Gabriel, that for your comment! As a podiatrist I have patients walk with and without and the patients love the increased stability. I can see the increased stability. I agree that the stability increase is across the subtalar joint, not the ankle joint! Rich
I find it hard to believe that a podiatrist still teaches how to heal feet, showing in the videos sports shoes with a narrow toe box that squeezes your toes and is the cause of a lot of problems. It is SUPER important to wear wide toe box shoes (Altra, Tipo, Vivo, etc). It is as if there were two types of podiatrists in the world, those who live in a parallel reality and do not know or do not want to know the importance of that detail and those who do give it the importance it requires that they are a handful in the whole world, like: Dr. William Rossi: "Footwear: The Primary Cause of Foot Disorders” this Man Travelled the whole world and wrote hundreds of white papers and books on the subject. Dr. Emily Splichal: 20 years on the subject wrote a book “Barefoot Strong: Unlock the Secrets to Movement Longevity” and collaborates with Xero shoes. Dr. Ray McClanahan ex Runner who made to the pre-Olympics tríals. Has excellent videos and collaborates with Lems Shoes. And let’s not to forget the book “Born to run” from Christopher McDougall. This is one of the tragedies of our time. The fact that podiatrists, physiotherapists and doctors are not aware of the fundamental role that the separation of the toes, especially the big toe, plays in the entire biomechanics of the body. Going to give it a go!
That doesn't increase stability, that prevents heel slip. Also, that shoe was way too low volume for whomever that was modeling it.
