Don't get me wrong, river is trutly out of this world, but he is more a vocal musician than a beatboxer, beatbox comes from the 80s urban culture, and its spirit is freestyling, improvisation and battles between crews, just what napom mostly brings to the table.
@@jano_ace_2305 no bro u wrong, beatbox is what u make and evolve with everything u have and innovate, besides what u already mentioned, bbx needs to evolve too, thats what it is about to be able to bring fresh and new stuff in your own way.
The volume and quality of sound is totally different. When river just showcased his own routine that sounds kinda similar to his rounds in other battles, napom countered most of it with better and bigger sound. Napom should have won this title
I don't know why people say that this battle was robbed, when it isn't. I'm also a fan of Napom, even way back when he did the "Roll like this video", sure it sounds great and he adds variations to his lip rolls, but it kinda feels repetitive over-time. Meanwhile, we have River that constantly surprises people with his new techniques and his musicality, which I believe makes him one of the beatboxers in the world that deserves the champion title.. Both of them are great. Napom with his liproll sets (which makes the crowd go ballistic) and battle attitude. River with his beatbox complexity (that astonishes the crowd), and his versatility.
i mean river also uses a lot of similiar techniques in all his routines. and napom being repetitive over years doesnt matter, only how much they repeat on the day matters. also being the best at 1 technique can be better than being decent at 2+ eg. king inertia can win just because his bass is soo good. close battle regardless, i can see both sides
@@Luke.1779 tbf, you're not wrong on pointing out River's double voice techniques being repetitive, but he still surprises people with new techniques and sounds every time he battles. Also, repetition does matter because if the judges heard the same thing repeatedly, the impact wouldn't be that much to them, even though the audience loved Napom's style, it's still up to the judges to decide which is unique and creative. Just rewatch the last GBB's battle between Colaps vs King Inertia, I loved Inertia's bass and I thought that he would win, but he didn't.
@@kinn_7773 yeah repetition does matter, its just difficult to determine whos repeating more in this contest imo because although napom uses liprolls often, he doesnt necessarily use a lot of the same sounds in the same way king intertia does. a lot of people say stuff like 'weve heard roll like this for years' which is why I said it doesnt really matter outside of the contest. Also i generally believe people think Napom shouldve won because he brought more battle energy which is more along the line of why dlow and gene voted for napom to win.

I think when comparing the two its clear that Napom is a master of at his inward bass and lip rolls and is unbeatable in that field (Which most of his performances are based around) , but when comparing the variety of different sounds and techniques that each beatboxer uses, River clearly has way more variety than Napom in his sound choices and musicality and manages to cleanly incorporate this huge catalogue of sounds into his performance while still being able to do extremely complex patterns whether that be with the drum patterns or melodic patterns
@@dayleywhaley2420 - River recycles 3 sounds. Mainly his snares. Very talented and technical. In this battle, River is often off beat, especially in round 1. bro napom just do reptations nothing new in his beat
River only Showcasing a prepared routine, napom making a real battle with counters and reading the moment.
