Who was most unlucky to miss out: I would have taken Colwill and Elliott in my provisional. Also ignore what I said about Gallagher, at end of the video I realise it would be silly not to take him and remove an extra CB to make my final 26 lol.

Pretty much agree with everything except that I would carry 14 (rather than 15) defensive minded players for the 5 starting defensive outfield positions and 9 attacking players (rather than just 8) for the 5 starting attacking outfield positions. I would probably drop Wharton or Trippier for Toney.
Rashford should be nowhere near the squad.
Not final 26 but should make 33 over Grealish as he has 18 goals for England.

Elliott should have been called up, sad for him. Based on recent form, I would have taken him over Jones
The worst thing about the squad is SOUTHGATE !!!!
When you look at the squad there's not a lot of defensive type midfielders,
Jones plays on the left side of midfield and is more all round player who can contribute to attack and defence
You look Elliot's position you got Saka Foden Palmer he not going to get picked ahead of those players

I'm surprised Southgate grew some balls finally. I think Rashford being dropped is for the best. It's needed, not just for England, but for himself and man u. Gives him a boot up the backside. My money says he's gonna drop Gordon, there's gonna be a bad decision somewhere
He won't drop Gordon...the lad played well in the last lot of friendlies plus he is top of the stats for goals/assists against the Big 6 - which Southgate likes - big game player...

Now he's suddenly seen the light, I can't help but wonder if he can mess this up some other way. I don't envy the guy, it's a tough situation, but if he doesn't start Gordon, he deserves the slatings he's been getting for once
How anyone is taking Harry 'strikes fear into the heart of every England fan' Maguire is beyond me. The pace of a slug and the turning circle of the Graf Spee. His only asset is his slabtastic heading ability (on occasion). Lord spare us from him ever donning three lions ever again.
Gordon can do a good job on the right if he needs to, he had a few really good games at rw when Almiron and Murphy were injured, he's also pretty good up front too
CB will be Stones/Maguire. I would take Quansah over Maguire.

Might be an unpopular take but I think James would have been useful off the bench. I also think Solanke is better than Toney

As a Liverpool fan I feel for Harvey but I don’t think he’s the kind of player that England needs. England have all the offense they could ever need but they need players who specialize in possession retention, press resistance and tempo dictation to help out in the transition from defense to offense and keep control of the game. Without someone like this England will have to over rely on rice or Bellingham to progress the ball from deep and will result in problems. I think jones will be perfect for them.
Elliott is massively overrated anyway, he's one-dimensional to say the least. It's clear how he would give anything to be this world class player that he'll never be. I was honestly surprised how he was such a favourite of Klopp. Playing him over even a sub-par Szoboszlai well under his ceiling was a crime in my opinion.
But, based on his current form, I think he should have at least made it to the 33 squad.
I wouldn't pick trippier and I'm a Newcastle fan. He's not even our best right back and I would take young hall over him on the left. He's had a catastrophic second half of the season

I partially agree but LB is easily the most shaky position for England with the uncertainty of Shaw, so having an experienced player like Trippier may be needed, and the simple fact that he plays both RB and LB will be very important considering not many fullbacks were bought, but if Liveremento was fit I'd take him over Trippier on either side
I’d cut Trafford, Shaw, Guehi, Dunk, Maddison, Grealish & Toney. Also I would’ve included Elliott & Solanke at least in the provisional squad.

I actually think Gomez should be a dead cert to go because he provides cover across the back four and even DM in a pinch and only takes up one slot. Southgate would be mad not not take him.

I agree with the selection, 5 center backs are more than enough. Gallagher over a sixth center back. You could also move Palmer to the AM position where he's even more dangerous.

Sancho good at Bundesleague speed -- no good at Premiership or England speeds
England needs a leftback: Ben Chilwell. Against the big teams with fast pace wingers, you're gonna struggle with an injured Luke Shaw. Agree with you that the Rashford hate is far exaggerated, sure he's not in form but he's had big moments in the past. Disagree with you that Gomez is solid. He's so inconsistent. One day he looks like he can do it all, the other day he makes one mistake after another. Great video!
Not sure its correct to say Hate for Rashford.
Simple fact is he hasn't played well at all and has went hiding when it mattered. Others have played more and played better.
Southgate biggest criticism was that he stuck with those not in form, now he hasn't and has picked form players.
Those saying Rashford being dropped aren't haters, they are consistent in their calls for picking on form and not on past endeavours.

The fact Elliott isn't in there is a disgrace. I understand there's a couple in the squad that sre similar positions and style to him, but he's been one of the best english players.
Foden, Palmer and Saka kind of ruin his chances, but he should still be in.
Foden's talents are largely wasted using him only as a winger.
He should be vying for the attacking midfield role.
He was an attacking midfielder for most of his youth career, was used by Pep as a winger for a few years, but has really blossomed into the AM role in the past 2 years.
How Jones got in ahead of harvey is a mystery only Southgate can answer.
Livramento probably wouldnt have been picked due to a recuring ankle injury. He was out last two games with a further 5 in March and April. He has not gone to Australia as hes being rested to recover from this injury. Another Specialised LB should have been picked Mitchell or possibly Hall.

We must remember this is only provisional so there could be disappointments. Apart from weak left back options, England SHOULD be winning a major tournament by now. If we don’t then Southgate has wasted our young talent again.
If England come up short again, especially if Southgate gets tactically outclassed again, surely he has to go

One of Klopp's regrets, was not playing Elliot more. If he can play for LFC more consistently, he'll be undeniable for England.
He won't ever make it.Tgealrwady have Foden Bellingham and Palmer who play behind the striker creating.
Everyone is assuming Shaw will be fit....even if he is, with such limited game time since Jan, it will take him the whole tournament to get back to fitness levels you'd expect....so for that reason alone, he shouldn't even be in the frame, regardless of whether he is the best left back we have at the moment or not. Good to see all the young players getting a pick. Solanke and Elliott are the unlucky ones, both had good seasons. Of course, all of this will amount to nothing if Southgate does the usual and stick with the same 11 players from start to finish....while the other nations will rotate and make the maximum use of their squads.

Don’t disagree with you too much although Shaw will rupture his hamstring getting of the plane so I’d have liveramento in ahead of him. Rashford don’t deserve to be anywhere near a football pitch let alone an England squad. Really don’t get your defense of him when Gordon has been doing what Rashford does every 2 or 3 years all season. Eze should be in ahead of Madison as he is in dire form and don’t know how to pass forward. Also am stunned that Toney is in ahead of Solanke. Toney has not scored in his last 12 games and not even looked interested.

Rashford is very different. Grealish/Palmer/Gordon are all decent on the ball and would be useful options.
Welbeck 2.0, in his current woeful form, would be as useful as the kitman.

Disagree that Grealish is similar to the other winger options. If you're 2-0 up and just want to minimize risk and kill time, or just generally want a more controlled game, I don't think there's any winger you'd pick over Grealish
Also seems like at least one more CB and/or DM can be dropped in favor of attacking players

I'd be taking Toney above Quinsah or Konsa. Only takes 1 injury to be down to just 1 backup striker. We've made them mistakes plenty of times in the past, look at Walcott going ahead of Defoe in 06.
