    I have a question...for Hydrogen atom ..we know there is only 1s orbital...so when energy is supplied..electron moves to another higher orbital which doesn't exist for hydrogen(i.e.2s)...but we get of the hydrogen spectrum as different lines(Balmer,Paschen etc)...so where does the electron go actually for hydrogen atom when energy is supplied to it?

    • @mathsfanatics
      @mathsfanatics 3 года назад +1

      Good Question. Firstly energy level doesn't necessary means the orbit. There are different energy levels possible where the single electron can jump when get excited.
      Electrons in a hydrogen atom must be in one of the allowed energy levels. If an electron is in the first energy level, it must have exactly -13.6 eV of energy. If it is in the second energy level, it must have -3.4 eV of energy.
      Energy Level and Energy
      1 -54.4 eV
      2 -13.6 eV
      3 -6.04 eV
      And so on.... Different energy level means where the electron can revolve around the nucleus with fixed L and E. Also remember the concept of orbital was not introduced in this time.

    Sir Rutherford ko apane experiment ke konse results se pata Chala tha ki elecron apne orbit me rivolve kar rahe hai???

    • @suharshsharma6764
      @suharshsharma6764 3 года назад

      Rutherford gold foil experiment

    • @abridgetool
      @abridgetool 3 года назад +1

      Wo gold foil experiment k baad unka assumption tha ki jab saara positive charge center mein hai to negative charge particles atom mein rest state mein nahi ho sakte, solar system k planets ki tarah wo saare negative charge center mein placed positive charge ke charo aur revolve kar rahe honge.
      par yahi unke model ka drawback hua, planets mein koi charge nahi hota isliye wo bina center mein gire sun ke charo aur resolve karte hain par negative charge particle positive charge ke charo aur bina energy khoye revolve nahi kar sakte, isse maxwell ke law ka violation ho jaata.
      unke model ke hisaab se electron ka atom mein nucleus ke charo aur ghoomte ghoomte path chhota chhota hota jaata aur wo akhir mein nucleus mein gir jata, yaani atom stable nahi ho sakta tha par hum jaante hain aisa nahi hota, tabhi to aap main exist karte hain, isi baat ko bohr ne apne model mein explain kiya ki aisa kyu nahi hota.
