Kia ora e hoa. I've seen a fair bit of your work on yt sharing your thoughts and experiences about Āotearoa NZ, and it's always interesting hearing your feedback. The maturity of your expression belies your years, and you also feel to me like an "old soul'. Who knows, you may have lived here in a former life, hence the feeling of being drawn. FYI; Jason Momoa shared something similar about feeling drawn here. He was to later find out his ancestors travelled from Hawai'i to Aotearoa NZ and settled here and sometime after that, they returned to Hawai'i. So who knows, I'm just sharing. Keep up the great work and all the best for the future. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
@KeihaMoananui-a-kiwa nah, he's pretty straight forward. He just got here. It's good he's making a light-hearted video. Enjoying NZ as he should be - glad for the most part, kiwis are being welcoming and friendly to him.
And the reason he loved the Hangi, it's because of that yummy smoky flavor it has, and everything is soft from the steam cooking. And Maori put a lot of love into their "kai" - food. No i'm not Maori, but i'm Polynesian and love Hangi. Oh, man, so yummy.
NZ is a mean place to grow up. Beaches and rivers just a stone throw away. Peaceful, safe, stress free, easy going environment. I’m definitely grateful to have been raised in New Zealand 💯💯
@@iboss2569 if you’ve lived outside of NZ for long enough you’ll know it’s not cap. We just take it for granted. I grew up in the country in a small town, you might feel different if you grew up in a city like Auckland but trust, we got it good.
Raw fish is so good! It’s cooked in the acid of lemon juice (so not really raw just cold cooked) and served in a coconut cream dressing/soup. It’s honestly worth trying for sure
I been to a 60th birthday today, she's Maori but the food was epic. Hangi, Lu, raw fish, prawns, oysters, spit roast, steam puddings and other puddings. So much food, we each had to fill a large tray of food home, so on my way home I dropped some to my daughter and her fam, a homeless brother and the rest for my mum and dad.
I grew up in Otara in the 70's, Kudu Street. We used to go to Otara Markets just for a bag of Island Donuts. I think it is the yeast that makes them so addictive, just the smell was beautiful. It is really lovely that you appreciate the culture of the food. I never thought I would eat raw fish either but I tried it at a Japanese restaurant and loved it
Love this video!! That was the jam he was singin!🎤”Hey girl kou ofa au I ho sino “ you might not know but you walked in to a hit! Let the polys see this one❤❤
Raw fish in NZ is Banging!!! all in that coconut cream, just Banging... kids gave you a local secret right there, some places do raw fish better than others
@@TonyRule I lived on Kudu Street and went to Clover Park Intermediate. Years later ended up working on the Gold Coast and my manager Mandy Newsome was one year above me at CP. Small world .
@@amandatory7 Clover Park Intermediate was still being built when I was there. We were in Coty Place and I think Boundary Road finished about 200m past where Clover Park Intermediate was being built. I was in the foundation year of Redoubt North Primary in 1978 - my first year of school - I had to go to Puhinui Primary for a few months before it actually opened.
@@TonyRule Did you go to Totora Park swimming ? We would walk there from our street , it was a massive walk up Redoubt. But it was like the movies group of kids walking an adventure just to swim .
@@amandatory7 Yep, Totara Park is a fair hike from Kudu. Te Irirangi Road was only few hundred metres long between Diorella Drive and Shalimar Place! I returned to South Auckland in '84 and went to Papatoetoe Intermediate for Form 1 & 2 and then Papatoetoe High. There's good aerial photos over the years on the retrolens website and you can see how quickly Clover Park, Flat Bush, Otara was developed. But be careful - it's addictive. The images aren't orthorectified so north can be in any direction (but it's usually out in increments of 90° so still relatively easy to get your bearings once you spot a landmarks).
Otara is where the movie "Once we're warriors" was shot, you are literally 5 mins from the Royal Tavern.😂 Damn we missed you at Botany hope you enjoy NZ bro.✌️
Dope ass vid 🔥 me bein from Frisco (SF, CA) and growin up in the projects, you reminded me of how lovely NZ is. Really enjoyed watching this video I really liked the vibe of you and the Pacific Islanders and Maori it was a whole vibe whenever I see you amongst them.
The hangi looks so good, made me feel hungry. If you're still in Auckland before Christmas, you might enjoy taking a walk down Franklin Road, Ponsonby after dark.
Raw fish is marinated in lemon and lime and onion and coconut cream and salt and Abit pepper yummy, good for the brain 😊 Cook Islands raw fish and beetroot in pink potatoe salad, keeps dementia away 😊🎉❤ enjoy your holiday xx
Kia Ora, nau mai ki Aotearoa...before you rule raw fish out, please reconsider because it's absolutely divine😋...the fish is not actually Raw, it's soaked in the acid juice of lemon which cooks it then has coconut cream added🥥
Didn't realize how tall you were, haha. Anyways, thank you for heading out otara. Even if it is not visually appealing, the community there will welcome you with open arms. Theres problems everywhere ❤😊
Lmaoo at 5:33 thats the local hood tweaker. When i was like 15, he used to stand on the corner & just freestyle to himself for hours 😂 that was about 15-16 years ago. He looks like hes improved heaps since then.

If you have a family it's even nicer after a big day
Fun fact, that Hunger Burger Behind you on K rd, Awesome Burgers. top 3 in Auckland for me, Along with Burger Fuel and honestly cant remember the other one. Additional Fun fact, that Barber Next to the Hunger Burger, doubles as a DJ who does Live Sets for you the person hes cutting the hair for, well he cuts your hair, he has a whole DJ Set/Deck set up with a Disco ball and everything, fkn crazy cool, and kinda funny at the same time.
Twano brutha you gots to try that raw fish salad, it's not offensive at all, if anything it is raw fish soaked in citrus juice which cooks it over a few hours in the fridge. Then they add coconut cream and spring onion/red capsicum typically, which sits in fridge overnight, and then served. It is amazingly delicious I kid you not, Peace.
I wish you came through to Papatoetoe Nigh Markets (Friday) but I know your time was limited 💛 come back again. No doubt Papatoe will be your fav one of them all lol.
Awesome work bro I see your positive energy is still pumping but more importantly your vibration levels are rising once the two become identical then life begins to work in your favour..when that happens then we can talk about fine tuning the 3rd element-frequencies..chur
The waterfront one is Silo park night market. Train to Britomart station (in the CBD) walk along the via duct then walk across the Wynyard crossing bridge. The market is probably a 12min walk from the train station
