You seem to be missing a few points here. First off, I wasn't watching someone being raped. I was watching a rape scene in a movie. You are making them sound like one and the same. They aren't. Second, you are right. Rape is a horrible thing. When a filmmaker utilizes it in their movie, they are looking for a strong emotional reaction from the viewer, knowing how disgusting the act is. When done well, a rape scene can get the make the viewer feel something most other films simply cannot do. When the scene is poorly shot, poorly reasoned, or just feels randomly thrown in, the emotional weight they were hoping for vanishes, and it vanishes fast. At the end of the day, you are taking a piece of fiction, and blowing it out of proportion. It would be no different than complaining about how I reacted to a murder scene.
