One quote that's often reworded that sounds "woke" but is really a dumb saying.     Happy 25th Anniversary to one of the greatest albums from any genre of all time. "Baduizm" turns 25 today and I just remember Ma Dukes lighting sage, preparing premade extensions for her hairdressing customers while my weird ahh was there vibing with her and listening to this album. A lot of fond childhood memories tied to this one. This definitely forever special.

    When my grandma passed in 2/2020 this song really helped me. I had no money. All alone. And yet the world kept turning. Everything about this song resonates with me ❤️I listened to it on repeat for months. Proud to say it’s September and I’m coming out of depression. Music is powerful!

      Also, wealth is overwhelmingly inherited--wealthy people have money because they were born into wealth. And the origins of most wealth is not knowledge, it's EXPLOITATION, especially exploitation of poor people of colour around the world.

      Personally I view it more as she's stating how racial derogatory terms were constantly used against POC and were used as name places for people. So when she says call us by our name I think she literally means to call POC by their name, not some racially vindictive word. I don't think she means to treat people as gods, but I'm just throwing my two cents in :)
