1: One guy made a dj mixer with an embedded computer and a screen. 2: People started saying "That's so cool, why isn't anyone making these!?" 3: Someone manufactures them. 4: People go "Who the fuck wants a computer in a mixer, what the fuck were they thinking!!"
The Design needs more work, I don’t like how the screen sits on the Mixer. #Tip: make the screen where you can change the position, other than just flat.
I think its double functioning tablet/laptop. I feel the knobs should all be together towards the middle of the mixer and the screen should placed higher so it can be propped up kinda like that new denon controller everyone is talking about right now.
@@itimmy101 Exactly. There's no reason the controls shouldn't be below the screen. Why force someone to reach over and block the screen while operating the knobs?
Changing the position would be a great option, it actually sits flush but the guys had to get underneath during setup. Keep in mind this is a prototype.
I seen some camera phone footage of this prior to the release of this video and when setting it up they kept leaning over the mixer to get a better look at the display. The final version should have at least a 30 degree tilt to the display. Similar to the tilt on the pioneer cdj's.
I almost feel like manufacturers don't do that for some reason like takes up space or somehow will look dated. Lol but I agree needs an adjustable screen like an MPC
This man is really an innovator. Since 2012 he’s had this vision. He’s so ahead of the curve. This is the start of of something or the next step from things like the denon prime. All the people who don’t get it make me sad. No one heard this can run anything and be hacked to your hearts content. It has enough power to literally have one person on stage running absolutely everything from the dj set, visuals and lights. Complete and utter control of everything and with thunderbolt you can hook up a bunch of controllers if needed and have the perfect dawless/dawcentric live set anyone’s ever had before. With things like akai force, denon prime, and now this, soon you won’t need to buy both. You’ll be able to just get a musical instrument that’s already optimized for audio meaning you only spend time learning your instrument. Not also learning everything about Mac and windows or file structuring and all the extra crap that comes with trying to make electronic music. All with wireless midi clock via ableton link, all backed up to the cloud. This is the start of the end. I may have gotten a little too excited but the future looks awesome.
Love it...fair to say though, that when there are 2 companies making the same product...that's when innovation and performance really shine...the mk3 will be the one to get
Thing is, this is nothing more than a tablet, soundcard and some midi controls, any one os us should be able to make one.. I might actually give it a shot tbh.. Id love to ditch the laptop
I think what may be the real defining feature is not the fact that a computer is in the mixer, but the fact that a scratch / party rock DJ (someone who plays hip hop / club music with some turntablism) could go to a club or show and run it all themselves: plug in the audio to sound guys' mixer, plug in ethernet to trigger lights on the DMX (lighting board), and plug in a thunderbolt cable to run their own predefined graphics (video and vfx effects) timed to the music. Think of it like scratching the track, the lights, and the accompanying video all at once. The lighting guy still runs the lights, just like the sound guy still runs the board, but you get to trigger certain things like lights going on and off with your fader cuts or volume. This could be done with minimal extra gear. I know this needs some work (tilting screen, etc..), but as a really solid V1. This is pretty dope and forward thinking.
Monumental is how I view this release. Not a dj, but I must say you have done something I waited for so long to see. The real use of the word "standalone". Not much on the mainstream USA market is completely standalone, although they use the term. Congrats and play on! leave the computer at home. Be proud to get the concept of what true standalone is! A lot of people wanted real standalone products for years now and major synth companies just wouldn't make it happen, and by upgraded memory of a few megabyte's is a slap in the face. Good job and cheers to you!
Thud Rumble x BITWIG STUDIO would be the illest collabo ever!!! they have been in the touch DAW game much longer!!! hook them up, they are really nice dudes!!!
if the display goes wrong you have to send whole thing back and be without a mixer . least with a laptop and mixer you can ask a friend to borrow there laptop or just go full vinyl oldskool . you would need a backup mixer and laptop i suppose .
The screen needs to be able to tilt even cdjs screens are tilted for better viewing & the screen brightness needs be bright & vivid in daylight & black pads in 2019 thats old, PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE before reading all peoples comments & concerns, apart from that i look forward to seeing final product
@@chubbyboy2242 Can you carry infinite amounts of music without a laptop? Bring it oversees without ridiculous fees? Can you play and scratch with your own production? Your edits? The list goes on... I have nothing against real vinyl, I grew up with it but it's not an option for most professional DJ's in todays age. If you manage to do it professionally then props to you.
Native Instruments could easily do this themselves by putting a smaller tablet and the mobile version of traktor on a midi mixer. It would be much cheaper and be far more space and energy efficient.
Lol, that’s the worlds best, on that thing, like anything else, we just gotta get used to it, this game has changed since I started, as a boy in 1984, got my first tables at 18 in 1990,I still use 1200’s and a Vestax PMC-07 with Serato, but that shit right thereis Bad Ass!
RUclips has millions of viewers so also use this to help with producing the final product by reading comments dont wait till after the product is out to see what needed changing as you have time now, You also should of had someone working on the style ie the WOW factor look..
I dont see this being a viable option. if anything you ll be looking at a screen more due to the small text. if this is being geared towards turntablist/live performers most have their stuff all cued up. Look at performances by d styles/mmm/craze. if this is being pushed towards a 3style type DJ I dont think the small screen is a help editing your music will have to be done elsewhere possibly? curious how easy it is to upgrade/replace ram/hard drive in here. cool that new ideas are being supported and put out there, but for 2500 I can get an entire new set up
I wonder how steep that price is. I don't see this as a must have or a serious game changer. Although I like that fact that they are trying to eliminate the computer, to bring DJS back to form of connecting with their music instead of looking at a screen all night. It has potential tho.
With the free app Dj Player Pro (i know sounds shit but is the best app ever) You can midi map and dvs map (vinyl map) everything So for everybody build your own midicontroller and map it into the ipad
I mean, basically its just a small pc enclosure with a screen and some midi buttons/fader. Not sure I see much innovation. Sadly using serato doesn't allow you to SKIN the interface like you could if you were using VirtualDJ. Id love to see some footage of this thing running VirtualDJ.
So now I gotta bring my rare mixer with me to the club or on tour? What if someone wants to use their music? Needs to be more stand alone like pioneer dj, rekorebox USB cdu functionality
The screen should be on the player not the mixer remember when we used to mix with vinyl and vinyl only we would look at the record to see the pattern of the song on the player and only use the mixer for mixing

Yea they gonna have a to get a screen adjustment lift!! And definitely move those EQ knobs down!! After that then your good!
If the screen tilts then the top knobs won't be easily accessible :S

Love this product the idea for not having a laptop is great. I have a question can you invert the colors for sunny outside events?

GETTING ONE OF THESE❗❗
This is the Open Labs Miko/Neko of mixers. So the only reason for this mixer is to bring back the DJ to stare at the mixer instead of the laptop. Lol
8 gigs of ram, 256 gig ssd, lots of cool buttons, a screen, and the only thing the DJ uses at the show room is the crossfader :p
Does DJ Q-Bert ever age?

This is still a prototype
@@rockhills"final prototype" before production,
So you pre record everything, play it live then pre DJ ,add this and that on the way, all you need is a CD player and a bit of wing chun moves.
NO. I reject technology. Two turntables and a mixer. Records are transported in milk crates.
technology is wack. i still ride my bike to the club. the resident (real dj) rides his horse!

This is cool and all, but I didn't see Qbert do anything on this thing that can't be done with a Regular turntable, a regular mixer and a Record.
the point fit is just no lap top
Yeah, doing something that can't be done with other stuff is not the point, the point is mixer+laptop+audio interface in a single package.

Sounds like a good idea no laptop but definitely needs a redesign and has to be durable.
Does this DJ mixer has accessibility functions or voiceover for the visually impaired? If it does then I’m sold! If not please include this feature
Should we overclock the cpu to make it scratch like qbert?
Looks a more like a home project/ prototype rather than a market ready product though the ideas good!

Make the screen tilt like the MPC X, my opinion.
That thing is HUGE!! And the look is not appealing at all. For that size it should have a built in fog machine.
i would actually like this more if it had a built-in fog machine

Slim it up a bit lol, and let the screen rest upwards, How many lb’s is that thing?

any News on this ? Will i Ever be released ? 🤘
Nope. Project scrapped
Unfortunately I feel like bigger companies might steal or Try to buy it off the idea from this.
It's probably already patented
They wont need to buy it as denon and pioneer already have all in one dj controllers so doing a mixer is just another part of dj stuff
i made same with a serato interface, a gemini fx 7000 and a pipo x8.
That looks insane, amazing, and expensive. You gonna pick one up Swiftstyle?
