Love the car. Dark green, black vinyl roof, american racing slots, & a 429 4bbl with duel exhaust. Hell yea. Just park it in my driveway. I will take good care of it.
I get a chuckle out of guys saying the underside isn't good. Frame off, blasted? C'mon. To me, a guy from Canada, it looks absolutely amazing underneath. Beautiful LTD, that in years back I wouldn't have bat a eye at. Today, I really like the look, plus you rarely see a nice one anymore. Cheers.
That's a really good looking underside for this old of a car. Chassis is always gonna have some surface rust unless it's all blasted and recoated. You can tell it still has pretty fresh undercoating for the sheetmetal and the trunk isn't rusted out either.
That is one nice Ford. I said it before and I’ll say it again every time I hear the engine running in these classics the Fords are always the quietest.
This one has a rear sway bar, which every big car should. I have installed them in every big car I have owned and it improves the handling by a large factor.
Beautiful car. Had one this same color in High School in 79. Very tough car that was alot faster than people gave it credit for. The right rear tire never had a chance...lol.
my dad bought this car for me from a little old lady who only drove it to church it was brand new basically this was in 99 but i had such love for this car at first i wasnt keen on it but when i got in and started it i just fell in love.
Had one in 1973. Not an LTD but a Custom500, 2 door hardtop with a 302 engine. Body was rotting away already, took it in for a cheap body job and paint. The guy hit the back fender with the grinder and the fender almost disintegrated in front of his eyes. This era of cars, any car, just did not like a northern climate and winter roads I guess. Soon after that the transmission gave out. I then got rid of it for 900 bucks. But I do like this model year looks.
When I was about 15 my friends dad bought one like this for $300 because it didnt have a title. He was going to put the engine in his 77 Thunderbird. My friend used to sneek it out after his dad went to bed and take it out on the freeway. That 429 would haul ass and smoke the tires. In the end his dad sold it to a junkyard without ever taking the engine out.
I have a general contempt for American 70s cars (Shut it. I was there. They were crap.), but... I stumbled across one of these in very well-maintained trim and I have to admit, it was a remarkably capable and surprisingly well-balanced car. It would hold ludicrous drifts all day. Hop curbs, go offroad, do a few donuts...a real hoot. If I came across another one I'd be mighty tempted.
Considering this LTD is 52 years old, the undercarriage looks really good, a lot better than most cars half it's age. I like the car as I've owned a few including a '72 Custom with a 429 PI. I currently own a '72 Galaxie 500 that I purchased from the original owner in 1995 and while it's not as trimmed up as an LTD, I've always thought these big Fords were good looking cars. The non-original buckets and console look good though I'm not a fan of the wheels. They look too modern on this LTD to me but I'm sure a lot of guys will like them just fine; to each his own. I have the original wheels with the turbine full wheel covers but I went with chrome reverse wheels with baby moon hubcaps. As far as the price goes, it seems fair to me for a nice car with a big block. As I've said before, if you think it's too much, go find me one just like it for less money.
@@brandonhumphries3377 Hi Brandon, can you tell us a bit more about this option? I've never seen an LTD with factory buckets and the "thrust lever" shifter. Do you know in which years they were available? I'm looking for a 71-73 4-door and it would be nice to find one with this option package.
IF ONE COULD BUY THIS CAR AND AFFORD TO SEND IT TO A BODY SHOP TO RESTORE THE COMPLETE UNDER SIDE THIS WOULD REALLEY UP THE VALUE; AND KEEP IT PROTECTED AS WELL.
This car has the bucket seats with center console. A friend I know who is a Ford mechanic has a car like it but white with a blue interior. Has all the toys IE fully loaded even has bucket seats.
No Ford’s last attempt at a new LTD was the Ford 500, in the mid 00’s, and it didn’t last too long. Ford has since abandoned nice cars in favor of SUV’s & pickups. They call it, “The Way Forward.” I call it, “They can have it.”
@@B3burner What will Ford do if the government to reduce wear on the roads required DOT numbers on trucks that exceed a certain weight such as ford 350s and above? A lot of pavement queen owners say that they "need" such trucks. We haven't had a federal gas tax raise since 1993 with a target inflation rate of 2 percent, and there also has been alot of above average inflation recent. Guess what? Infrastructure material costs such as rebar and asphalt go up along with plywood and copper wiring. The people who think that the American president spins a "wheel of gas prices" in his office will be shocked to find that to keep the roads functioning will likely have to spend 5 or 6 dollar a gallon on average going forward for normal gas prices? What will they do when we have to pay 7-8 dollars on average during an economic crisis event such as the USA bombing Saudi Arabia? Probably prostitute their wife & daughters out like what happened in Wiemar Germany.
This is an AWESOME car an LTD 2dr./w bucket seats.the only thing I would opt.for is a standard transmission. a four speed or possibly a T55 borg warner five speed overdrive. since Ford Motor Company can't build an automatic transmission that's worth a shit. and it has my favorite kind of wheels on it. aluminum slot mags I have them on all my vehicles. they are simply the coolest wheels ever made no doubt.
THEY WERE ASKING 16,000$ TO MUCH BY AROUND 4,500$ IT NEEDS A COMPLETE FRAME OFF BLASTED AND RE-STORED UNDERCARRIAGE. I WOULD HAVE ONLY OFFERED 11,800$ IF NOT OUT THE DOOR.
My "belly" does not look that great after 50+ years old either! ha, ha! My first car was a 71 LTD 2dr. White with black interior. 400 2bbl. I got it in 1979 from my Grandpa for $10... ha, ha.. All my money went into gas and insurance as a 16 year old kid! Always dreamed of my LTD looking like that.. I wanted those same exact wheels or maybe some Crager S/S 5 spokes.. Love the buckets and center console. Don't think they ever came with a 4 speed, but the 429 is nice! Sweet car.

Glad you pointed that out, as I’ve overlooked it myself.
My dad's first car was one of these. It looked EXACTLY like this.
Same here! It was his 2nd FORD he bought new, 1st was a '68 Mustang.

I'm not really a green person but I like this one. Very shiny, great car and excellent video. A thumbs up for you also. Peace.
2-door, 429 motor I"LL TAKE IT!!!! NICE AUTOMOBILE!!
Absolutely! They don't make them like that anymore! A real American car!
Back in the UK we saw the Ford Cortina Mk 3 on the road while the Americans had these luxurious monsters.
My Uncle had one. Fun cars.
I have this same car same options but mint metalic green

No. No you weren't there.
Apparently this year/car is referenced as Uncle Jessy's old moonshine running car used in an earlier episode of the Dukes of Hazzard, cool.
