Her intent to teach us IsiXhosa, for us to search for phrases, she nailed. I grew to love IsiXhosa from watching her and loved amaqhalo nezaci as a result. This was outside of school as I didn't have IsiXhosa as a subject at school. What a career. What a lady. We appreciate her!

Now I understand why Arch Bishop Tutu once said South Africa is the beacon of Hope throughout the world, He meant characters like Mam Noxolo Grootboom who may come as simple yet carrying the values the world needs. Mam’Noxolo allowed God to use her in the newsroom to inform and love the nation. A simple seed that is making the whole country to sob, that’s the anointing right there. “Ndinithanda nonke emakhaya” is bearing fruits today when the whole nation is giving the love back to you. The whole world will draw inspiration out of your retirement.
