Having a Guinness record is as valuable as you make it to be, their records are not "official", no such thing exists. There's a nice youtube channel of a couple cycling for 10 years around the world. They're currently stuck somewhere in Africa ruclips.net/channel/UC8bM_y2J-rhv1FL3hdP2VSA
Guiness has shown time and time again they care more about money than amazing feats such as yours! I think both you and Wally should both be recognised as having officially unicycled the world!
Guinness: "Here's your world records for sitting in beans for 2 weeks." Also Guinness: "When Unicycling around the earth you can NOT step down once or it will not count. Sorry, bud."
I was always impressed that you always went back to wherever you got picked up from for whatever reason. Never realized initially you had the goal of a Guinness World Record but makes sense. Wonder how they up come up with the rules for a given record. Fell like you and Wally should be mentioned as record holders! Look forward to the interview.
I would question what it means to “officially” unicycle around the world. Who said that Guinness has control over what that means? In my head you officially cycled around the world in that you drew a line with your unicycle around the world. 😂 Doesn’t get more official than that tbh.
Obsidian Breaker did I mention the “Guinness World Record” in my comment? Or are you adding that bit in for me? (That’s called a straw man btw). I only said I still count it as “official”. Chill your beans.

Kind of weird that they didn't acknowledge it with all those rules. Why not acknowledge it and let someone else try to do it in fewer days. After all, you did unicycle around the world, just in a longer timeframe than anticipated.
The number of days part sounds reasonable, but I think the antipodal points are probably necessary requirements to prevent abusing the distance guidelines.
@@josephwilson3180 I dunno, it sounds needlessly restrictive, and a different rule that captures a similar spirit would probably be better. Only a tiny part of the world's land has an antipodal point that is also land. So it pretty much forces you to have one of the following pairs of places in your trip: Spain/New Zealand, greenland/antarctica (probably not a valid option), or China/Indonesia with South America.
WOLFBORN What is weird here...by his own admission he did not follow the rules, therefore no record. FFS you cannot make your own rules and expect a prize.
"A participant should not remain stationary for 14 days" What did stationary mean? If you moved a house down the street once per week, does that count as stationary?

@@playamcnugeegames8267 Not trying to start an arguement but if your talking literally stationary, you aren't moving at all. I'm not going to unicycle round the world, but I am going to bicycle "far". I've always wanted to do it but got caught in the panic loop. Your videos, your manner, and particularly your cost break down made me see how doable it all is. And pleasant!
I'll just cycle and enjoy me. And when things go wrong, I'll find solutions.
I'm currently in the process of packing up my life to leave, so it really is beyond "inspired".
Thanks. You're marvellous.
Having a Guinness record is as valuable as you make it to be, their records are not "official", no such thing exists. I'm just not sure it's necessarily better, but I agree Guinness is just a private company and they don't owe you a record even if people think you deserve it.
Same with stuff like the modern Olympics, some people spend a life time trying to achieve a medal, but is it worth it? And we agree, that's the actual question, indeed.
Like around the world in 80 days. The protagonist goes back to save the love of his life when he could have done the record much shorter.
He did get the record. Only not according to Guinness. Who cares. They are not God or something. They should stick to people fitting most matches in their nose or making the worlds biggest marshmallow.
The memories you've made during those breaks are much more valuable than any recordbook entry! You're brilliant man!
What an amazing video you have made here, it has brought me to tears twice now and I'm not even done watching. I am so inspired by your journey and at least a part of that pride I am feeling comes from you not letting Guinness tell you how to conduct your adventure! Stay safe I always say, you made the right call in my book every day of the week. Who even cares about some dying corporation that only cares about pumping out low quality books every single year to keep the profits rolling in. Stay true to your heart ED, I love this kinda stuff :)
I'm glad you were able to enjoy the journey rather than stick with "the rules".
I am extremely glad you made this trip your own and didn't just go balls-out to get the Guinness. You're an extremely admirable person, Mr Edd, and I have been greatly enjoying your travels over the past few months during my own travels. Cheers
You may have not gotten the Guinness record but I would say you did very much officially unicycled around the world!
Thank you for sharing your journey with us! You are a lovely fellow Ed :D
Imagine starting this late 2019 with the intent of following Guinness's rules, you get 3/4s of the way around the world and then Corona hit
Ellyz Press F to pay respect
Ellyz WAIT OH-
There's a nice youtube channel of a couple cycling for 10 years around the world. They're currently stuck somewhere in Africa ruclips.net/channel/UC8bM_y2J-rhv1FL3hdP2VSA
The pandemic began in late 2019. You wouldn't have made it very far
@@jarnold1789 Idk how you can be that wrong on such a global issue that's affecting everyone lmao
Guiness has shown time and time again they care more about money than amazing feats such as yours! I think both you and Wally should both be recognised as having officially unicycled the world!
Guinness: "Here's your world records for sitting in beans for 2 weeks."
Also Guinness: "When Unicycling around the earth you can NOT step down once or it will not count. Sorry, bud."
Yes? If you leave your bean bath for a second-your record attempt is disqualified, simple as.
@@max7971 eww imagine shtting and pssing in it?
That wasn't one of the rules....... Nice one though lol.

Thanks for the fact mate
About 1000 left
Wtf man. You got me a ad that wont end
Thanks
Hi Katie, only just spotted this! Thank you very much :)
This is my dad when gas prices go up 1%
I would question what it means to “officially” unicycle around the world. Who said that Guinness has control over what that means?
In my head you officially cycled around the world in that you drew a line with your unicycle around the world.
😂
Doesn’t get more official than that tbh.
Apparently you just have no idea what "official" means.
@Alannithas the nicest fuck you I've heard
@@brokenwave6125 Apparently YOU don't know what it means C:
Obsidian Breaker did I mention the “Guinness World Record” in my comment? Or are you adding that bit in for me? (That’s called a straw man btw).
I only said I still count it as “official”.
Chill your beans.
@@Fogmeister broken's point was you personally don't make it official. Alan's point was all those newspapers saying he did it does. So he is official, but you saying so is only part of the reason it is true. Everyone else who says he did it are the other parts, even if he doesn't get the plaque from Guinness. And you did mention Guiness in your comment.
You had more adventures in 3 years than people during their lifetime!! That's awesome!! I Love traveling and absolutely adore your adventure videos!! Please carry on and keep us posted!!
It's to set a record, not just approve a world tour, so I can of understand the rules
@@pauli6570 AMEN no 8th place trophies culture please. The man is still the worldwide king of unicycling in my book
"A participant should not remain stationary for 14 days"
What did stationary mean? If you moved a house down the street once per week, does that count as stationary?
It could be like not attempting to make progress, and the progress would probably have to be done by unicycling. Soo i don't think you could just move a house down the street and say you made progress
Firemaster 273 I think it means stationary all together for 14 days it’s stupid though because winter and all that. What are you supposed to do, you value your life right? Guinness sucks big pp
@@playamcnugeegames8267 Not trying to start an arguement but if your talking literally stationary, you aren't moving at all. I don't think you can just move a house a day like Juanito is saying and call that progress. You're still pretty much in the same place for those 14 days of moving house to house.
But on the note of risking your life, well i don't think they care, it's a world record so you either get it or your don't
@@zelioz848 What if you move by unicycle though and you say you attempted to make progress
@@juanolotgn I mean that's something that would have to be accepted by the people giving the world record, i personally wouldn't accept that

I am glad you made it home safely and it indeed it wasent worth risking your life for that world record. Hope you are happy with your accomplishment
Rules and regulations they get in the way of everything that is good anyway Ed you did an excellent job and I’ve enjoyed watching your videos
Rules and regulations are the only things that keep us from anarchy and corrupt people from killing off more than half of us. Or would you prefer to die of cancer due to having asbestos in your buildings again?
But asbestos in buildings across the country across the world should be paid for by the government to be removed with government employees as they made a fortune out of taxing the companies that produced it
@@leslierhodes5467 As opposed to the billions the companies who made the products made off us selling us products THEY KNEW were bad for us, while they tried to suppress data that showed it was?
Get a brain.
Rules and regulations made by corrupt organisations are bad.
Rules and regulations made by the people for the people are good.
That was a great video Ed. Turning an adventure that started out so small in scope into something much greater. I am happy you followed your heart. You seem very collected and the fact that you chose the journey over the destination at such a young age is really refreshing. Your a pretty awesome guy.

They didn't tell him to go over icy roads. Poor planning.

No worries. Those experiences are well worth the missed record. Good job friend!
Thanks for taking us along on your journey around the world! : ) You got a far better education by traveling the world and being on your own 2 feet (well one wheel) ; ) ... your mental strength, physical strength, motivation, commitment is commendable.
