Short hopping shrimp lures sure is a great way to catch a bunch of trout! I like those lures under a cork, but another way I do it is with DOA shrimp, put a glass rattle in one of the holes in the body, so when you twitch the rod it makes that shrimp clack.

How do you have your leader setup? Do you have mono on a swivel?

It’s a mono to braid knot. It’s 10lb braid connected to 17lb monofilament. I don’t use swivels and they can break your rod tip if you reel them in and also can be visible in clear water
