I d like to try some texturing , was wondering if there anything laying around the workshop that would do the job rather than paying for the proper tools ?
You could turn the cap end grain and use a chatter tool. They are fairly easy to make. I have a video on chattering in my texturing playlist. I have a video on each of the basic texturing tools. Unless you take up carving, which I don't do, the texturing I do does require the proper tool. You can pick up a Wagner knock off tool for about $30 from Ron Brown's Best. You can get a dremel bit texturing tool from Highland WW for about $30. I use my texturing tools a lot so I feel as thought the money was well spent.
One of the first lathe projects i made that turned out as i had envisaged! Takes me back a few years👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pretty basic but I made three and all of the recipients were pleased with them.
Good use of scrap and leftovers Mike, reminds me of all those little pieces in my scrap box that need to be used up.
I made one about two weeks ago. Not as fancy as yours, but it works. Always good stuff coming out of your shop Mike. Thanks for sharing.
Most just have a round end on the center post. I think the contrasting wood knob with a bit of texturing kicks it up a notch.
very cool mike great project .i've seen stands like this one before at craft sales but most of them are made with band saws or jig saws and a dowel .
A lathe allows you to kick it up a notch.
Love it Mike 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the video Mike!
Awesome job very nice project
I made three of them, one for the kitchen, one for my Mother-in-law and one for my woodturning club for the bathroom.
Great project, Mike, Thanks!!

Thanks mike will check your chattering video, being in Scotland everything seems twice the price what you would pay
I would have made the axle a French rolling pin.
Interesting idea. Thanks for sharing.
