Good question. If you're creating a database for a single company, then the one company is all it cares about, so the relationship is "one company has many employees". If it's something different like an employment history feature of LinkedIn, you may find that both are true: a company has many employees, and an employee has many companies (and even multiple companies at the same time). In this case, it would be a many-to-many relationship.
Hey Database Star, I was thinking of getting a monthly subscription to your site. Are the concepts taught specific to SQL Server or can they be transferred to something like Postgres/MySQL? Also, do you have recommendations on good books about database design? I kind of struggle with it when it gets complex. I want to learn how to design a database for any sort of application needs I can think of.
Hi, the courses and content I have in the monthly subscription apply to Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and Postgres. There are demos and examples for all four of them. For books, I’ve heard Database Design for Mere Mortals recommended a lot but I haven’t read it.
all these comment lying about learning is crazy, I know data base but have some areas I can improve on and this helps none.i need the actual sql setup and codes to help.
@@DatabaseStar this example was created on a spreadsheet type program, not an actual sql database so ppl who do not know how to join and what allows the join can fully understand. for example creating two tables you never said in order to join you need to set a key and index in order for it to have the relation in the first place. Say I want my product page with a size option as one field and I want to join it with a size table with the full stock sizes how do I do that? the size field would need to be set as index and the size table would need to be primary......Then how is it rendered by code?
I found you a little bit too late but please forgive me for my haste and rudeness. I got only two items in my e commerce product list, very simple (those are free from categories and subcategories like color size etc. One is set of books (Romance, Textbook, Suspense, Horror) the other is set of Games. How soon can you reply to me for a complete Schema? Apology again, Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback! I agree it is hard to listen. This is one of my older videos where I did that, and my newer ones are much clearer (louder voice, clearer, better microphone).

Great video! Question: Why you didn't put the "1" crows foot notation on the other end of the line relationship?
Good question, I think it's due to the diagram tool I was using.
Very well explained :)
Thanks Andrea!
Amazing
Thanks!
which tool you have used to create diagram?
I use LucidChart
I am very new to SQL but want to pursue a career as SQL developer.Any path or suggestions please.
Thanks in advance
I’d probably start with learning the basics of SQL and then create your own database and practice your SQL skills.
Great Video
Thanks!
I'm confused because my question is:
Can a company have many employees or can an employee work at many companies?

Thanks for the feedback. What sql code do you need?

why do you whisper & mumble? very very hard to listen.

What do you mean? I say Table and Paper.
This was completely useless....
Thanks for the feedback. Why do you feel it was useless? What do you think could have been improved?
Great tutorial. I stumble on your blog , but the links to your uTube channel are not working so I had to google it.
Thanks, I'll fix those links.
