    In this video, Justin Pritchard test drives the new Nissan Kicks - a small crossover that needs to be on your radar if a low price and lots of cargo room are more important than all-wheel drive (AWD).
    The Nissan Kicks is excellent, but AWD isn't an option. Tester is a top-line Nissan Kicks SR.

    You are the first reviewer who mentioned all the features that attracted me to the car and why I chose the Kicks over other cars. I remember getting into the Venue and noting, "This hurts my injured leg and is harder to get into than the Kicks. I just slid into the Kicks. It was the perfect height." Then when I went around to the back and they opened the cargo space, my disappointment was palpable. I realized how much bigger the cargo space was on the Kicks. The cargo space on the Kicks is bigger than on a lot of SUV's. I consider the Kicks an SUV. I don't see the difference between it and many of compact the SUV'S I park next to (except for the price). Then the Hyundai dealer added $1,400.00 in insurance options and protective pin-striping I had to take before he'd sell me the car, and I left the Venue dealer and headed to the Nissan dealer. (I had been driving a Kicks as a rental car and liked it.) Almost a year later and everything is still fine. I have the SV version. If I had it to do again, I might go for the SR version because I'd like the LED headlights, the tonneau cover, the 360 camera, and the softer padding on the dash. But the SV price is attractive with a plethora of safety features.

    Hello! I would like to let Justin know that as a Kicks owner, I truly appreciated this review. In other reviews I noticed everyone wants to compare it to something else. IMO it’s in a class of its own, and yes, I do agree, I wish I had a bit more storage up front but I love my car.
    Also, everyone seems to forget that the Kicks has a sports mode. On the SR, which is what I’m driving, there is a button on the gear shift. I figured I’d just mention that last part.
    I also use to drive a Nissan Versa hatchback. There is a lot more room in the Kicks.

    Justin! Great to see you, man!
    I'm a little disappointed that the uber-quirky Juke has left the North American market, though Nissan seems to have a hit on their hands, in the Kicks. And like the Micra, the smallest Nissans seem to have fun factor built in (inspite of the CVT only option).
    Good review, keep up the good work!

      I live on saskatoon, SK where snow usually turns into ice. So far it has been tough driving with my Nissan Kicks even with winter tires from the dealership. It's do-able but I have a tough time driving over the snow when i have come to a complete stop so you always have to be careful when waiting for your left or right turns.

Their only complaint is that their current car rides low and they are getting older. Is there another car you would recommend for two empty nesters?

      Most 2WD vehicles would be fine with a set of snow tires ...........

    • @dave3682
      @dave3682 3 года назад

      @@davidjym The greatest marketing ploy ever achieved was convincing everyone that they need awd/4x4... it's just a waste of money... more expensive to buy, more expensive to fuel, more expensive to insure, and more expensive to fix/maintain.
      If you're smart and know how to drive in the snow (gentle on the accelerator, gentle on the break, always leave plenty of room ahead of you, never break during a skid, and never drive over 45mph on fresh snow/ice) then you don't even need snow tires, though they do help, and you certainly don't need awd/4x4!
      The only exceptions I can think of are if you live on a steep hill and/or live way out in the country where your roads are the last to be plowed.

      Unless you know how to... well, you know... drive. I have lived my entire life, in Michigan (we get a ton of snow) without AWD and never missed it. Learn how to drive and AWD is just a waste of money. Nice to have, but completely needless, in everyday driving conditions. Just ask my next door neighbor who gets her AWD vehicle stuck in her driveway, every morning (while me and my FWD do just fine).

    So it's slower and has less space inside than a Versa while costing more. I guess the marketing might be able to get some gullible people. Terrible car though. I mean it has drum brakes in the rear. It's 2019 and it has drum brakes. Cost cutting at its finest

    • @HLMAX
      @HLMAX 5 лет назад +15

      What an idiot. Do you think people buying the Kicks are doing hot laps around the Nurburgring? The Kicks is a light car with high center of gravity, which means less load on the rear brakes. Drums brake are more efficient, keep dirt & debris out, and simpler to incorporate parking brake. Save the money and give the buyer tangible stuff like fuel efficiency, lots of cargo space, proximity key, remote start, premium stereo system, knee airbag, blind spot warning, LCD Gauge, Car play/Android Auto, LED headlights, heated mirror and seats, etc. I'll bet you won't find a car with all that for less money.
      Oh, by the way, with drum rear brakes, the Kicks' 0-60 stop is shorter than the Civic, Golf & Corolla with disc rears. The 2019 Corolla's standard rear brakes are drums; they have the option of rear discs for idiots that are dreaming of testing the Nurburgring lap record.
