and whoop their asses....
same hear. that peaking video showed me 1 or2 new things i didn't even realize could be happening.
Uhm, most snipers are far away, if they running into your face, you've either forced them into a close quarters situation, or its a close quarters map.

LvC can you please make a video about guns that need and don't need a foregrip?
To me, all this comes naturally. I tend to avoid being exposed in large open areas, and find a cover where there are the least possible angles of exposure.
Lvlcap do u do this episode in a live or post commentary?
how about doing a thoght process on say Oman where you are US, coming into town & emphasize on areas of less resistance, utilizing weak points of defences, avoiding snipers, both on foot & in vehicle

Does it look like there's something wrong with lvlcap's soldier's second arm?
I was once at spetsnaz training and the trainer was shouting at them
"HUG THE ***** WALLS!", "DON'T STAND IN THE ***** MIDDLE OF THE **** FIELD, *****" and so on.
And that's about the same what LvLcap tried to bring you, but without cursing.
hey lvl how do you limit your angles for those bullets that curve around corners lol?
these are great tips
but what would you do in a map like damavand peak??
which is a very open map
Getting ready for BF2042..................................................................................................... I be pumped
Thanks to level cap im getting alot better games now i always peak before i turn my corner
@TheKyshu I'm like one of the bad players in bf, but I know where I will be shot from, I just don't have the reaction and accuracy to fire back. That's the problem with many players, they get wound up about these minor things and forget to practice agility and good eye to shoot more accurately:)
Hey Levelcap, How do you respond to enemies on the minimap or around you for example when you appear surrounded on the map
You should make Video about Operation Metro. and Angles and stuff like this one in OM
i never use the minimap mainly because i play Hardcore No Map. Lvl all these pro tips are all common sense to me
Logical conclusion to this video. Sit in dark corner and camp. This game needs more of that.
this video helped me a lot. I have good gun skill, especially for a console guy, but the foundation for my tactics was'nt really there
lol, these videos are so helpful that i don't even watch that many because i have kinda gotten to around lvlcaps level
Re: Scrap Metal Map
Is that bad level design? Or does it just promote team play? If you are moving into the killing floor and you've got a guy up on the balcony behind, you know that angle is "safe"
Not me... But "medium range" and "long range" doesn't mean much to, and i'm sure many others too. Knowing distance in games like this can be very beneficial I think.
What Keyboard are you using? Guessing i'd say Razers BlackWidow.
Is it better to have a higher FOV in FPS games?
Thanks, LevelCap, you've taken my 1.1 KD/R, and turned it into a 2.1. :)
good video overall lvlcap, most people make this mistake often when choosing a gun spot...
This would have been really good about 10 months ago but I still like this
I spam the Q button (spotting) when i go ads ,it has spotted a ton of people i had no idea were there,
head glitch spots ? what do you mean with that?
@mmx25 c, thats ur problem, and y this vid was made. i dont ''peripheral vision'' if i can manage my surroundings well. couple that w accuracy and quick aiming because of larger objects...oo and dont forget map management, and then u get me owning you. if u cant top 700 spm n this game, then u dont hav a chance
saying all that it sounds like you get nowhere fast but I've seen most of your other vids and your not slow at all - so thanks for the insight into how many calculations you 'top players' are doing for any given situation.
I think Scrapmetal was designed for the dangerous aspects to make it so fast paced.
so good he teaches others to get on his level
How many people actually check angles in Tdm?
Hey it's been a while since i played this game. Is their a way to find enemies and get better at shooting at them?
Great video, It's about basic things but I tend to forget the basics.
