The father/son relationship you have is role model worthy. The fact that you take the time and show your son why and how to do things is something he will never forget. My uncle was a helicopter mechanic and always wanted to see what I was up to and lend a hand. Problem solving with decades of experience yet always willing to teach. You a great man raising a great son!
Same has me and my son's and daughter's. There my wife's kid's from her previous marriage to her ex husband. He one day got up and left her. And when we was about to be married i adopted the kid's together when we got married. And there happy that i help them do thing's like Steve and Matt do together.
You ain't the first one that's had to drag start a rig.. gotta love when the starter craps out!! I rented a 26 foot UHaul truck to pull start my semi one time. (Psst, don't tell UHaul!!
On my peterbilt i have a air adapter on my air tank just for this type of headache...Air to truck and trailer.. just saying...Good thing your that close to the shop!!!!Your Nephew did a Great JOB!!!!
Steve, you and your son are awesome family/team wise. Great job raising your son with respect cuz your son is giving you respect in return. After your explanations to your son, he replies in "copy" and "understood" = Love it. Hope Orwell gets fixed soon. God Bless.
Father and son duel passenger down to generation you do a fantastic job as a father you can tell the way he talks to that he has a ton of respect for you you’ve done a tremendous job he’s the next generation of truckers.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
My Dad taught me much like the way you do and though he was tuff and hard to please I always tried. In the end, we made a good team and we still do after all these years, I am 45 years old now and he is still a good teacher only difference now is I teach him quite a lot as well because I am a licensed mechanic he is not.
Seems like waiting for total failure made things much more complicated. But, hey, you got Orwell home, got it started with teamwork, and supplose next episode will be inside the cozy shop :-)
I've had to do that a few times mostly for dead batteries well weak ones that wouldn't charge up and long way from place to get any had good old 3406a just screw in stop solenoid and drive it once running but keep the video's coming on all 3 channels
I. Want to see Steve & Sergiei Dratchev run a couple loads togeather somewhere they do the same kind of hauling you guys could critique each other on the journey help each other comment on each other’s experience & style you are both experienced oversized haulers and you both have you tube knowledge somebody needs to reach out to the other party and see if they’re up for a double haul and pickup some where you both go all over he is domiciled in Ontario Canada though
If you need any unhelpful suggestions, put an air starter in it! I have a Case that the starter gets oil washed, just takes a can of brake cleaner to get it working again, though I have a short walk if it doesn't start at some later point.
I've always use Gas on a shop rag...better than starting fluid..dont hurt the motor..when it sucks the vapor from the gas it will fire right up..and idle high...
Might have corrosion inside the terminals on the cables, seen that often. Get a loose terminal on either studs of the starter will carbon arc. I have pull started in reverse, just use high range.
Iallway had a air chuck on one tank to remote fill air tanks . If starter is stuck in fly wheel you may have to remove starter before you can pull start.it
Hey at least it started easy. I had to do that when somebody forgot to turn off the light's. And the batteries was dead. And i forgot to grab the jumper cable's. And friend's had no jumper cables with them. But lucky one had chain's with them. And we rolled start my truck and it fired up easy. Lucky the road was flat cause both truck's was small truck's. A ford ranger extended cab. And the other one was a Chevy Blazer. Lucky i have a tank that hold's air and i was able to get air in the airbag's. The kid's was like come on come on come on start. We tried several times and it finally started. I was like hell yeah thank god. We let it aired up and charge the batterie's. And i tested it to make sure the batterie's was charged and sure enough they was. And Steve best advice is always carry a spare starter in case the starter in the truck goes out. It never happened to me but has happened to a few driver's. Since it's getting cold my truck will always be running since it's hard for it to start when it's really cold. And if u can't plug it up to keep the engine warm. If there is an outlet that i can use to plug the truck to keep the engine warm. Then i will shut the engine off and use the generator to use for the sleeper and other thing's. My wife was like can u do that air the truck up like he is doing. And i said yeah i had to when somebody forgot to turn off the light's. My truck sit's low when i deflate the airbag's. But that is going to be fixed soon where it does not set so low. And if the airbag's are messed up i can still drive it to get the truck serviced.
I'm surprised you didn't pop the clutch with Orwell in reverse while pulling it backwards. In reverse, going backwards, the engine will turn over in the correct direction, thus avoiding rehooking to the front of Orwell. Anyway, love your channels. Have a great day!!
Hey there. My dad and I are trying to buy an 84 freightliner with a 350 cummins big cam. Do you know much about these engines? Any common issues? How's your experience been trucking with an old truck?

kid probably was given a proper shouting at for him to respond that way, while holding spanners, wrenching
@@GavinY when we tell the kids what to do they repeat it. So we know that they heard.
Interesting. Very nice of Orwell to wait until he was home to give up the starter. It sure gets dark suddenly this time of year. Thanks for sharing.
That stahhhhppppp at the end brings back memories with my dad😂
Love the truckshop channel, cool that you have Matt with you! Greetings from Norway!
In your son’s defense, you used the lowest lights on the rig.. 😂
LOVE the V10. Great job. GOD BLESS Y'ALL.
You ain't the first one that's had to drag start a rig.. gotta love when the starter craps out!! I rented a 26 foot UHaul truck to pull start my semi one time. (Psst, don't tell UHaul!!
I've seen uhauls do much worse. What they don't know wont hurt them lol.
He said “stooop” 😂😂 he was taking Orwell on a stroll.
Love this channel. Takes me back to my truckin days!
What a great assistant your son is.
Was thinking the same. What an awesome kid you have. I hope you appreciate him.
father son team work love it enjoyed the video!
Team Work 🤠🤘🏼
That was classic STOP! Made my day 🇨🇦
FSC Trucking , Loved here in England .
You are one great driver,, very adaptable to overcome any and all obstacles.

I once pull started my cousins 3406e 379 pete with my s-10. The look on people's faces when I did that was priceless.

Wow, Orwell fired right up! Great things you've got going there with your son. Hope all goes well with fixing the starter and Orwell’s other ailments.
Your boy did good Steve ...Great job.
Great video Steve at least Orwell waited till you were at home to not start. Love the father and son dynamic that you and Matt have stay safe.
Awesome watching you and your son working together.

Stick to your guns on Ether Steve, evil stuff. Starter motors are cheaper and easier than piston rings.
I have used brake cleenze as start fluid.Alcohol and benzine in it.Not as bad as ether.
Your son has learned well from you !
Make that voice carry !
👍🏻
Hey your son has hair😆

Great teamwork! At least this happened at your shop and not on the road.
Excellent team work. Great job you guys.
Matt’s wallet must be full if he’s daily driving a v10
Poor Orwell. I hope he gets fixed all better

Been there done that!
I'll flash my lights when I want u to stop!? Stop lol🤣
Been there ,done that
Ending loosening starter to get it to disengage.
You all a crazy!!!!

Been there....done that, although it took me way longer. Lol.
What a hassle. Glad it all worked though.

Matthew must have grown taller. He's almost as tall as you now!

Good time to put remote battery jump posts on Orwell.

I think that's because reverse is too low of a gear ratio. You need a higher gear for a jump start.
I had a car that needed that, neutral, open the door, get out halfway and kick it backwards, hop in and stuff it in reverse to start it up.
I agree less ether the better.
Would you recommend a Detroit 8v92TA engine? It's in a Pete 362
Hey there. My dad and I are trying to buy an 84 freightliner with a 350 cummins big cam. Do you know much about these engines? Any common issues? How's your experience been trucking with an old truck?
How much experience does one need to hire on with Wiedmeyer
I think he said in a video 2 years
If you use ether on my truck, you just bought a buckle sandwich
Matt looks like he lost a few pounds, use to be a chubby lil kid, u been keeping him busy. No video games and no junk food.
Lamo STOOOOP!!!
Then change starter in warm garage very soon?
How much does Orwell weigh?
Did you get another cab over?
Stop means stop when I flash my lights
Those people are nuts!
No either!
Only when absolutely necessary ! 🙄
Goo!! STOPPPPPP🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I changed a starter in the snow in a truck stop I had no choice at least Orwell let you get home
I hope you didn’t do it in the fuel island like this bonehead did in last vedo shame on the mess
@@kenroy2030 nope I was in a parking spot got up the next morning and it wouldn't start
I hate using starting fluids on any kind of vehicle myself.
Ain't nothing a dodge can't do.
STOP lmao
Stopppppppp!!
GITTER DUNE..................... LOL....
Why don't you have a fill service hook up to the tractor and fill everything at 1 time super Trucker
Son has a good outdoor voice. Tired of working with "men" who whisper. Can't stand it.
STTOPPPP!!,..lol
The Dot-21 system sucked!
Seems easy, flash lights…stop. STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!
whole lot of yelling going on,lol,.
