Love Ian’s WITB and analysis on why he has what clubs he has. Also love his passion for TM clubs he will try different brands for a while but will always gravitate back to TM for feel, looks and performance for him. I look forward to this and the drivers bracket every year there is nothing like it on RUclips!
Ian: "I changed from a 51deg to a 50.985 because I couldnt handle the offset that extra 0.015deg created. I also shortened the shaft by 0.005" to balance the weight a bit better"

Thanks for the honest video. It’s not common for a club fitter to showcase playing clubs from several years back and explain why. Can’t wait to see the next version in a few weeks after some “tinkering.”
Love the fact that Ian went to an older driver head that just work, but with an updated shaft and setup! I bought 2 this years drivers, Stealth 2 and G430 but they just couldn't compete with a G410 Plus for me, slapped a Ventus TR Red into it and it just goes!
g410 driver is just so damn good for me as well. I pair with a Ventus shaft and occasionally hazardous blue counterbalanced. As well as the sim2 3-wood as they were saying in this video

I just put my Ping G25 LST driver in timeout and now have the TM Sim Max in the bag! Absolute gamechanger!

One minute in and Ian's made a damn smart decision still in the Champion's Choice Newport putter! (I prefer the Newport 2).
Not too many people get to stroke a Cameron Button Back, whether it's The Champion's Choice or especially the OG Keopka 08 BB.
The simplistic looks of the OG I slightly prefer, but the Champion's Choice Button Back is designed on my favorite Cameron Head Shape ( talking shape only here) ever made- the Special Select!
Much prefer Special Select to the 08 OG head shape with that high toe. Plus you've got the added moi of the 2020 head, therefore I play the Champion's Choice.
Got one on the original Drop @ 600 or $650 whatever MSRP was originally from my local authorized dealer. Sold for $1000 without hitting it. A week later I ran into an old HS teammate who had a new one on the putting green and FF 1 month later, I had happily purchased the Champion's Choice Newport 2 again for the same markup as I had sold it for. ha! And it'll remain with me forever. Champion's Choice gamer alternates with a few of my other favorites- Oil Can, carbon steel Pro Platinum and of course the Studio Stainless depending on Bent or Bermuda and green speeds.
Its amazing how drivers vary from person to person. My new TRS3 replaced my sim. Picked up ball speed, but also consistency. Smash factor was never under 1.46, and mishits dropped the least out of any driver I've ever hit. Gotta get fitted.
Love to see the 0317CB’s in the bag! Such a great looking club, can’t wait to try them myself.
Just bought a set man. They’re incredible!
I was fit in Project X LZ 6.0 a few years ago. Strayed away the last 2-3 years, but back in them now with my ZX7 irons. Great shaft for me. The profile works really, really well for me.
I have em in my ZX7's too! Fantastic shaft and head combo.
I can’t believe the G430 and i230s are gone wow.
As a beginner, this is so impressive to me. Ian is so tuned in to his individual specs for each club. To have that level of knowledge, the resources, budget etc is on another level. He will enjoy the new season with that set up.

I was basing my original comment on conversations several years ago, at that time he wasn't a fan of PXG, as with many things it looks like I may be lagging behind recent developments

I hear you on the original SIM driver I wish I still had mine. Cracked the face on mine and TaylorMade replaced it with a Stealth that I couldn't launch. Playing the LTDx LS and it's a bomber.

Fairway: Titleist 913F 17 42" TTDG S300
Irons: Titleist 690MB 2-PW TTDG S300
Wedges: CC Vokey 56 and 60 TTDG S300

@@clubchampionmedia While I totally agree when it comes to woods and wedged, I still love my irons. But if I lived anywhere close to Canada (I live in Denmark) I would indeed come for a fitting! :)

That was a quick built to test that combo, it’s getting pulled apart to have the shafts PURE’D before the final build.
The OG Sim has to be one of the best sounding drivers - especially outdoors - in the last ten years. Every time I hear it on the course I’m like 😍 like a well struck fastball in cricket, out of the middle over the rope for six runs. Just can’t live with the white top line, sadly.

I have the PX LZ 6.0 in my Mizuno 225s and it is easily the most stable iron shaft I’ve ever played.

Nice to see some older clubs in the bag! Similar to a few years ago when he had the x2 hot hybrid and the jet speed in fairway. Clubs just don’t stay in his bag as long those days lol.
I’m so tempted to get fit for the cb’s, playing 0311t’s at the min and love them but those cb’s 🤤

From Miura to PXG & JPX. In testing quality of advice it's best to understand the business model that's delivering it. Understanding the business should always be the first step in evaluating the value of the product.
Got that sim 2 ti 3 wood yesterday. Took it to the course and boom…25 extra yds vs gamer.
Gamer still more accurate.
Ordered same shaft that i use on my gamer (Rogue 110 msi 60 3.4 S) so we will see if accuracy improves.
But it’s clear that head is much hotter. Now it’s making my driver look weak!! Bag o worms I opened up.
And that PXG 0317 CB 4 iron I ordered a couple weeks ago will be here tomorrow 😊
Awesome stuff. Maybe Ian and Mat can do monthly updates because I am sure there is lots of tinkering through the golf season.

Nunchuk was the first (patented in 1990's) Tri Zonal golf shaft originally designed by Gerry Hogan.

Sold by Nventix, Nunchuk has a flexible mid section and very stiff tip and butt sections.
Torque, kick and twisting happens well before impact, allowing the lever action to bring the clubface to the ball, square with no kick, flex, or torque. .. time after time.
Gerry Hogan knew to duplicate the lever action of our arms(flexible elbow at mid point).
Project X LZ and others now try to copy that design now out of patent protection. Thank you Gerry Hogan.
@Ian Fraser welcome to the Darkside! Sim 2 ti is my favorite fw ever. I snapped my last motore 8.3 and went to ventus red tr this year and it’s so good. Sim OG could easily go right back in the bag. It definitely has that long one in there. You may want to build up a uw around 20 for that 235 . I put a speeder evo5 in mine and it’s quickly my go to club .
Ian what is funny is how similar our thoughts on the i230s are. I waited for years on them. I love them on a monitor. It’s just not there on course. Mine isn’t a look thing. It just doesn’t translate to play.
Pxg 0211ST change me as well .. 8620 forging is the softest compare to 1020

Well...well..well...now this was an few eye popping configuration Mr. Ian. How nice is it to have access to multiple wood & hybrids so that if "a course" is not suited to your "default" setup...boom one can easily make the adjustments. Us "normal warrior" do not have that luxury :P Well we could it just will cost a vacation or two :P Hope you hit them well. That said, I think Dave and I would have our head in our hands should you put that "driver/fairway/hybrid driver" in the bag....a.k.a "mini driver" known as "TM BRNR." Looking forward to the course vlogs :P Lastly, no BGT on the putter?

i feel the exact same on the hybrid/5/7 wood spot. i went with the HD version of the stealth2 hybrid for added height. absolutely phenomenal

We saw what's in your bag Ian, but what bag do you use? If that has already been mentioned, my apologies. I've thought about trying PXGs, but just for me personally, I don't like the way they look. They're just too industrial looking for me. I used to consider myself an equipment guy until I started watching y'all. Lol! You guys are great.

Really interesting on the Sim woods! The setup makes me feel good about mine with a 3 wood and two hybrids/sub 5 wood!

Does kind of show the difficulty of indoor fitting for a low handicap player. Can be decent indoors but put it in the actual environment you use it and it can be not quite what you are looking for.
Some day there will be a package where you get fit in the morning, take the club(s) out for 9 holes at the course where the fitting centre is located to pick between 2 or 3.
I expect one of these every other week from now on!
Ended up in the tensei 1k orange in my PXG Driver. Tested so many shafts and it was miles ahead of anything else for me
I have a SIM 2 V2 3 wood that has been in the bag for 3+ years and will agree there is nothing that can compare to it. I wish I could find a backup of the V2.
After Ian has played a few rounds with the various clubs, I would like to see an update of his thoughts.
Not surprised by the driver... always going back to the first ex LOL. Granted, even a few TM guys rekindle themselves with the OG SIM.

Mizuno shaft optimizer put me in LZ 5.5 vs S300 in my mp18’s 5 years ago. I went with the LZ’s and they are so good. Would love to try them in the PXG 0317CB!

Great video guys.
I used the gen 1 stealth rescue and had to swap it out for the hen 1 plus model. I couldn't hit a straight shot and everything had a draw shape to it. The plus was so much better and even the head shape and face design help me out. ✌🏼 Scott. ⛳️☄️🏌️♂️
The original SIM drivers really were something else. Broke mine recently, and begged Taylormade to just send me another, but they couldn't and ended up with the Stealth. It's fine, but I much preferred the SIM in almost every way.
Hoping they will test out the haywood driver coming out soon.
Just seen the ping G430 LST Titanium fairway coming June, sure Ian will be testing that

The word “try” is missing from the golf equipment world. The ability to hit a few balls with various clubs could help identify opportunities for improvement with new equipment . It’s either off the rack or full fitting and hearing fitters mentioning clubs they “try “ reminds my of those facts. For the record, my putter is the only club not to have been professionally fitted so I’m a believer in the process.
