    I am working on two pairs of mittens where the cuff uses this. I just finished the first mitten, after making two unsuccessfully, and now I’m starting the second mitten. All four times so far, I’ve gone back and watched this video! Maybe by the fourth mitten I will remember how it works, but I’m sure by the time I ever need this technique again I will have forgotten it and will need to come back! So happy I live in this day and age, that supports my inability to remember techniques 😂 thanks for a great video!

    I've downloaded your lace tutorial from Ravelry. I'm looking forward to working through it! Another great informative video. I appreciate that you explain the reason that this particular provisional CO method (i.e., the use use of a cable) is one that you especially like. Thanks!!

    Suzanne, Do you have a video and/or a way to solve the problem of being a stitch short when unzipping a provisional cast on? Your videos and technique explanations are so helpful. You are always my first resource when I don't know how to do something or have a question in knitting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Ellen

    Hi Suzanne, how is the lace cast on different from a "regular" provisional cast on other than how the stitches are cast on? Is the lace cast on specifically used for lace patterns? I'm new to lace knitting so I was just curious. Thanks for another informative tutorial. I really appreciate that you don't rush through any of the steps (in all your tutorials) and that your teaching style is clear and smooth. Happy Knitting!

      It is not different, exactly the same as a provisional cast on over waste yarn. There are many different provisional cast ons, though. This is just one. I will have a video up later today on another type of provisional cast on. Thank you so much for your lovely comments and for watching my videos.

    Would the cable method work for a double knitting project I'm suppose to graft the ends? Thanks

  • @ReallyJillRogoff

    I'm doing the first lesson in your course. So far I have learned several things that are really helpful; but here, with the beginning of the provisional cast-on, I'm coming up against the blithe assumption that everyone who knits is right-handed. Is there a left-handed version of the first part of this video, or am I going to have to give up finishing this module?
    When I signed up for the course, I understood that help would be available. I hope that is true.

    Do this stitches on the cable remain on this cable until you need them? If so, wouldn’t this extra stiff cable get in the way of regular knitting on another circular needles?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 года назад

      Depends on the stiffness of the cable. Use a pliable cable.

    Confused. Cast on with cable needle but when I turn to work the next row, when I knit every loop on my main needle, I now have twice as many stitches as I need. What am I doing wrong? Do I cast on half as many as I need?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  6 лет назад

      Make sure that the provisional yarn is just going along the bottom of your needle and not over it.

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  6 лет назад

      I will work on that. Keep an eye out for it.

    I am casting on the cable needle and am having a problem. Once I begin knitting, do I knit the stitch that goes around the waste yarn and drop off what was the yo? When I do that the cast on comes all apart. Everyone else can do it, so I know it must be a simple mistake I am making. I just don't know what it is. Appreciate help.

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  6 лет назад

      Knit every stitch that is on your working needle. Do not drop any stitches (I think what you are calling yarn overs). let me know if this works or not. Happy knitting.
