    Yep, no one can resist baby Thandie! 😍 Loved the way Amahoro kicked up her right leg to let Thandie know she was crooked and could fall off that side.

      Everytime I saw Thandie on Ama's back, Ama does that. It's so lovely to see. As if she pushes her a bit further on her back so she can't fall of. The love of Ama is wonderful.

    Sweet video! I wish Amahoro would have a baby! She is so gorgeous and seems she would be a wonderful mother. Thank you for sharing! Cindy, PLEASE stay safe during this horrible virus. Take care.

    I'm glad Amahoro will experience the joy of little ones since she will never have a child of her own. Lil Thandie makes herself community property as she has no fear being around the other troop members, she makes everyone love her! I marvel at Great Aunt Amahoro's thick silky hair, without a doubt she is quite beautiful, so happy she landed with this calm loving group! Thx for the video Cindy.....

      Hi Swamp5050, Amahoro cant have babies? I just wrote above i wish she would have a baby. Im not sure of her past besides being born wild. Can you fill me in on her story? Thank you so much and stay well and safe! ;-)

      @@maryeddy4871 Not sure if her not having her own offspring is a fault of her own, it’s likely due to the fact she’s an eastern lowland gorilla and they don’t typically encounter and mate with western lowlands in the wild (leading to genetic incompatibility over the years?). It might be possible but it’s not wise for the zoo to start experimenting with hybrids in the name of conservation anyway. On the other hand it looks like she has great relationships with the other female gorillas in the troop and they definitely trust her enough to handle their children:) edit: from comments on other videos, it looks like the zoo is keeping her on birth control to play it safe and prevent a hybrid from being born 👍

      @@jessc7039 , Thank you. I never thought about that and appreciate you educating me on this. I think because they are Gorillas, I didnt see an issue because of their location of birth and as I saw it a small genetic difference. But, I guess I am wrong thinking it wouldn't be an issue to have Amahoro mate with that Silverback because she is an E.L.G. I really didn't think it would be an issue with offspring, but, seems Im wrong and thank you for the kind reply. I asked this many times on comments and never got a reply so thank you so much for the answer. Amahoro is such a gorgeous Female and would be nice to see her have a baby. But, as you said, she interacts with the little ones there and maybe she will be a 2nd Mom, the Auntie who takes over when Mom needs a break. Just like Kamba at Prague Zoo. She had a bad miscarriage and never could have a baby. Kamba is the 2nd Mom of all the Prague Gorilla-Kids and adored by all. Maybe sometimes it is a blessing in disguise if they can't have babies, this way they can help the other Moms care for them when Mom needs a break. Thanks again and please be safe! Happy New Year.

      @@maryeddy4871 I’m glad I could help out! I’ve seen you comment on many gorilla videos and could tell that you share a huge passion for gorillas - I couldn’t bear it to leave your question hanging 😊 Amahoro is definitely a beautiful gorilla and has such a wonderful calmness and maturity to her :) Kamba is a very kind and loving soul, its unfortunate none of her babies made it... I believe she babysat all of Kijivus children once the siblings came along and even breastfed a few of them when she was able to; very generous of her. Amahoro and Kamba are prime examples of how important every gorilla in the troop is, even if they can’t have their own kids. I think a lot of times people get caught up in hoping every female will breed but these ‘aunties’ provide a lot of value, comfort (Oooh especially when a new sibling is born ... jealous burns) and socialization skills that are needed when each child eventually moves on to other zoos and meets other unrelated gorillas. Happy New Year and you be safe as well 🙂

      @@jessc7039 , Hey, yes, we have spoke before. Very true what you wrote. Kamba did breast feed Nuru and even Tatu ( my sweet boy who passed ) and Moja. They would feed from Kijivu (Mom ) but also take a few swipes from Kamba. Another great role that Kamba played was after a new baby is born, they lose their spot sleeping with their Mom and I remember a video ( cannot seem to find it anymore ) After Kiburi was born, you see sweet Tatu trying to cuddle Mom at night and then he stood up, looking confused and sad Mom didnt want him that close. Well, Kamba came and grabbed Tatu and they slept together from then on. Sadly, Moja lost Kamba and she wasnt shy about showing her anger either. But, Aunts are great and I think Kamba gave all that love she wanted to give to her own baby to the Prague Kids and she is so wonderful with them. I think Kamba kind of "took over" with Nuru. Kind of funny how she kind of acted like she was his Mom. But, Kijivu let her most of the time with three other kids to manage. So, maybe the beautiful Amahoro will be like Kamba is to the kids in Prague. It is always nice for the kids to have another Female give them a mothers love! Take care.

    Amahoro is beautiful and I love Thandie but I must confess, I don't see what everyone else is seeing. Maybe it is because I am new to watching gorilla videos (I'm obsessed lately) but I didn't think Amahoro was being as tender with Thandie as I am used to seeing her mom and other gorilla moms be. I love watching Genki with her boys Kintaro and Gentaro. She is very loving. You only see her gently swipe their hands away and occasionally push at them when they misbehave. Amahoro pushed at Thandie and flung her around quite roughly and quite fast. That made me think she didn't want to be bothered/was sad/or was upset. Couldn't help but wonder if she feels sad because she is the only one and (unless they get a male like her) she will not get to have her own baby. Even when she got ready to walk away, the gestures she made seemed to me like she didn't necessarily want this kid hitching a ride and that she wanted Thandie's foot out of the crook of her hip. Was it just me or did anyone else wonder if Amahoro was being distant with Thandie? Is this just normal behavior for gorilla moms and "aunties"? Maybe Genki is just unusually gentle?

    • @GorillaFanNL
      @GorillaFanNL  3 года назад +3

      She really loves to spend time with Thandie. The gestures your talking about is only that she wants to put Thandie up higher. They both love this. Thandie comes over often, so she's really happy too.

    Странное поведение гориллы. Пендаль неожиданно дала малышу и собралась уходить. Спасибо, малыш успел зацепиться за спины гориллы. Может, она взяла поиграть малыша у мамы, у которой двое детей. Сейчас мама увидит своего малыша и возьмет его. У этой гориллы, кажется, и груди нет. Я наблюдала в полуоборудованном зоопарке, когда мамы дают на время своего одного ребенка, но потом забирают его.

      The mom only has one kid; this girl: Thandie. She's already 1 year and 7 months. Thandie loves to spend time with the other gorillas. And mommy is fine with it. Something that's normal. There are always babysitters, but then they're sibblings and not another female. Thandie went over to Amahoro herself. They played a bit and Amahoro took her inside afterwards.
