His solo has it all. Despair, sweet sorrow and a moment of clarity
Yep ❤he’s amazing 🎉
The best there ever was, Jerry Garcia. Thank you, for a real good time.
The Tiger is roaring in this one. Bleeding raw emotions, transmitting them straight to your soul. Epic.
Fucking gold. Thanks Wolf. ✌️
Jerry, the maestro of sadness. We love how you make us weep.
Lee Ross perhaps one day there will be another man as sweet, but I wouldn’t hold my breath
Lee Ross I’m with you on that
you get it
crying now,love you all
So true I can’t listen 🎧 without tears 😭 flowing
Again and again I come back to this recording. Can't get enough!
I could say the same.
Mee too!!
Same here
Good god, that solo -- melodic yet edgy, a thousand notes and every one of them contributes something wonderful.
No one covered #BobDylan like Jerry.
Joy Buhler Agreed, Jerry and Hendrix did amazing Dylan covers, as well.
so true
Dylan has said so himself.
Hendrix?
Richie Havens had a real way of interpreting Zimmie. Just like Jerry. Miss both of them
Jerry could make Dylan’s songs fly.
The bristles of his broom sweep the floor like a music box, delicate and clean...Kung fu mastery
Best cover of Bob Dylan ever done. Ever done.
Damn this is jerry. More feeling than any man can ever muster😊
Jerry had a sneaky eye for bass players. John Kahn is an unspoken legend. One of the best.
Absolutely.
100%
If only Cliff had connected with him. I would trade anything in the world to have seen Cliff and Jerry together.
Bass & Lead Guitar. Surely would have produced alien magic.
Amen
To be honest not a huge fan of Johns playing, very lumpy and uncoordinated solos
NOT, watering down Jerry's performance to even a drop. The eight minutes solo, wow! It's probably the best I've ever came by. Yet WHO was killing it on the bass? "
Mr. John Kahn!
His second solo (about 8 minutes in) is absolutely astonishing. Surely one of the greatest he ever played.
as2191 yeah you can FEEL the soul and passion.
i know its amazing
The beauty of it brings tears of joy to my eyes....
its absolutely stunning
Captured Blue lightning in a bottle
I agree, nobody wrote like Dylan, and nobody performed Dylan like Jerry
robert hunter was no slouch...
When I want to experience an emotional performance I turn to this Simple twist of fate. Does it every time.
How doesnt this have a million likes?
Brother you need to stop putting ads in the middle of your videos. Completely ruins the moment.
You tube does this not the person posting the videos. It's so you will subscribe to RUclips premium and that can get a payment from you every monrhr
He was feeling it this night
There’s nothing like the sweet sound of Jerry…
every time i see and hear this it gets better wow what incredible musicianship
Damn why am i just now finding this
It is brought to us when we need it, you were meant to find it at that particular time 🌠
Thanks for sharing
I Cry with Pleasure
The riffs went on an on that night. What a masterpiece of a show. I'm Glad somebody taped it. Wonderful show
fucking perfection. Jerry understood and embraced all types of music except for one. the shitty kind.
2ndthemotion -
Matthew Berry hahaha. Amen, brother!
and rap. he said it wasn't music. maybe rhythm or something but not music
Yes and rap- didn’t consider it music and neither do I
@@iamAwesomo1994 are you Sleepy Joes Corn Pop?
Still jamming, the music endures
These were the days...
Absolutely. Saw Garcia Band and the Grateful Dead allot in 80. Great times...
Was learning this song today.such a cool chord progression.jerry is the master at playing to the chords .so effortless..whoever says jerry is a noddler is crazy and has no clue
I consider this the definitive version.
Jerry that guitar is so beautiful. Man oh man. My oh my.
Jerry--A musician like no other for an entire generation
Infinite Generations....🙏🌌
@@MarkMasters... totally agree, Mark. Well played
The subtly of the synth after Jerry's solo building up to something special is something absolutely beautiful
Absolutely. It complements Jerry's solo nicely.
Get chills everytime man. Garcia was is and always will be the MAN. THANK YOU JERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!
So sweet..man,that guitar sounds good.Sweet Jerry.RIP.✌️☮️🕊️

Johnny d'Fonseca jr. on drums. He was only about 20 years old at the time. Garcia gave him his shot and he held his own. Sadly, he died in auto accident shortly after this. He's the drummer on the infamous After Midnight>Eleanor Rigby jam from 2/2/80
that start of the solo at 02:18 so good ..slowing building up , releasing its fragrance ...grandpa Jerry !
To see or imagine what was going through Jerry's mind during this would be amazing.
He was prolly in a meditative clear headspace high on dope just feelin the music with all his heart
You dont have to wonder - just listen to his guitar. He is at one with his instrument.
It is so sad that we lost Jerry Garcia.
Jerry we will meet someday 🎉
Valentines Day music... oh, so slow-danceable~
Simple Twist of Fate....Truer words were never spoken
It's a lovely song to start with, but this is something else again. (And I'm a big Dylan fan.) Great to be able to watch Jerry play it.
Amazing 🙏💖💙🎶
Si viajase en el tiempo, serias mi primer y último lugar, gracias Maestro.

Wow Jerry is so amazing
Jerry!!!
The only thing I would ever worship...
I miss him
You know Jerry's well loved because ads keep popping up in his videos. That John Kahn bass.
🌹
Aynsley Dunbar doing the Levon Helm shrug - love it!
Que maravilla!
I was there at this one.
You sir are one lucky dude
Beautiful
I loved when he'd pull this one out, time to sit back, blow a fatty and drift away to his sweet melodies
Porgy are you related to Leroy Tirebiter of fireside theater fame? “ what is reality?)
I dig the bass guitar solo. You dont see that too much
Yeye, Jerry’s solo was absolutely amazing, but the other solos were amazing too. This version wouldn’t nearly be as good without them
Keyboard solo wow.
fingers so incredible scales tone only tiger rose attached to jerry can sound like!
John Kahn!! @ 10:18
Lovely stuff. Too bad it's broken up by ads.
Who puts an ad in the middle of a Jerry solo?
Only an asshole man!
No shiz
A Imbecile
Ever heard of Premium RUclips?
@jackfriday31 why would anyone pay the people who put ads in the middle of Jerry's solo? At that point I'd rather pay another music service in stead
wow. unreal.

Jerry turns up the face melting tone.....
ooh guitar so very sweet
poignant longing... within each measure.... OOoh tingling to my soul
Near the end is a bit like being in church.
WORDS AND MUSIC BY GOD DYLAN, LP BLOOD ON THE TRACKS , 1974
Holy Moly o.o
I know Robby approves. I'm sure Bob does. We sure did, up and down the Coast!
🥰🌟
Something about this song, JGB and Tiger....just seems that Jerry opened 'the window' a little wider with that combination.
Who else could take Dylan and make it his own.....
Sooo watch the 93 version on YT to see John actually steal the show with his solo
I was his twin his soulmate !
I believe In Simple Twist of Fate ....been through it ....yea ,,,, but got through it ... he
didnt ....that simple twist of fate killed him,,, he committed suicide ..never wished it
upon him ... watch out for that simple twist of fate .... 9 years since he died from
That Simple Twist Of Fate ....
Fucking A. This is a Killer version!!!
Jerry plays so graceful, then John comes in like a guy falling down stairs.
A+
What I can't figure out is how sounds much better when he plays with other bands instead of the Dead. But it is undeniable that he did.Maybe it is psychological.
O
The dead turned into a job where as this was his real passion
RIP Phil.
RIP John Kahn 🍄🌁🌁🌁🍄🥊😊
anyone know what synth ozzie is playin :) . musta been a firtune to buy that thing in 1980.........
21 people thumb down this. Lol!! How do you hear this and think, this is bad?
