Hi Linda, yes, my garden looks in need of adjusting too, I’ve been away working a lot, a delivery of bags of bark & compost were dropped off and areas of my lawn are newly composted where I planted new grass seed! It’s a work in progress…from nothing/ but all uneven lawn to developing flower beds!

There are minimalist gardeners and maximalist gardeners. It would be respectful if people would STOP projecting THEIR gardening style on others. Some property owners would rather care for beautiful flowers instead of caring for grass/lawn. Linda your garden is BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE your gardening style. Gardeners should do what makes THEM happy.

Why any explaining at all, of what others say/think about your garden on your property? If you love the look, that's all that matters. You do you and let them do them.

Linda I love your videos . I am going to offer some advice from the perspective of someone who watches a lot of RUclips videos: I would give less airtime to the critics, the majority of us want you to do you. I come to see you and it makes me sad when people are critical to the point of being rude. Let’s reward the positive and ignore petty or rude comments.

    • @tammy6816
      @tammy6816 15 дней назад +2

I couldn’t agree more! Maybe this is just me but when a RUclipsr I follow address the critics, sometimes it comes across like we are all being scolded. I’m not a RUclipsr and I can only imagine how deflating it must feel to read the rude or negative comments but I do wish those comments were simply ignored and not given air time.
If a negative Nancy doesn’t like your garden or feels the need the harp on you for not having a railing on stairs, or has to correct your pronunciation, whatever! Ignore them.
Maybe there’s many more negative/rude comments than what we see because they are deleted but IMO I would love to see you focus on the hundreds of comments made by those of us who enjoy your videos and your team!

So I really appreciated this video and got a couple tips I’m going to do. In general though, I think the folks who feel the need to criticize a garden of all things and on a free YT channel should just go out to their own garden and sit and smile at the beauty they created before they decide to give negative feedback to someone else.

We must ignore that little voice that wants us to please others. The funny thing is that most of those people do not even have a garden to look at.

You are the right gardener for the cottage. It was begging someone to create and tend it. Stylistically, there is a difference between a landscaped yard and a garden. People that don't want to tend a garden usually prefer a lawn, trees and a couple of flowering bushes.

For example, I tend to be a structured gardener while on the other hand, my mother has a more free, cottage type garden. When I’m at her house, I want to rip out all the “clutter” and when she’s at my house she panics when I prune.

Gardening reflects our personality and I too am like you with design! To each their own!🤗🇨🇦

Your garden is great. I´m a minimalist inside but outside I like it full and overflowing. I think what helps my garden from not looking cluttered is the hard scape: borders made out of brick to hold all the plants together, gravel paths, same materials in furniture, pots, decor ... And a coulour scheme throughout (plants, materials and so on). Greetings from Germany 💛🐝💛

Love your garden. I would dig out some of the dusty miller and move it to your left at the empty space. So enjoyable watching you.

To each their own. I love and are drawn to laying in a garden yard. The house looks loved and someone who loved to garden. Plus, the gardening adds value to the property.

I drove North on Dewey St and stopped at that stop sign across from your house while the tulips were blooming. I described your house and garden as a shining jewel in a quaint darling neighborhood. If your English style of garden is cluttered, then mine is also and what I prefer, otherwise it would be boring.

Love it! Learned a lot! I wish I’d been out yesterday, I would have come by and taken some of that Minoan lace off your hands and given it a second chance at life in my yard across town!

LINDA, YOUR "COTTAGE" & "GARDEN" IS SPECTACULAR!! THE ONLY THING "I" WOULD DO IS ADD A DARK BROWN OR BLACK MULCH THERE AT THE FRONT WHERE THE STAIRS & THROUGH OUT YOUR GARDEN & THAT WOULD MAKE ALL OF YOUR BUSHES, FLOWERS STAND OUT MORE & ADD A LOW "WHITE" BLOOMING GROUND COVER INFRONT OF TALL FLOWERS & WHERE YOUR WALKWAY IS HEADING TO YOUR HOME WOULD MAKE YOUR GARDEN "SING" WITH JOY, BUT THAT'S ME, & I LOVE YOUR IDEAS & SUGGESTIONS & AS ALWAYS, "YOU DO YOUR GARDEN & I WILL DO MINE & THAT'S WHAT MAKES THE WORLD GO AROUND, CAUSE IF WE ALL LIKE THE SAME FLOWERS, ETC., IT WOULD BE BORING!!

I love your "cluttered " beautiful English style garden. Of course I suppose it is all about management and being able to maintain a garden like that, I couldn't that's why I enjoy yours.

I’d move that dusty miller maybe split it and put in more empty areas. Nice discussion about leaf structure and color contrast

Your garden has been the inspiration for my garden space, having removed the bermuda/lawn. Over time I learned that I put plants too close together and have moved some to other places in the garden creating a less cluttered look. Thinning and pruning are frequent tasks in my yard that also make the garden look cleaner and tidier.

I also move plants all the time now, thanks to Linda and Jim Putnam. I don’t know why I didn’t know I could do that before! 😂

The dusty miller is a show stopper as it is, in my opinion. I would leave it. It is growing as a perfect sphere. 🌱🌱🌱🌱
