- My Volvo 544 1964. Customized and restored under a 10 year period. The car roof is lowered 50mm on the A-pillar. Widened rear fenders, and a lot of small adjustments on the body. The engine is a tuned Volvo B20. Modernized transmission (M47 five- speed) with hydraulic clutch. The car grill is from a 1956 Volvo 444. The dashboard aswell. The whole interior is made of black leather. 3 coat painting. Customized by me, Andreas Karlsson.

I like the car and everything but it seems like if VOLKSWAGEN mated with a Ford Mercury or some sort. lol 😂
Your car is beautiful man! I always have admired the few 544's I used to see here in So Cal. I also always thought it would have been cool to hot rod one. You did it and it is perfect! 👍

Å fy fan vad snyggt. Vanligtvis gillar jag inte när man Customiserar gamla godingar med det här, toppen! Farsan hade en PV 544 när jag var barn. Bästa bil han har haft sa han alltid genom åren. Grattis till ett bra arbete.

Man o man, I remember seeing these in Winston Salem, NC, when I worked on building Forsyth Hoapital. Always loved the style and size of these 544s. Now I’m 75+ and can’t afford one of these or a new one. 1 also liked the 122 Amazon and don’t remember the series, but it was the first square series. They were neat cars. Had a chance to buy one when in Germany back in 1986, but passed it up. I was not sure if it met US specs.

I owned a 1961 PV 544 as a college boy. All I can say is that it was my favorite car of all time and I would love to have it back. He did not argue or talk back well driving at 80 to 90 miles an hour across the state of Oregon. It also started at four below zero when none of the American cars would start. Your car and they obviously find work to build it have just made an old man’s day!

I guess the engine at idle is supposed to be pecking? I've a 1964 as well yet I dropped in a small block chevy in mine. I made a true hot rod out of it that way.
Path Below This was the first time I started it after a long winter. Small adjustments on the carburetors then it went like it should.
@@TheAKarlsson it sounded like a valve adjustment was needed. Did you drive it cold? Another of these the engine had a main bearing was bad. In the states it was to expensive to rebuild it. Instead I installed a 2.4 Toyota pickup engine in it. Large can with 2 side carbs and intake. Headman ceramic header and 2 in. Exaust. Nice. Everyday driver.
Path Below the valve clearance is exactly set. The fan and generator dominate a bit of the sound of the movie.

I have always had a warm spot for Volvo 544. I had two of them while in college and were both unique. There were other cool cars on campus but mine were often talked about. Both were bone stock '64 models w/ B18B motors. Wish I still had one.

Nice job! What transmission shifter are you using? I have a 1965 544 and I would like to relocate the shifter.
Al Ellish the entire gearbox comes from Volvo 240 (M47). 5 speed. The cardan shaft and transmisson tunnel as well.

Did the trans bolt up to the b20 bellhousing?
To fit the m47 with the b20 you need to have the rare bellhousing from volvo 240 from 1975-76. That car was mounted with b20 and m45 gearbox (wich is bolt on with m47).

Very nicely done,..the red paint and chrome compliment each other and the shape of the car too.On a personal note for my-self I would have added running boards but that's just me. This is a great looking car.

Nice Job! Dropping the top takes away that pregnant VW look and makes a 544 look so much sleeker.Only somebody that is over 6'4" would notice the missing headroom. I'm about to put some cash upgrades into my 544 with a 5 speed and new wheels and rubber. Beautiful custom work.
